Gilbert Arenas. Monta Ellis. Michael Redd. Manu Ginobili. The list goes on and on of players who some reason or another fell to the 2nd round of the draft and went on to become stars in the league. Of course they each had to fall into the right situation, but obviously they were not 2nd round talents.

Which 5 probable 2nd rounders in this years draft have most the potential to be come All-Stars (or near All-Stars)?

    I’d bet on these 5:
    > Lance Stephenson
    > Darington Hobson
    > Armon Johnson
    > Manny Harris
    > Charles Garcia

Even though he’s a real thug, Stephenson just has too much talent not to go in the 1st round.

I don’t hink any of the guys you mentioned will be all-stars [or near] but i think A Johnson and Hobson will be the best of the 2nd rounders.

Two guys to really watch who will prob go in the 2nd round-

Art Parakhowski – if he went to a bigger school & got the hype, he’d be a late lottery/mid-first rounder pick
    T Booker – if he was 6′ 10 instead of 6’7″ he’d also be a late lottery/mid-first round pick.

Gallon to me has bust written all over him. He has weight issues and hasnt shown any ability to lose weight. gallon to me is Robert Traylor without the same college success. I feel people who can make a name for themselves int he 2nd round are Willie Warren, D Jones, and Crawford. All have knack for scoring and I think in time could become like Jamal Crawford.

You didn’t mention the two greatest 2nd rounders EVER – Mark Price & Dennis Rodman.

If Rodman was not so crazy, the NBA would of put him in the HOF years ago – the dude won 5 rings, DPY 3 times, and how many rebounding titles and 1st team all-defense??? He’s a wing nut, but how can he not be in the HOF???

Who’s the bigger douche bag – Stern or Selig?

If Gallon is chosen in the second round he won’t be a bust even if he doesn’t work out. Every year there are only about 2-3 guys in the second that work out.
I’m not sure it’s possible to predict an all-star caliber player. Stephenson, Warren and White can become good first and second options, but stars? If it was that easy to say, there’s just no way they wouldn’t be sure 1-st round locks

I like Jerome randles name being brought up and i hope he is around for celtics 2nd round pick. He could be a solid backup for rondo.

Love Jerome Randle’s game. Super talent offensively, and he’s done nothing but produce. He’s small and not quite a good defender, but he’ll be good in a sparkplug role off the bench.

I also like: Grevis Vazquez, Jordan Crawford, Dominique Jones, Gani Lawal, and Willie Warren.

I feel like if Randle was 4 inches taller, he’d be a first rounder, his biggest knock is his size, and yeah he lacks defense, but otherwise he’s so well rounded, hes a big-time sleeper…

Stephenson and D. Jones will likely be 1st rounders, but if they are 2nd rounds they’d be huge steals also

There is also “word” that S. Robinson and D. Ebanks can slip into the 2nd round, I doubt it, but they’d both be steals if they are. Athleticism, Defense, and Potential.

Some others… Warren, Brackins, Crawford, i dont think much 2nd rounders could be “stars” but those 3 have a chance…

I feel Terrico White is a 1st round talent but his stock has been all over the place since he decalred. IF he falls into the 2nd round he can develop into a very good player. HE is first and formost a scorer, and to top it off he is a very good athlete as he showed off his 40 inch vertical leap in the draft combine. While he won’t ever be more than an average defender he definately has all the physical gifts and skills to be a very good player, and possible 3rd or maybe even 2nd option on offense someday.

Another player I like is Craig Brackens. He is pretty old for a Junior but theres a reason he was projected as a lottery pick in the begining on the year. He has ideal size for the PF position and has a good jumpshot, with the ability to stretch the defense. He is pretty soft and is more a finesse player than a banger. Very similar to Yi Jianlian, which is a good and bad thing. Has the talent, just needs toughness and needs to be more aggressive. If he can somehow do that I can see him becoming a starter someday. He is most likely going to fall into the 2nd round, as his production dropped of significantly from last year.

I also like Greivis Vasquez. Dude has a heart bigger than NYC! Hope he goes to my Hometown KNICKS! I am not sold on the Duhon-Douglas 2 Headed Monster lol.

I like Stephenson, Terrico White and Dominique Jones, but i think they all go 1st round.

    2nd rounders:

    Ryan Richards
    Greivis Vasquez
    Willie Warren
    Jordan Crawford
    Darrington Hobson

I think Vasquez could be a late 1st rounder as he said everyone would be “shocked” on draft day, but i think these guys all will be the best 2nd rounders from this draft.

In my mock I have Crawford and Warren both going to NY, where they will both be very successful I think as they both can really score the ball.

yeah, randle’s size is the ony real thing holding him back. He has nba range. Good speed and just has confidence to get wherever he wants with the ball in his hands. He apparently showed good natural pg skills in the PIT according to scouts.

Obviously anybody looking at going in the second round probably has enough flaws that we shouldnt really predict them to become stars. But there are always guys that leak through and put in the work to get better. I havent seen much of mikhail torrance, but most of what im reading sounds real promising, especially for a laker tema that likes big pg’s.
