While its no surprise the pistons plan to build around Andre Drummond, do you think that Myles Turner/Drummond combo would work.

Personally, I do think that that can work. He complements his game very well. The question is will be able to contribute immediately. If he can contribute now I do think that he will work . It’ll be a good inside-outside combo that they didn’t have with monroe. Also they can let Monroe walk as well (he going to anyway but still).

However, if the pistons choose not to take him, I hope they don’t pick Johnson. The pistons do need to address their SF situation. I do like Stanley Johnson but when I look at him play I see Michael Kidd Gilcrest (with a better J). he can contribute on D immediately but their perimeter shoooting still will not improve, especially With Reggie being a slasher, KCP inconsistency. I would like to see them go for J. Winslow. He gives them good D on the perimeter, as well as good d at SG.  Pistons can sign a SF  in the Offseason. Draymond Green would be nice, but it’ll take a miracle to pry him away from GSW.

Jimmy Butler or Kevin Love, or Luol Deng should be at the top of the their list. It’ll be hard to pry Butler away. Depending on how far the CAVS go in the playoffs Love is a possiblity. Deng should be within reach.  Deng can provide some leadership.  Love can provide some much needed 3 point shooting. The only thing is the pistons will have to overpay Love or Deng for them to come here.

Pistons can also pick up Johnson and Turner …if they trade BJ (and another player) and a 2nd round pick for  a first rounder.  PG’s ome a dime a dozen nowadays.

I think Reggie Jackson is more likely to be traded then Jennings. I could certainly see Houston, at 18, not being content with Cameron Payne, Jerian Grant, or Tyus Stones. They could go Winslow or Johnson at 8, and then, Portis, Looney, or Wood at 18; or they could go Turner at 8 and perhaps Oubre, Dekker, RHJ, or Anderson at 18.

Kevin Love will have a dozen teams to choose from this offseason, so I don’t see Detroit as having a chance in that. David Lee could be an option to replace Monroe.

I agree with Numbers_Cruncher I don’t see Love in Detroit. KLove is still a max guy Detroit can’t "overpay" as the origional poster suggested.

im not big on turner… all the times i saw him play i just came away unimpressed.. i rather have us draft a guy that can play right away like stanley johnson or winslow.. and jennings and jackson cant work in the same backcourt.. i would personally choose jackson and trade jennings.. jackson is bigger, more efficient.. better defender  and more consistent.. jennings played awesome once smith left but overall has a history of being to inconsistent ..  ill accept jennings of course if he returns but if i had to choose jackson or jennings i go with jackson

I see a possibility for Porzingis to drop all the way to Detroit at 8th. However, given Detroits history with unknown, European big men, do you believe the Pistons will take him if possible?

Well after the lottery things will be a little clearer. I’m a Lakers fan for the records and i’ll been putting off predictions until after the lottery. But that being said, I think turner could fit next to Andre quite nicely. But I think the best fit would actually be Kristaps Porzingis. From what we see he may be a better shooter right now then Turner and we know SVG wants the floor spread. Yet he still has the size to defend on the other end.

Also I think if Jennings doesn’t want to except may a "first guy off the bench" role then he could be expendable. I would stick with Reggie Jackson. He’s younger and not coming off a serious injury.

Several "insiders" seemed to imply Porzingis has a promise from the Magic. One of whom (he wore a gray sportscoat with a burgundy necktie?) pretty much came out and said it.

Hard to imagine Love even bothering to visit Detroit, let alone sign with them. And Stanley Johnson’s stock seems to be slipping.

But Myles Turner could be a decent compliment to Drummond … at least moreso than Monroe, hopefully.

I would keep Jennings, and have him come off the bench. He is a score first type of guy, and could have a Lou Williams/IT impact off the bench as a scorer. He’s also a good option to have in small ball lineups with Jackson at the point but guarding opposing 2’s, and have Jennings play off the ball kind of like when the Warriors have Livingston and Curry in the game. Jennings only played 28 minutes a game last year, so I don’t see why you couldn’t have him be an elite 6th man and still get him those kind of minutes. You have him under contract for one more year, so it’s worth a shot.

I also think turner would be the ideal pick for the Pistons if they can’t snag one of Winslow/Johnson. They need a SF more than anything, but they could always adress that in free agency/the second round. Turner would be a good player to have next to Drummond because he can space the floor, but also compliment Dre on D with his ability to block shots and switch on pick and rolls. Having another shot blocker will only help Dre, as it would allow him to focus more on boxing out and rebounding instead of trying to alter every shot that comes his way. Turner would literally be the antithesis of what the Pistons are looking to replace in Greg Monroe.

You said no to Stanley Johnson because he is Michael Kidd Gilchrist with a jump shot. But that sounds awesome!

I believe having a better J than MKG isn’t a big compliment. Johnson’s J is still inconsistent. Of course, he could pull a Marcus Smart and end up being a decent 3pt shooter, but I wouldn’t put money on Johnson’s ability to improve in that area. For the moment, let’s just say Johnson is pretty similar to MKG.

He shot 37% from 3. Not bad by any margin. I still think his shot needs a total rework to make it consistently from pro 3.

Not terrible, but not outstanding either. Becoming a 3 and D guy should be his first priority, but he can’t make it with out the consistent 3.

That sounded like an ESPN 8 The Ocho commentary lol
