Wow Turner just broke out today and he looked GOOD. 25 points 11-13 shooting 7 rebounds 2 blocks. His shot is wet man, he shoots it with a lot of confidence, no hesitation, which is impressive for a rookie. And did his release just become quicker? It may just be me but his shot looks better than when he was in college. The Pacers are slowly diverting away from small ball again, and I can see Turner taking Lavoy Allen’s starting spot anytime soon.

On a side note, another rookie also broke out today and it was teammate Joe Young! George Hill was out and he was given a lot of PT and looks like he and Myles have a thing going on with them. A lot of chemistry there. He’s not going to overtake Hil’s spot obviously, but  can see Vogel starting to split minutes between them in the future as Young clearly is the better shot creator and slasher than Hill, while Hill is the better spot up shooter and facilitator.

With the Pacers they have a good lineup for the next few years. If he continues to develop well, Turner plays the 5, PG can run the four, maybe put cj miles at the 3 and have Hill and Young taking over the guard spots. May not be great defensively but a good small but not so small starting lineup

can just flat out play and his shot is kind of freaky good.

Really like the Pacers, with Paul George and Turner a great duo for the future.  Two really skilled players.

They need to miss the playoffs and find a better third option, I feel they need a beast PF that grinds downlow and boards.  I think Tristan Thompson would’ve been a real nice fit for them.  Maybe they can trade for Randle.  They just need a bully downlow to play with these softer skilled perimeter forwards.

Pau Gasol or an Ellenson type would help them too.  Turner is a great stretch player on offense.

I’d trade one of the Sixers bigs for him.  I might do Okafor for Turner, if Turner stays healthy.

Love the potential of Paul George and Myles Turner as an inside-outside duo going forward. I don’t see any reason why the Pacers wouldn’t want to make the playoffs though. Unless you’re a team in need of a rebuild, losing "on purpose" will not solve your problems. Even if they only manage to get a 6-8 seed, they’ll get playoff experience for their young guys who can build on that the following season. If the Pacers stay in that 15-20 range that they are currently in, I think they should be looking at guys like Domantas Sabonis or Cheick Diallo (if he falls a little bit) if they want to go after another young big man. I could also see them going after someone like Caris LeVert as well. LeVert is a senior who is only 21 years old and would be able to contribute right away. In a few years, Monta Ellis will be entering his mid-30s and LeVert would be able to step in as the starting 2 guard and complement their line-up nicely as a guy who can play off the ball or be a primary ball handler as well. Interested to see what they do as far as free agency goes this offseason as well with both Jordan Hill and Ian Mahinmi hitting free agency after two of their most efficient seasons of their respective careers.

He and Joe Young were definitely a bright spot from a terrible game yesterday.

I really want to see Indiana use Turner like New York uses Porzingis at the 4-spot, I am not saying he is as good but there is no denying they have a very similar skill set in terms of spacing the floor and defensive instincts. Mahinmi and Lopez are both very similar as well, so I think it could work really nicely.

Paul George is really struggling with his efficiency as well and the way Young was creating and Turner scoring that could really help lighten the load on him in terms of him having to do everything on offense. I know it is a lot to expect of some rookies, but Indiana is not a contending team and playing them now will help them get there in another 2-3 years.

Albeit opposing teams don’t have enough film on Turner and he isn’t on the scouting report yet, he definitely had a break out game vs the Nuggets. He played with so much confidence and passion, which is something the Pacers desperately need. I think the time he missed due to his thumb injury was a blessing in disguise because it allowed him to watch the game from the sidelines, plus it gave him time to strengthen his lower body and continue working on his hip strength/mobility. He’d been dealing with knee soreness since training camp, but now that’s no longer an issue.

I’m really interested to see what Vogel does going forward with his rotation. Mahinmi and J Hill have been very good, but Turner is too good to keep off of the floor. He’s still learning where to be defensively, but he’s a very good shot blocker. He has to do better on the glass too. The other option, like it was said above, is to play Turner at the four. That brings up another issue… Bird wants the team to continue playing small, however they’re better defensively playing big, plus George feels more comfortable playing with a big. Miles is too inconsistent to be successful at the four.

Young really impressed me (even though he’s not on the scouting report either) and he should get plenty of minutes while Stuckey is out. I like that he’s naturally aggressive, which is something G Hill hasn’t been. Young actually was attacking/probing the defense and getting guys easy baskets. The Pacers need that. He and Turner showed great chemistry together in the P&R/P&P. Young should’ve been on the floor to close the game vs the Nuggets.

The Pacers aren’t contenders this season, but I like the direction they’re headed. I think it’d be good to make the playoffs. They’d still get a solid first round pick. I think what they do via free-agency will be huge. George will come back a better player next season. He needs to get stronger.

I forgot about that but yea, his passion and energy really stands out to me especially as a rookie. Gets fired up a lot with buckets and you know he really cares about winning.

I had just been waiting to hear some buzz from this guy. I think pre-season was an eye opener to how his game was exactly going to be molded going foward. At Texas he would dissapear for minutes (alot of it mpg and the system) until an offensive rebound or the block came his way, he really showd flashes of jumpers, but it was frustrating trying to watch him at Texas. Pre season came around, homeboy was shooting jumpers like Aldridge, and skying for blocks. Maybe I’m being ignorant and I typically prefer not to talk about these things, but it look like he did some roids around draft time when pre-season came around and his arms looked twice as big. Anyhow, I like Turner’s skills going forward and I hope he breaks out fully and constantly, giving this class yet another star potential big to add to the list.

Another huge game for Turner in a loss to the Warriors tonight. 31 points on 12 for 17 shooting, 8 boards, 2 blocks and just 1 turnover in 28 minutes. He should be starting for the Pacers sooner rather than later.

I don’t wanna sound like a D- Bag & take credit for something I did not see…… But many, many people on this site "did see" & were really high on Turner….. A childhood friend sent me a link to a facebook story that Sixers ownership forced Hinkie’s hand in the 2015 NBA Draft……

The article claimed that w/ Embiid on the shelf again & no clear time table when Dario Saric would arrive from Europe…….. Ownership "Greatly feared that the fan base would turn away if the team drafted a foreign player" (Porzingus)…….

I’m not criticizing Okafor – I really belive Okafor is an absolute stud – but would Porzingus or Turner have been a bertter fit for the the franchise? or maybe the Sixers should have traded down to #7, 8, 9 or 10 and snagged Myles Turner & just let him develop?????

What do you guys think??? ****Quick side note – in addition to Turner, fellow Rookie Devin Booker is filling it up as well………

Haha, I’ll say it. I thought Turner would be a top 3 pick before the 2014 college season began. After his up and down play during the college year he fell a bit on my big board but was still in my top 10.

I know arambone2 was really high on Turner too.

What’s scary is Turner is only 19 years old, yet is already showing moves that the best 4/5s in the league can do. The Aldridge comparison is legit, except throw in Ibaka’s shot blocking. He gave GSW bigs all they could handle last night. They actually doubled him at some points in the second half (welcome to the scouting report)… He was leaving defenders shaking with that reach, high release and underrated athleticism.

As a Pacers fan, I’m super excited… He’s going to be a star at both ends and fits PERFECTLY into where the NBA is transitioning to. And with Young, the countdown has started on G Hill’s departure from the starting lineup. I like what the Pacers have going forward.
