Many people look at Teague and say he is a better NBA prospect than Kabongo.  I really think that this is one of the rare cases where the more talented player is not the player that you want on your team.  I feel as though in the NBA today, point guards filling the role as the team’s best player are becoming the norm.  However, I just don’t see Teague ever becoming a number 1 option at the highest level (although I could be wrong).  Teague is probably more atheletically gifted than Kabongo and is certainly a better scorer.  Now you may say "OK then why the Hell would you rather have Kabongo on your team?"  Well, if I already have an established scorer or two on my team, a playmaking point guard with tremendous feel for the game and exceptional pasing ability makes more sense than just picking up another scorer to put up shots.  Teague is not at the level of Rose or other scoring point guards and his passing and feel for the great are not great.  Kabongo is one of those Rajon Rondo/Steve Nash (lacks Nash’s scoring) kind of guys who just elevates the play of everyone around him and is loved by his teammates, coaches and fans. It seems as though people are falling in love with Rose, Deron Williams etc. and are forgetting that elite passers such as Paul, Nash, and Rondo used to be considered the leagues top point guards.  I know this is a very long post but I guess all I’m saying is that sometimes pure talent is overmatched by intangibles, and I would rather have a guy who is a Rondo/Nash/Paul type of facilator than a guy who’s a scorer but can’t carry a team such as Brandon Jennings, Monta Ellis etc.  Kabongo is going to be on a great NBA team someday and his quaterbacking will be one of the main reasons for the success…

It really depends on your team. I think Kabongo is more likeable than a guy like Teague because he’s a prototype player for his position, he has good intangibles and charisma, and he because he can make flashy plays. Teague definitely is the better athlete and a better all-around offensive player, but it just is a matter of preference between the 2. On a squad with alot of good NBA scorers, Kabongo is the likely choice (unless, maybe, his SG can’t shoot very well). But a team that just needs a boost scoring, basic PG skills and with athleticism, Teague will be the guy in most cases. Teague is more of a scorer than a playmaker or guy who can make teammates better though.

I think Kabongo could be at Texas for 2 years honestly. Teague probably will be at Kentucky for 1 though.

I totally agree, i think Kabongo will ultimately be the better player, although there is no doubt in my mind Teague will be very good. Kabongo imo is just a consistent jump shot away from surpassing Teague as the better prospect. With Kabongo u know u have a guy that loves to get the assist more than score a bucket, u know u have a kid who truly loves to get his team involved in that Rajon Rondo mold, however i think Kabongo will become a better shooter unlike Rondo has been able to do. Teague i think will be a terrific player also, i think he will be a pretty damn good nba player but i will always see him as more of a combo guard then true point. Im not saying that their games are similar but i think Teague has a Marbury type attitude where he is looking to score first rather then set up teammates. As for your mention of,  D.Rose in imo scores or shoots the ball so many times becuz outisde of Luol Deng they dont have another perimter threat, and Deng can’t create his own shot at a high level, i really think if Rose had a better supporting cast he wouldn’t look to score so much. Rose gets a unfair label as a combo becuase of his situation imo.

They are both very good PG guard prospects and the most interesting thing is that they have different styles.Kabongo is the type of player that makes passing look sexy.He is extremely quick and has a tight handle as he is always in control. But the thing that sets Kabongo aside from everyone in the 2012 class par gilchrist is his leadership qualities and competive spirit as he almost refuses to lose.Teague however is athletic and has some crazy hops and is possible more exciting to watch than Kabongo(i am not saying Kabongo not exciting). He also has a sick crossover that makes players out 3 weeks tending to there ankles .Teague is also the better shoother than Kabongo. If i were to make a team and i had to choose between Teague and kabongo  would go with kabongo, as Kabongo can dominate a game without scoring and he Gilchrist,Davis and McAdoo might be the only ones that can do that. However , come 2012 when the draft looms Teague will go before Kabongo because of Calipari’s track record with point guardsThis reminds me in a way of the Brad Beal and Austin Rivers scenario.

Kabongo has much more holes in his game than Teague. He’s a poor shooter and a weak finisher compared to Teague. Just because Kabongo is a pure PG, doesn’t make him a better/desirable prospect than Teague. Teague is a better prospect now, and will be the better player long term, he is much more advance and has better physical tools.

    OOOO No No

I see alot of Kabongo likers…. But in all reality right now Teague is the better prospect and it’s not even that close.

Kabongo is a pure point, with great quickness and speed but he weighs only 150? In college he is going to get cut off alot due to his lack of strength so he might not be that dominant his first year until he puts on weight, you take Kabongo’s driving ability away….you have nothing because we all know he can’t shoot.

Where Teague has possibly the same exact speed and quickness as Kabongo if not faster as some said Teague may be the quickest player in HS and weighs about 180 and is wayyyyyy more explosive than Kabongo, Teague can’t really shoot either but he has a better shot than kabongo which doesn’t look good on kabongo’s part given the fact teague really can’t shoot it like that.

Right now I’m going Teague and in the future I’m going Teague, no knock on Kabongo tho, cause I like him as well

Kabongo is WAY better than Teague, I have no idea what you guys are talking about.. Everyone knows Teague is horrible in the halfcourt, thats where he struggles to run his team. Teague IS an overrated passer as well. When I look at Kabongo I see a Rajon Rondo type player. Wont be the type to score alot, a great passer and makes good descisons. Teague has far more wholes in his game than Kabongo. The only thing Teague may have over Kabongo is athleticism, and a better jumpshot imo. I really dont see Teague being on the same line as the other Calapari PG’s.

Kabong is not better than Teague bro, Teague is rated #1 PG on Scout.com Rivals.com and ESPN.com Kabongo is 2,5,2 on those websites.

You really can’t go off highschool anymore. As I stated before Kabong is going to be fine but he is going to struggle for a bit because he lacks strength, then they are going to play off him because he can’t shoot, also even if he does get into the lane at will, he’s is not a great finisher around the rim(He can barely dunk).

Teague on the other hand is 180 Explosive and can finish around the rim and will dunk on you, his midrange game is decent, and he is a terror in transition and knows how to change gears. He can’t operate in half court? Maybe not to the extent of kabongo, but Teague’s first step is so explosive, mix that in with the teaching of Calipari, Rondo,Knight,Wall And Bledsoe(All returning back to Kentucky due to NBA Lockout) Teague is going to dominate.

Apples and oranges IMO. One is a scorer, the other a guy who makes his teammats better. Just depends on what you prefer from your pg.

To those referring to HS rankings, of course Teague will be rated higher. He’s currently the better player, and a player’s NBA future doesn’t play a role in the rankings. In today’s AAU age, the scoring PG generally gets more attention.

Kabongo does indeed have more holes in his game than Teague, but his mindset is what sets him apart from Teague as an NBA prospect (at this point). I’ll be very interested to see how Teague does with a bunch of players who are used to having the ball (Jones, Gilchrist, Lamb, Davis) – as he will have a ton of responsibility as a distributor. Its his chance to show that his high-skill level and explosiveness can translate into unselfishly running a squad.

Sometimes changing a mindset (Teague) can be more difficult than acquiring a few skills (Kabongo).

Overall I don’t see either player being a top 10 talent at the PG position, but I give the nod to Teague as I feel he’s going to have a better impact on both ends of the court. Kabongo’s role is defined strictly as a PG, where as Teague is more of a combo guard. If we’re talking who is strictly better at the PG position than Kabongo wins, but just barely. If we’re talking in terms of strictly being the better overall player then Teague gets my vote by a much wider margin.

On a side not, how come every pass first PG now adays gets compared to Rondo??? Rondo is of course pass first, but him not scoring a bunch also has alot to do with his inability to finish. Kabongo will NEVER be the rebounder or defender that Rondo is.
