My Sister is currently waiting on Gary Neal
My sister works in a restaurant 50 miles outside of Philly. She texted me a little bit ago asking if I knew who Gary Neal was? Immediately I thought the worst and assumed he was in the news for killing somebody or something crazy like that. It turns out he is eating at her restaurant. I told her she should get a good tip since the Bucks just signed him to a 6 million dollar contract.
I just thought I would share that with you guys.
Good for her I guess?
Gary Neal In The Finals would be a great menu item. It starts off really hot and then it cools down...
I've waited on Andray Blatche once and his black American Express card was declined.
Good thing it wasn't Drew Brees she tried to get the tip from.
To be fair to Brees he was only getting takeout...I almost never tip on a takeout order...The only person who did the work is the cook and they certainly don't get any share of the tips.
My friend waited on Jamal Charles and got 5 bucks on like a 100 dollar plus tab. No guarantee a rich guy is a good tipper.
The media made it a big deal when Brees tipped $3 on a $74 takeout order.
My take on it is just because you are well off doesn't mean you have to outrageously tip a person. I ordered a pizza a week ago from Papa John's and the pizza was $10 but the delivery normally brings it to $13, this time I ordered it came up to $15 so when the delivery driver handed me my receipt I put a line through it like I always do. Delivery charges are already taken out so why tip on top of a tip.
That is how they try to get you.
A takeout is different, there are no added charges, but someone is still getting your order, packing it up and you should tip at least 10% on a takeout order. You don't have to do 18-20, like you're getting full service, but 3 on 75 is cheap for a takeout order if you make 40K a year. I served in college and if you don't like tipping then dont go to a nice restaurant, go eat fast food or cook at home. That's the way I always viewed it.
I only tip if I sit.
That's fine, do what you do, im not trying to tell people what to tip. thats their business. I was just trying to provide insight to the Brees situation from someone who worked in the industry. 3 on 75 is a bad tip, that's just how it is in the US. They make it legal to pay servers 2 bucks an hour, so the standard tip amount goes up.
Getting your order and packing it up is easy. When I worked the counter in a restaurant I never expected anyone to leave a tip on takeout. At the end of the night there was usually 5-10 dollars in the tip jar and we would take 50 takeout orders a night on average so most people felt the same way I did.
Now when I delivered that was a different story because our restaurant didn't charge a delivery fee...many people would give me 5$'s no matter the order size which I was totally cool with. Other people would give you nothing and there isn't anything you can do about it...except maybe eat half of their french fries if they order again and you remember their address.
I would never do anything to the food itself but I can't say the same for some of my co-workers....so keep that in mind if you get delivery and don't tip.
You shouldn't be pissed if you get 3 on 75, because, like you said, many don't tip at all, but 10% is a good tip on a takeout order at a decent restaurant (10-15 bucks a plate ). Again, people can tip what they want, but 3 bucks on that order isn't good. It's certainly not news worthy, its not bad, but its not good.
I went on a couple of dates with the actress Mari Morrow..She played Katrina in the movie''How to Be a Player''...And she has worked with heavyweights like Denzel,Will Smith,Martin Lawrence,Bernie Mac,Jamie Foxx,Steven Seagal.......I befriended her on Myspace, back in the day....She had my profile in her Top 8........
My friends were impressed seeing me in her top 8 and the comments she left under my pix....But i didnt believe it was really her....Becuz alot of times people create celebs profiles, just to get attention..
Bored 1 night ,i got on myspace,i noticed that she was online..I sent a message asking her why is she pretending to be someone else? We sent several messages to each other back & forth ..I asked her about certain celebs? She said watching Diana Ross inspired her to become an actress....
I'm thinking to myself,'' this person is a FAKE..I told her to cut out the act...She messaged me back and asked for my email address? I sent it to her,she emailed me a photo of her holding up a sign written in lipstick ,saying ''Ricky is 2 Rude'' and it had my email address written below....She mentioned she was going to be in Miami that weekend and asked if i would meet her for lunch....
I hear Troy Aiken is trying to get with her now...
Oh Well , did you get to round them bases LOL...
And what defines game better than MySpace messages, right?
lmao i'm joking with you
TOL23.......LOL..But she messaged me 1st.....
Anyway actress Essence Atkins met her husband on match.com..Sanaa Lathan went out on a date with a guy she met online....Martha Stewart went to a dating online site looking for love....So U never know what a woman might like..I'm just saying be yourself.....
I am more interested in what he ordered and who he was with?
He seems like a decent guy, so assuming a 20% tip, unless of course your sister is a lousy waitress, or the lunch sucks.
He was with his wife who is actually from this area which I didn't know. Her grandfather died and they were in town for the funeral. My sister is at least an average waitress but the food at the restaurant she works it is pretty good.
I don't know what he ate or how much he tipped...I will have to get back to you with that info...but she said he was very nice and she took a picture with him after he left.
Come on, someone has to have a Scottie Pippen story.
Since this is a random Gary Neal thread, I went to school at Boyertown with his wife.
My sister and I went to Oley. They were eating at the Greschville Inn.
This site is getting Soft he really gives a fack
Charles Barkley paid a busboy's tuition at Temple as a tip. Is that enough JoeWolf?
You would make it big on the Boers and Bernstein Show on two of their segments.....
Relative Greatness: participants recount tales of their family members' celebrity encounters.
Inconsequential Brushes With Inconsequential Greatness: listeners' stories of their brushes with inconsequential greatness.
Come on druneave3, who you crappin?
I generally don't tip on takeout; maybe a buck or two in the tip jar. Sure someone has to pack it up, but that takes about one minute tops. It isn't remotely as much work as going back and forth checking on your order, bringing the plates and drinks. I tip a solid 18 to 22% when I sit down.
Also, interestingly, studies have shown a racial result for tipping. Basically minorities don't make nearly as much on tips as white folks. So basically minorities can't get paid as much in any profession that includes tipping as white people. The more jobs that expand tipping as part of their compensation, the tougher it is for minorities to compete economically.
I recently moved to New Orleans and worked as a server for the first few weeks. On my first day Anthony Davis, Lance Thomas and Al-Faroq Aminu came to my restaurant. I was pretty star struck. Anthony Davis made a funny joke about 'eating the bones' in reference to the KFC commercial. Thomas and Aminu were nice dudes as well.
Aminu picked up the bill and gave me $20 on a 90 dollar bill. Not bad. Just wanted to share.
Best title of a thread I've ever seen on this site.
I once peed at the urinal next to Michael Doleac at a Cleveland Indians game. I'd say 2001ish. As I approached, I said, "What's up, Doleac" in a tone that suggests utter lack of excitement to see somebody. Almost burdensome.
Greshville Inn is right up the road from me. Pretty wild.
