    • First get a new coach(defensive coach) and gm. they have to rebuild from the ground up.
    • Decide if Bargnani is part of the future or not. If so get him a mentor(also good for ed davis) so he can develop, if not trade him for picks/assests
    • Draft Day-depending on the pick position and whos available get either a pg(trade Jose afterwords),wing, or a Center(if you Trade Bargs)
    • dont resign dorsey, weems, wright, or Ajinca unless you plan on using or developing them. Resign Reggie evans at a lower contract, if too expensive let me walk.
    • Free Agency, look for additional players to fill out roster(don’t overspend on garbage players).
    • Continue developing young talent, make smart draft decisions, and take your time(rushing the process only makes worse especially for raps)
    • Your thoughts?

Thats what they would do if they wanted to win, but its easier said then done. First of all Jay Triano might not bring your team the most wins, but he plays an exciting brand of basketball, represents Team USA which gives Raptors nation a false sense of pride, and he displays the qualities on camera that Management loves in a Head Coach. What qaulities? He is humble, not too outspoken, pretty much does what his boss wants him to, does not offend the media, shows a smile, and does not challenge his superior. Not to mention he is Canadian.Thats why he wont loos his job.

Bryan Colangelo is similar. He sticks to the "marketing plan" and creates revenue through acquiring European players that give Toronto an international edge within marketing. He does make some mistakes along the way, and then usually fixes them (if they are of an extremely detrimental caliber). He does what his boss wants and somehow has people believe he is actaully a good GM.

These guys wont loose their jobs until Raptors fans bring multiple signs to he game, wave the around, boo and chant fire "so and so:", and really start a ruckus over the fact that they need to be replaced.

Bargnani is fresh off a big contract. too early to bail on him and lets be real he is getting better year by year. They need to keep him at the 4 position and maybe select Kanter or harrison barnes if elects to enter. They can also pursue trying to work with Oden and that can really help their young team. Imagine this lineup

    Pg- Jerryd Bayless

    Sg- Demar Derozan

    Sf- Harrison Barnes

    Pf- Andrea Barganani

    C- Greg Oden

Thats a nice young lineup add a some free agents. This can be a bright future.

I think they should hold off on any big free agent signings until after next season.  We should have more cap space available to sink into one bigger name free agent.  Really the best thing to do would be to tank next year and get a high pick in what looks to be a stacked draft.  Add that to the core we have plus this years high pick and we should be strong for years to come.   Draft picks seem like they will be the primary way to build a strong franchise in the new post lockout NBA.   Sliding into the top 5 next year would be sweet.

It seems like the Raps have terrible draft luck.  It sucks that Sullinger, Jones and probably Barnes are making themselves unavailable.  I would have loved all 3 with the 3rd pick, especially Sullinger.  It looks like they’ll  end up getting Williams or Kanter, both at the bottom of my list considering what COULD have been available.  When they won the lottery before it was a weak draft year and ended up getting Bargnani with the top pick.

If it’s up to me, BC is gone for good and I would replace him as Raptors GM. =)

    1) Definitely let go of Jay Triano.  I don’t see him as a good coach, but he’s not horrific either, however, I would probably go forward with a new coach to have a new voice in the locker room.  Consider we are in a rebuilding situation, no good coach in their right minds would be willing to come at a reasonable price, I would go for a rookie coach and my choice would be Bill Laimbeer.  He’s known for his defense, toughness during his playing career and won 3 championships in WNBA, so might as well give him a chance for the cheap.  I would probably try to add to the coaching staffs to help player development.  e.g. Clifford Ray (big man coach credit for developing D12 and Perkins) and Dave Hoopa (shooting coach).

    Currently, 10 players under contract:

    Bayless / DeRozan / J Johnson / E Davis / Bargnani / Calderon / Barbosa / Kleiza / A Johnson / Alabi

    Untouchables:

Frankly, the entire roster can be had for the right price, but then for guys like DeRozan, Bayless, Johnson, Ed Davis, it would be very tough to get better return, so those guys are probably "untouchables".

    Keepers:

Amir Johnson showed good work ethic and embraced playing in Toronto, so he’s probably a keeper (but can be had for the right price).

Kleiza had a bad season and had no trade value (maybe even negative).  Since he had been playing on an injury since preseason, he deserved a 2nd chance and I think he can up his value once he gets back to 100%.

Alabi has no value, since he’s only 23, might as well let him develop and see.

    On the block:

Bargnani, Calderon, Barbosa are all available, but I would not outright "shopping" them.  They are ok-to-keep, but I would trade them in a heartbeat for any "good" deals.

For the draft, my board for Raptors would be 1) Harrison Barnes, 2) Kyrie Irving, 3) Jonas Valanciunas 4) Derrick Williams, 5) Enes Kanter

Bayless played so well since given 30+ min which make me reconsider about taking Irving over Barnes.  If drafting Irving, I doubt Bayless would be happy and eventually we may have to trade him at reduced value.  Harrison Barnes showed that he can be a franchise player and the starting 3 spot is the biggest hole.

I would only consider bringing back Alexis Ajinca (quick, atheletic 7-footer is hard to get, and 7-footers are always overpaid) and Joey Dorsey (rebounding is a big weakness).

Reggie Evans is too old for rebuilding and he can only rebound.  Sonny Weems is rather average and I can get a top d-league player to replace him at rookie min.  Wright had been useless and refusing to enter the game in garbage time was a bad sign for a young player.

I would not look too much into this year free agency.  The good players won’t come at a reasonable price (DeAndre Jordan, Greg Oden, Marc Gasol).  No chance, we would be able to bid for them without significantly overpaying.  I would rather sign some d-leaguers or undrafted FA at minimum to fill out the roster.  At least those guys are young and may turn into something.

if they plan on going forward with bargnani then they need 2 decide is he a PF or a C. its nuthing wrong with him playing both positions but i think they need 2 decide a solid poswition for him to play because i think half of their problem is deciding how to use him and who he will guard. also im wondering what will they do with bayless and calderon as far as the point guard duties becuz bayless came on pretty strong towards the end of the year

A good way to be fired would probally be to draft Valanciunas over D Will. Im a big fan of Jonas, and even think he could be a very good player when he develops, but right now it is not proven and Williams is. You take the better player…

Derrick Williams would be a good player and may become an all-star, but he’s a little undersized for a PF and I don’t think he’s a SF.  Given the Raptors already have Bargnani, Amir Johnson, and Ed Davis, I don’t think we need to stack up another PF.

Jonas Valanciunas is a better fit for the current Raptors and I see him as equally good as Derrick Williams.  He has good potential and seems to have the work ethic to improve.  Last year, he only made around 50% of his FT, this year, he’s making 91.7%.  This showed he put a lot of works in it and showed his work ethic.

The only issue with Valanciunas is that apparently, he may have contractual issues similar to Ricky Rubio.  However, with the NBA lockout coming, I would love to let him stay in Europe for a year or two before coming over.

Regardless, my #1 choice would be Harrison Barnes.

three, Im not a raps fan, im a nets fan so This is a outside looking in situation. I watch the raps for Bargs(im italian)

your a raps fans, If you praise triano, Colangelo then we don’t you praise bargs. He is one of the few players that resigned with the raps and didn’t basically leave you guys like every other player, he doesn’t complain, and has improved every year except his sophmore year
