So far, BC has been disappointing and I hope he wouldn’t put further damage to the Raptors (by taking on that stupid S&T deal with the Cavs).

Given all the frustration with the incompetent Raptors GM, I came up with some moves based on “realistic” rumor for an ideal Raptors offseason.

So far the Raptors have done 3 thinks:
    1) Draft Ed Davis
    2) Draft Solomon Alabi
    3) Sign Amir Johnson to 5 years 34 mil (overpaid on a rush deal, but not too too bad compare to all the other deals that have gone done so far).

    The current Raptors roster:
Turkoglu, Calderon, Bargnani, R.Evans, Jack, Banks, DeRozan, Belinelli, Weems, Dorsey, E.Davis, Alabi, Amir

I would only do the following S&T for Bosh:
    1) Nets: Favors + TE + picks (actually don’t really care as long as Favors is included)
    2) Bulls: Johnson + Gibson + TE + picks (must have picks since i am not too high on either Johnson or Gibson)
    3) Heat: Beasley + Chalmers + TE + picks (must include the Rap pick in return)

I would not consider Houston’s deal because they got pieces that are good for instant success, however, the Raptors don’t have enough pieces to go anywhere quick regardless of who they can get from the Rockets.

The key in any of the above S&T scenario is to get the TE.

Then, I will trade the TE to the Hornets for Collison and Okafor as the Hornets are looking to dump salaries.

At last, I will trade Jarret Jack and Reggie Evans to the Bobcats for Diaw.

    The final roster:
    Collison / Calderon / Banks
    DeRozan / Weems / Belinelli
    Turkoglu / Diaw
    Bargnani / Favors / Davis
    Okafor / Johnson / Alabi

This would be a pretty solid team fighting for playoff next season while having good young players like Collison, DeRozan, Bargnani, Favors, Johnson, Weems, Davis, and Alabi.

The Raptors could get more for Bosh then Gibson and Williams from Chicago.

If I was Toronto- I would need to have Noah come back.

With all the “news” about Bosh going to Nets, Heat, Bulls, or Cavs. If Bosh demands to go to Cavs (which apparently is not what Bosh wants to do), then I would let him go without compensation because Cavs does not have ANYTHING good in a S&T scenario. This would force Bosh not to go the Cavs since he wants the extra year and the 30mil.

Bosh probably does not want to go to Cleveland because it’s a small market. For bigger name like LBJ, Cleveland is ok as he would have the same marketing power in any cities.

Bosh on the other hand would benefit more if he plays in a bigger market. He probably does not really care whether to play with LBJ or Wade.

Chicago, New Jersey / Newark / Brooklyn, and Miami are better options for Bosh than going to a smaller market like Cleveland for Bosh. I think the smartest move for Bosh would be to the Nets. They got a bright future with the new owner willing to spend for victory. A solid coach in Avery Johnson. Devin Harris, Brook Lopez, Terrance Williams are all very good young players.

If the Nets get Bosh, they would be willing to include Favors, so it is realistic to think Bosh would go for the Nets.

It is not that realistic to think Bulls would give up Noah that easily.

Anyway, in my case, I want Favors more than Noah. I am looking at the long term future, not just the next 2 years or so. Favors got a higher ceiling.

It’s been known for a while that Hornets is in financial trouble and would be willing to trade Collison to anyone willing to take on Okafor. The Raptors can take advantage of this deal if they can obtain a TE from any of the Bosh S&T package.

As mentioned, I don’t think the Bulls would include Noah in the S&T, but my real interest is in the big TE that can be used to get Collison and Okafor.

The Jack and Evans for Diaw trade is realistic because the Bobcats is in the market for a PG.

There are not really any good PG in this year free agency with Felton being the best PG available.

Jack can be an ideal PG for Larry Brown.
    – he plays Defense
    – high character with leadership, extremely coachable
    – can pass a bit and score a bit

Larry Brown may turn Jack into Billup lite. (Billup wasn’t that good until he met Larry Brown).

Reggie Evans would just be an expiring contract. Larry Brown wasn’t too high on Diaw anyway, so the deal is realistic.

Note: a lot of Raptors fan would prefer to trade Jose Calderon, but then I don’t think he got much of a market in a realistic situation, so the Raptors might as well trade Jack instead of Calderon.

I think Amir Johnson at that point becomes close to useless because Favors would be getting all the back up mintues at the 4 and 5.

That’s why I think BC is crazy to make such a rush overpaid deal to Amir Johnson.

He really should have wait a bit as I am pretty sure if Amir gets any deal, he would take the deal back to the Raptors for a match. Then, BC can decide whether he’s worth the money and act accordingly.

    Another point of BC’s incompetency:
He always rushed out of the gate to get deals done right at the start of FA. Overpaying the players by outbidding himself while nobody else is in the run.

You just need to see what happened with Kapono, Turkoglu, etc, to see his incompetence.
