llperez5-Josh Childress. He apparently wants to come back and at 26 his game should be as good as ever. He defends, rebounds and runs the court well. This guy might never live up to the 6th pick in the draft, but dont think him going to europe was about skill. He can play and someone will enjoy having him. Only reason i put him 5th is becasue he is the only guy on this list restricted so its gonna be a little harder to pursue him.
4-Earl Watson. A lot of people are talking about steve blake, luke ridnour and other pg’s. But watson put up 8ppg, 5apg and 3rp in less then 30 minutes a night. He is a veteran who takes care of the ball and defends well. Not a guy you want starting, but he will put pressure on just about any starter in the league for minutes as he has done through out his career.
3-Matt Barnes. With a 1.6 million player option, it’s highly likely he doesnt excercise it and instead tests the free agent market after putting up 9ppg and 6rpg while starting every game for eventual eastern conference runner ups orlando magic. He defends and gets nasty on defense. Yet every year he seems to go under the radar after helping some team more then anyone expected.
2-Mike Miller. MIke is still only 29 years old and put up 11ppg, 6rpg and 4apg all while shooting a blistering 50% from the field and 48% from three point land. He plays smart and is unslefish as they come. This guy would be getting much more pub if it wasnt for him playing on one of the worst teams in the league last year. Not one team in the league he could’nt help and his asking price should be about half of the 10 mill he recieved last season.
1-Al Harrington. Say what you want about this guy never being on a winner being selfish or whatever. The guy brings it and put up stats (18ppg and 6rpg last season). He plays both forward positions, creates his own offense, which any team could use, and at this point in his career, hard to believe he is not ready to settle down and focus on winning. AL Harrington thus gets my most overlooked free agent award.

the I in winParticipantI’ve always thought Al Harrington would do very well in Rashard Lewis’s role in Orlando. If they got him and could move Lewis back to the 3 they would be my top 2 for favorite to win it next year.

omphalosParticipantI’d put Tracy McGrady in that category. Sure, he’s 31, but he has barely played for 5 years so his body can’t be that worn down. If he can bounce back from his injury concerns I believe he could contribute and perhaps even earn an All-Star spot again as he has said he will. He was clearly holding back with the Knicks to avoid reinjury on a wasted season. McGrady could be a big surprise this coming year.

ilike.panochasParticipantI think Brandon Haywood is some what over looked, considering he averaged 9PPG, 9RPG, and 2 BPG this year. No one talks about him, but hes one of the best centers in the league. Although I always worry about paying big money to Centers because they tend to get lazy after they get that fat contract. But for teams desperate for a big man, hes a pretty good option.

4 brandon haywood. good rebounder, good post defender solid big man.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantMike Miller is done… he has lost confidence, he refuses to shoot most nights.

marcusfizer21ParticipantAs good as Harrington is, he has been really selfish… I think he cares more about what he puts up than winning a game… He could always do that with the Knicks and Warriors but I don’t think he can do that on a championship team… I would definitely put Brendan Haywood in that list perez over Childress… I think Haywood’s value is pretty big considering he can be a huge presence on the defensive end for any team that wants him…

RUDEBOY_ParticipantGreat guys to have off your bench..But they’re inconsistent..You can get them after you’ve filled out yur other spots….I love Barnes defense more than his outside shooting…

GreenLanternParticipantAmir Jpohnson is seriously overlooked as an energy big off the bench

lolyouthParticipantExcept I think nobody is overlooking Matt Barnes. He is a great defender who can hit the three. His best comparison right now is probably Bruce Bowen. He got great exposure in the playoffs. He is a gritty, tough guy, great teammate that would fit well on any playoff team. I say all this to say he is not being overlooked, he is in for a substancial pay raise this year.
I totally agree with the Al Harrington pick. He plays both forward spots, can shoot well, real athletic and puts up numbers. He might be best as a high energy player off the bench, but I KNOW he can contribute. I think if Phoenix loses Amare they could at least take a look at Al Harrington as a very good player at a great bargain price. (Of course he couldn’t replace Amare but would put up big numbers with Nash and the Phoenix run n gun system).

mgreener_34ParticipantSadly I think Dirk is the most over looked free agent. I know most of you guys are talking about role players, but honestly Dirk is one of the best players in the NBA still, and because of all the other big names no one give him much attention.

thparadoxParticipantAmir is a very solid defender and rebounder. I think you’ll see a wise defensiveminded team like the Spurs pick him up.
Redick has become one of the most efficient shooters in the league… again a smart team will pick him up on the cheap.
