Why is the top seed the deciding factor in the mvp race like it’s the best conference? All I ever hear is the bulls are the best in the east so Rose deserves mvp. The west is clearly better from top to bottom and it takes away from what Rose is actually doing as a player. The top seed in the East doesn’t matter the conference has won 3 rings in the last 11 years so who cares who the top seed in the East is? I wish we could hear how great Rose has played because even if his team was in 4th he deserves the mvp this year

The west is better from top to bottom but the Bulls are 23-7 (.767) against the west, as opposed to 35-13 (.729) in the east. I don’t think the fact that they are a top the east is the deciding factor to him winning the award…..it just puts his case over the top.

When people talk about the MVP race and Rose you don’t hear about how great Rose is playing because there are four or five other guys in the league who are playing as well as Rose. This isn’t a fight that Rose can win, so better to not talk about it. You don’t want to talk about PGs who dish out more assists or guys that turn a bad team into a good team (the Bulls would be a good team without Rose, not as good, but Orlando and Mavericks would be D-league celler dwellers without their leaders).

MVP is about being the best guy on a good to great team. You can’t win MVP unless your team is one of the top 8 teams in the league and you had better be a real title contender. So how your team does is important in the race. Also, it helps if you haven’t won MVP in the past because voters like to look for a story instead of just voting for the best player in the game.

Only people who don’t know basketball would say Derrick Rose isn’t MVP this year.  He’s hands down the MVP and it’s not even close.  The people saying he shouldn’t be MVP are the same people who haven’t watched one Bulls game this year.

Not really. There’s 4 real candidates: Dwight Howard, Derrick Rose, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant

After the way he abused Rondo and the way the Bulls ripped the Celtics, it isn’t really close, hasn’t been in a while. You guys are all delusional like Hollinger. No one has taken games more personally this year and come up bigger against the best teams than Rose. What he did last night is what he has been doing all season. Go check the game logs.

    D-Rose keeps answering the doubts.

"He doesn’t get to the line enough."

Last 10 games 90/97 free throws (92.8%), 9.7 per game also made 42 of his last 43…not enough?

Last 21 games 163/179 free throws (91%), 8.5 per game

Even shooting 51% from the field for the past 9 games. He just keep getting better.

Well, Stan Van just got worked over with a little extra for saying Rose doesn’t have the impact of Howard, so clearly more people ought to hop on the “Rose is overrated” bandwagon. I think it is the same wagon as the one for Kevin Martin is an All-Star, but with a fresh coat of paint.

Its clearly Rose. Look at the body of work that he has done all year. Everyone forgets to mention that he played half the season without Boozer or Noah. Rose has the biggest impact on his team, when he plays bad they lose as simple as that. You cant say the same about most of the other players in the MVP race. I love Kobe but he doesnt have to play great for the Lakers to win. I think Dwayne Wade should be MVP before Lebron, Wade has had a great season but everybody talks about Lebron. Howard has had his best season and he really has a huge impact on defense, but the offense does not go through him. The Magic have used him more but still not the main option.
