drice4life1753ParticipantSomehow the early game doesn’t have a discussion thread yet, so here we go. I am taking MSU b/c I think their are too many parts of their team that can beat you, and we have hardly heard of Gary Harris this tournament who can really light it up. MSU has one of the best foundations in college basketball. A heady PG who is very savy (Appling), a electric SG (Harris), and 2 monsters down low in Dawson and Payne. For this game I believe the big men of Dawson and Payne will continue to be the story though. Let’s get ready for some good games.
Thoughts? Opinions?

TarHeelRavenParticipantI gotta go with Sparty in this one. MSU is finally healthy and Adreian Payne is playing out of his mind. UVA couldn’t stop him or Dawson last night. The game was one of the most physical NCAA tournament games I have ever seen. I gotta give love to UVA for their elite defense, but they just came up a little short. Sparty played tough also and I can’t see them losing to UCONN. I think they will contain Napier and I don’t think the Huskies have anyone else who can take over the game. Deandre Daniels had a monster game against Iowa State, but Michigan State is too tough, experienced and talented to drop this one.

HaleParticipantI picked MSU to go all the way but I’m rooting for U-Conn at this point. I know it’s cliche but Napier really is having a Kemba-like run and it’d be an awesome way for a great player to end his college career. I think MSU matches up with them pretty well though. Brimah will likely struggle guarding Payne and Dawson might be shorter but he should be able to keep DeAndre Daniels in check. Slightly off-topic, Daniels is really winning me over lately, dude has game.

SpartanGloryParticipantAn underlying story line to this game is Keith Appling’s recent play. He’s obviously still hampered by that wrist, which has caused him to be invisible on offense. MSU will need him if they’re going to take on one of the hottest PG’s in the country. I think Gary Harris starts off gaurding Nappier though. MSU wins 78-67

OhCanada-ParticipantBig game for Appling here. Going up against arguably the top PG in college ball this year scouts should be watching this matchup hard.

knicks4lyfe88ParticipantGood Game I expected Uconn to win playing what was essentially a home game Here in NY I think that played a small role. Especially in the FT shooting

HaleParticipantMSU’s offensive strategy sucked. Payne should’ve abused U-Conn down low all game. He was way too content to sit out on the perimeter and it killed them. Pretty sure MSU had under 10 points in the paint, that’s absurd.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantIf you would have told me that Wisco would beat Zona and The Conn would beat Mich. St., I would have told you to get off the meth. But it happened. Not sure how. But it did.
Last year was the 1st time ever I saw a team below-average down low throughout the season make the Final Four. But that doesn’t really count, as 6’10 Diaper Dandy Mitchy McGary went off in the Tourney.
Now, Wisco (about 250th in offensive glass percentage!) and The Conn (no one even averaging 6 boards/game!) make the Final Four. Never seen anything like this before!
Props to Coach Ollie and Coach Ryan.
