Demarcus OnealParticipantJeff Green is consistently producing on a playoff caliber team and is never talked about except in trade rumours since he isnt apparently a "true" power forward but puts up 17 7 every night

IndianaBasketballParticipantLamarcus Aldridge is actually overrated to me.
No real back to the basket game. Not a great rebounder. Not a great shot blocker. All that despite his physical gifts.

JJeff6ParticipantI agree with most of these, how about kevin martin and andrea bargnani this year. K-mart has been pretty good so far and Andrea is averaging close to 21 a game. Even though Andrea was a #1 pick, still under-rated at this point. Also Rodney Stuckey and Wilson Chandler.

stanford hoopsim not sure about overrated for Lamarcus because that would mean he’s talked about alot or made some allstar teams. No one talks much about him and people agree he’s a good power forward. i dont think He’s underrated either because he doesnt deserve to be a allstar or talked about more.
I guess it all depends on where they are overrated/underrated. On this site or with the general public

wd40rocksParticipantI think Earl "Nacho" Watson should be an honorable mention, the guy is exactly what you want from a back-up point guard. He’s tough, a solid distributer, and he always hustles. Also I would say Roy Hibbert should have a spot on the lower end of this list and Millsap should be very close to the top.

IndianaBasketballParticipantAldridge is overrated to me because the Blazers are paying him like he’s a franchise big. They think he’s a bonafied second option. He’s neither of those things in my opinion.

stanford hoopsHmmmm im not so sure. I like him as a second option on a team like the blazers. he gives you 18 and 8. isnt that good for a second option on a good team for 10million? Is’t his contract reasonable for a player putting up those numbers on a good team?..i dont liek the 14million he will get in a couple of years but how does he compare money and production wise to other second options on teams?
not as good as gasol
does the same as millsap
same as david west
better then the nuggest second option
wouldnt he be a second option on many teams out there?

JoeWolf1Josh McRoberts, everyone is always questioning why is he starting, but he is a gritty rebounder, doesn’t turn the ball over and is a good passing big man who knows his role with the team.
I also think Ty Lawson is underrated, once Chauncey is gone, he’s gonna show everyone what he can do as a full time starter.

IndianaBasketballParticipantAldridge is too passive. He can score, but doesn’t step up when it counts. He shrinks.
You can’t say that about David West. West is confident and aggressive… Steps up during crunch time. Can’t say that about Millsap either.
I think Aldridge would be best as a third option.

stanford hoopsYeah hes not very physical and Sometimes he does shrink but he doesn’t all the time. Ive seen david west shrink and settle for jumpers as well. Aldridge game isn’t power but hes just as effective as these other guys. KG was another guy who wasnt a banger but he was very effective in what he did. IF you expect Aldridge to be a banger then yeah he’s overrated but that shouldn’t be expected because thats not his game. Hes a second option on many teams in the league and a third option on the top teams ( lakers, boston, orlando) . He does the main thing you are supposed to do and that’s be effective. Id rather have that then a aggressive guy who isn’t very effective
I used to like Aldrige less because i kept focusing on what he isn’t then i started seeing what he is and what he’s good at and i started appreciating him more. He’s a boarder line allstar which is what a second option is supposed to be. Some times you get a allstar second option which is good but on average to above average you are very happy with a boarder line allstar pf who gives you 18 and 8 with 1blk a game

JJeff6ParticipantOn Boston and LA hed be more of a 4th or 5th option
Boston:
Paul Pierce
Ray Allen
KG
Rondo
Lamarcus Aldridge
LA:
Kobe
Pau Gasol
Lamar Odom
Lamarcus Aldridge
BTW the celtics arent in any particular order as to options, except lamarcus aldridge would be their 5th option

SwatLakeCityParticipantMost players are a 4, 5th or a worst option on the Lakers or the Celtics because they are just that good. The only player(s) that would be a first option on those teams are Kevin Durant, and maybe Melo. Everyone else would 3 or 4th option. So you can’t really say that Aldridge is overrated, PHX Suns 6, because of that, although I do agree with you, he is overrated just not for that reason.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI’d take KG over Aldridge this season.
KG isn’t the KG of 2008, but he’s playing very well. I think he’s a borderline All-Star. I wouldn’t be surprised if he made the All-Star team as a reserve.
And back to Aldridge… He’s not even the best post up player on his team Andre Miller is, which is a shame. Miller is a good post up guard, but he shouldn’t be the best post up option when you have a 6′ 11" 240 lb power forward with arms past his knees.

JJeff6ParticipantPut KG on the Blazers and hes getting more touches and scoring more, obviously hed still be the 2nd option behind Broy(if Roy ever stops getting injured..) and hed be more productive than Lamracus Aldridge. I still think KG is a better guy to have than Aldridge.
