festar35ParticipantWho has been the most pleasant surprise this season to you?
I would be lying if I didn’t say Paul George and Lance Stephenson, but keeping it outside the Pacers the guys I have been excited about this season are Eric Bledsoe and Steven Adams.
I figured Bledsoe would put up good numbers, but I didn’t think it would be on a winning Suns squad. Not only has he played well, he has helped this team to actually win.
The other guy is Steven Adams, I am a New Zealander and hope he would do well but had no expectations for him. He has blown me away with how well he seems to have adjusted, granted it helps to have Westbrook, Durant and Ibaka taking the pressure off him.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI’m excited about Bledsoe and Davis. I didn’t think Bledsoe would be this good and I didn’t think Davis would be this good this fast.
After their games, I HAVE to check the box score and they surprise me every time

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantBeing a Wolves fan, I’m completely sour on high-profile Syracuse players. The fact that MCW is doing so well (albiet in a small sample size) is a complete shock to me, and one of the most pleasant surprises of the season thus far.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI always like to see guys take their games to another level. Paul George is playing at an MVP level and looks like one of the frontrunners right now. Kevin Love is doing his typical damage but now his whole team is playing better. Anthony Davis looks like an all-star after breaking out.
I love rookies and MCW is playing very well for a surprising 76ers team. He looks like the ROY front runner, and maybe even an all-star. Tony Wroten is playing solid ball for them and I hope he can continue.
The Suns are the feel-good "surprise" team with Eric Bledsoe, the Morris Twins, Miles Plumlee, Gerald Green, and now Goran Dragic is back.
Mike Conley is playing very well and scoring the ball at a very high clip. He is helping keep the Grizzlies afloat.
I like that the Celtics are showing some Celtic Pride. They don’t have a ton of talent but they are still competing.
I am pleasantly surprised that the Sixers, Suns, and Celtics aren’t tanking even though many thought they would. Even the Lakers are hanging in there ok with Kobe being out.

King CaluchaParticipantAnthony Davis has been great lately. I must admit I had my doubts and it took me one year to get in this bandwagon. The kid can play.

XYRYXParticipantAnthony Davis, Adams, Bledsoe, George and Lance are all playing great so far.
biggest surprise has to go to MCW – by a landslide.
i’m happy that K-Love is back in top form and for sure Westbrooks early return is a pleasant surprise.
Biggest disappointment has to go to Anthony Bennet so far. First no luck and now even hurt.
Evan Turner has a great season too and seems to finally found his role as a leader!

yahn_pourneuxParticipantI think Monta is having a great year– hopefully he doesn’t take too much PT away from Vince Carter.

BogDon_KryptParticipantI hate to say this Yahn, but Monta is the new VC. The old VC will be riding the bench all year, if he doesn’t get cut before too long. But I could see the Bobcats picking him up so he could be reunited with Kemba Walker. Him and Walker used to play street ball together
0- Posted on: Mon, 11/11/2013 - 1:14pm #848923
yahn_pourneuxParticipantI’m pretty sure VC is at least like 5 years older than Kemba, so I don’t think they would’ve played together as kids.

GottaBeTheShoesParticipantAs a nuggets fan, Nothing about our season is or will be pleasant (unless we choose to tank and get a high pick). So I’ll go with MCW, Evan Turner, Etc. The Sixers and Suns were stripped down to teams that were expected to be absolutely horrible but you can’t tell these players to tank and they’ve played hard. Impressive 4-3 and 5-2 starts for them.
Kevin Love has went straight back to his pre-injury dominance. Paul George has exceeded expectations and proved me wrong for saying he was overrated. Chris Paul looks like he could average 12-13 APG. Orlando has shown their talent pretty well. Anthony Davis looks absolutely dominant, he’s a very very special player. Eric Bledsoe, as mentioned has played very well.

TRC1991ParticipantPaul Millsap’s been really good to start the year too

IndianaBasketballParticipantYep and so has Jeff Teague. He’s averaging 18 points, 10 assists and 1.5 steals.

JoeWolf1Roy Hibbert emerging as the biggest baddest rim protector in the league. 4.3 blocks and 9 rebounds per game in only 30 minutes…He’s at againt tonight with 4 blocks already in the 3rd quarter against Memphis.

mcbaileyParticipantYou’re a little late, though. He’s been an excellent shot blocker for quite a while. Indy just has never gotten this kind of publicity.
Anyway, my biggest pleasant surprise has got to be Paul George. He’s shown he has the ability to take over games, and that’s something the Pacers haven’t had since Reggie.
0- Posted on: Mon, 11/11/2013 - 4:27pm #848977
JoeWolf1There is a big difference between 2.6 and 4.3 blocks per game. 4+ is a historic start. No one has averaged more than 4 since Dikembe Mutombo in 95-96. I’d be like a guy averaging 21 ppg one year, very good, and then opening the next year averaging 35.
0- Posted on: Mon, 11/11/2013 - 5:42pm #849005
mcbaileyParticipantThat’s a fair enough point. We both agree that he’s absolutely killing it on the defensive end.

Afactor4ParticipantReally liking the play of Markieff Morris so far. 17 and 7 at 20% PIE while shooting 62%. All of the bench.
Actually his entire career has been a surprise for me: First, being picked ahead of his brother, then being a better pro than his brother (so far), and now putting up the numbers he’s putting up.
