That game was intense, it wasnt W’s vs LAL . It was Monta vs Kobe. They went at each other all game, towards the 4th it got extremely physical, they were jawing at each other like it was game 7 in the playoffs, they were throwing elbows. I was surprised it didnt escalate more

    Kobe: 39 points, 6 turnovers , 4 assists, 3 steals , 6 boards, 13-21, 11/11 FT’s

    Monta: 38 points, 3 turnovers , 3 steals, 3 assissts , 4-6 on 3’s and 15-26 , 4/7 FTs

2 sequences that were incredible. Monta brings the ball up uses a screen, waits a sec and shoots a 3 in Kobe’s eyes, then Kobe takes the ball up goes to the corner hits a 3 in his eye in Monta’s eye

    Earlier:

Kobe just muscles through monta and hits a 1 handed throwup falling down, lots of contact and no call, monta comes back, crisses him and hits a no look reverse. each player at certain points beat the entire team , monta drove through 4 guys and floated over the 5th, kobe spun off monta crossed 2 guys and floated over the next. Artest couldnt take Monta , too quick so Kobe guarded him most of the game after the 1st, monta was on Kobe all game . After the 1st hald he had more TO’s than made shots but then went all Kobe in the W’s eye. Both played really good defense but every shot was in the eye of the other. Last couple times they played it got testy with each other but Kobe always has said he respects Monta a lot. He respects competitors and people who dont back down. Both were extremely vocal out there as well

For the rest of the game it was  115 to 110 lal , they had a 10 point comeback . LA shots 18 more FT’s and outscored the W’s bench 29-14 . IF lal had a real good PG i dont think anyone could beat them, with that type of size itd be crazy . For the W’s they are a real good center away from being legit, Andris was killed tonight and only got 3 boards in 25 minutes and fouled out. He had more fouls then points and boards combined….. wtf

great game. Lakers were a little sloppy in the first half but played excellent in the second half. Warriors were just hitting shots and playing great right back at them. Monta was going off. Kobe had one of his best games of the season playing super efficient and hitting every big shot in the 4th.

Excellent game from Kobe, and great matchup between Ellis and Kobe, always fun to watch two players go at it like that. Kobe was the difference maker down the stretch though and was able to get the Win for his team.

But Odom was huge in the 4th scoring i think 14 points . Artest wasnt very good , his offense is what it is but Dorell Wright did really good on him offensively (27 and 7 and 4). Pau had a quiet 24 and 11

Kobe was asked about Monta and if he should be an all star

"Absolutely. He’s a fantastic player. Offensively he’s complete. He can shoot the ball well, which is something he’s really improved on. He can get to the rim, obviously, and he has a midrange game as well."

Kobe was asked about going off i the 4th : " when its go time its go time"

Artest did have seven assists though which atleast shows he was helpful in the Lakers offense even if he wasn’t playing well offensively (had like 10 points) and yea Odom was key in that late game run by the Lakers.

It seemed like everyone on the Lakers had a good game, Bynum had 7 blocks, Kobe almost for 40, Odom took over in the 4th, Gasol had 24pts 11reb, yet they barely won. Warriors really put up a good fight, despite being the much smaller team.

And Monta must have read that SF Chronicle article regarding his All-Star candidacy. He showed tonight he belongs to be on that ASG Roster.

lakers played great in the second half. FIrst half they turned it over too much. But it was close becasue the warriors were matching them shot for shot and firing right back. This is a game the lakers would have let get out of hand a few weeks ago.

Kobe said he should have been an all star last year and this year as well no questions. At least he’s got arguably the best player on the planets vote 🙂

Kobe ran up to him from behind  and had a conversation with him, a deep looking one face to face, supposedly for a minute or 2. Hes got Kobe’s complete respect, obvious encouragement to keep going hard like he is. I think he told him things will get better here.

IMO if we had a a legit center who commanded the paint defensively we’d be a solid 5-8 seed and Monta would get the respect the players know he deserves

warriors need an inside presence. But honestly nateoak, you watch them more then i do, do they play that well/hard consistently? It seems like they alweays bring it against the lakers.

I’m a fellow Warrior fan and it seems like we’ve been looking for a Center for the last 5 years. I hate the Ekpe Udoh pick, I wish we would gone for Greg Monroe. I’m hoping we get Enes Kanter next year to finally solve the missing piece.

    And @ Perez

Warriors has been playing their ass off all season long. Injuries is our achillies every year.

Then? No I hated it but he’s a great inside defender and has real nice post moves. i suspect he got a DNP tonigh cause Smart tried to protect him from LA’s front line (confidence keeper). Monroe is a soft no defense perimeter guy, not at all what we needed then or now. To get Kanter we have to trade up, if we get a top 7 pick the Nets get our pick from the Marcus Williams trade so we’d have to package Andris with a future 1st to get him I think

perez: we play real hard but its just no there right now, we get up for the really good teams a lot but always give up our nice leads late.

I’d do anything for Dwight here, seriously the way our team is set up he is a perfect fit (FA in 2 years fingers crossed) but I think we should look into trading BWright(3.3 expiring) , Gaz (7 mil expiring) and Vlad (6.8 expiring) for a rent a center for now and try to get Howard. Even if we fail who kows maybe we have Kanter 🙂 We have been looking for a center since Wilt and Thurmond 0_0

To me Udoh is Adonal Foyle all over again. The Warriors could use a low block scorer and Monroe could provide that, he’s not the defensive player that Udoh is, but atleast he’s not a one dimensional player, he has a good basketball IQ, has a higher upside than Udoh (he’s younger than Udoh and he’s already more polished offensively). I just think we missed out on a potential 15PPG 10RPG PF/C, instead we have a Adonal Foyle clone.

I’m not even getting my hope up on getting Howard, the chances are very slim, Orlando is a better team than Warriors, not sure if he would leave that place to come here. If Kanter can’t be had, perhaps someone like Fab Melo or if the Blazers don’t resign Greg Oden, I wouldn’t mind rolling the dice on him.

Well, afterall Monta is the second best player in the NBA.

Probably, Kob, then him, then LBJ.

In all seriousness though, Monta is one of the NBA’s hidden gems left. Kobe was his favorite player and he always seems ready to bring a little something extra against Kobe. Not all young guys can bring their A games vs. a team or player they’ve watched dominate as they grew up. Kinda like Shaq against Hakeem.

This was a battle. This would have been a true sense of DESTROYING if one out played the other because they were going head to head alot and not going off a bunch of picks.

It shouldn’t take a game like this to understand that Monta is the 3rd best shooting guard right now, and he is a legit top 20 player at the least.
