Monta Ellis to the Knicks?

On ESPNews, Chris Broussard said that if NY only gets Amar'e. Don't be surprised if NY does a S&T with Golden State and Monta Ellis. He said there were discussions in this.

What do you think?

if they dont get another star

if they dont get another star free agent, then sure. Ellis is a good fit for an uptempo system. But im not sure ellis, amare, gallo and some other pieces gaurantees a playoff spot.

yea thats true...

not sure if that gets them in the playoffs... but who do they give up to get ellis? NY doesn't exactly have that many players with a real worth... so who do they trade?

Chris said David Lee for

Chris said David Lee for Monta.

I would have to believe some other pieces would be floated into that deal ( players, picks, etc). I would love to get someone like Branden Wright with Monta

I wouldnt complain, I think

I wouldnt complain, I think Monta would benifit very well in D'antoni's uptempo system, but I question if he will ever be a point guard is he is just an A.I type small scoring 2Guard.

Here's why I like this. The

Here's why I like this.

The Knicks have 34 million in cap space.

Amare's base salary next season would be 16.5 million I believe.
Add Monta, that's 11 million.

We would have 6.5 in cap space left over. We could either save it, let Curry's deal run out and go for Melo or add a player after. Maybe Mike Miller or Ronnie Brewer for a nice sum.

you don't

need a point gaurd if all your O consists of pushing the ball and have very little structure. Ellis would be a great fit for NY. because he can score at eas.

I doubt we trade for Lee

That'd give us 4 PF's. Our GM wants either a center upgrade or a SF, preferably a SF in his mind. I can see the Knicks interested but I don't see the W's wanting Lee, were trying to get defensive help (The Udoh pick) and were trying to sign a defensive 3.

Can you post the link to the story?

No Story sir. Came out of

No Story sir. Came out of Chris Broussard's mouth. He said there has been discussions where Golden State ( He said the Warriors 1st, that was intriguing to me) and Knicks do a deal involving David Lee and Monta Ellis.

the w's would trade there 1st and monta for lee?

i HIGHLY doubt it will happen or even advance in talks. the fact is cohan wants to sell the team now, and he wants it a record price, the new owner will want to deal with the roster in his own way. if cohan keeps messing with the team the buyers will not be offering as much. its like if your at a grocery store and someone scratched there ass then touched your steak would you still buy the steak?

for nyk it makes sense but for gsw not only does it not fit what were trying to get with new players but it doesnt fit into our plans. were also keeping monta on a very high pedestal. needless to say we over rate our players and think our guys are super amazing. i also doubt we'd pay for a near max contract since our owner is in debt to the irs (a main reason for the sale). he dumped maggette for scraps and cap space, i doubt we take on a longer contract. it just doesnt make sense for our front offices thinking

did he say we called the knicks or you called us?

I said the Warriors called

I said the Warriors called the Knicks. No involving picks- I meant the Warriors called first.

I would love to do a deal like: Lee and Chandler for Ellis, Wright and 2nd rounder. I don't know if you think that's fair. I do, the W's get a combo wing and a player who could produce in a fast system. Maybe take out the 2nd rounders.

David Lee, Andreis Biedrins,

David Lee, Andreis Biedrins, Ekpe Udoh, Anthony Randolph, Ronny Turiaf, Dan Gadzuric, and Brandon Wright

please tell me why the Warriors would do that

David Lee - Biedrins - Turiaf - Gadzuric
Randolph - Udoh - Wright

thats a ton of depth and that would just be saying hey we picked Udoh 6th to ride the bench so i dont see it

Well, you just clumped alot

Well, you just clumped alot of big men in there.

Biedrens, Gadzuric and Turiaf are the Centers

Udoh, Wright are the Power Forward

Randolph is the small forward

I woudnt be shocked if we were dumb enough

But it would be terrible for us, god awful. He'd play center, we all know what that is like. I dont think it happens since some people think ellis is amazing and others think he is over rated. Lee was an all star so Im not sure how the Knicks FO feels about it since they can still maybe sign him. I just dont see this falling through, and I dont see any outlets picking up on it so I dont know how official it is. For our sale, the Knicks money going into next offseason (Melo) and our needs, I dont think it happens

So then, who's the 3? Please

So then, who's the 3? Please don't tell me Kelenna because that man would have to move to the 2 if they did my trade.

It is Kelenna

He'salways been a 3, just a small one. Him and Reggie Williams, were looking to sign a 3 as well. We contact Mike Miller and are interested in Josh Howard. A reporter in the Bay says Tmac is a dark horse and guys like Dorrell Wright look realistic

Knicks have no front court

Knicks have no front court depth at all

Earl Barron (D Leaguer), Eddy Curry, and Amare Stoudamire (if signed)

thats 3 guys and they have 3 small forwards so it would work

We'll say Wright

Stat - Curry
Wright - Barron
Gallinari - Fields
Mike Miller (or other free agent) - Rautins
Ellis - Douglass

Lee - Biedrins / Turiaf
Randolph - Udoh
Chandler - Williams
Morrow - Azubukie
Curry - Watson

Ellis should ntop be starting

Ellis should ntop be starting in my opinion. He is a great player but he should not have a roll where he plays 35 MPG. He gets abused by SG`s and does not have the right tools to be a starting PG. He would be an excellent Jamal Crawford, Manu Ginobli, Leandro Barbosa type guy top come off your bench and give you an intese scoring surge for limited minutes. All he does is score...

IMO The Knicks should

Knicks should do these moves as I said earlier

Sign Amar'e save cap room
S&T Harrington for Augustine and Diaw
S&T Lee and Chandler for Ellis and Randolph

Next Year: When Diaw, Curry, Walker and the rookies contracts are up re-sign none and
Sign Carmelo, JR,Shane Battier, Tyson Chandler and Joel Pryzbilia
Draft Kemba Walker

C- Stoudemire
F- Gallinari
F- Anthony
G- Smith
G- Augustine
Bench:
Guards- Ellis, Walker and Rautins
Forwards- Randolph and Battier
Center- Pryzbilia and Chandler

Any thoughts
