Don any of you think ellis can get into the all-star game. He is averaging 26 ppg 4 rebs 5 ast. He is doing all this but no one says his name for anything. If it is most improved or all star …..what you think ?

I believe he will be a All star and to be honest, he has the game type that can make the game very exciting…ala Tim Hardaway and Allen Iverson

Shaq talked botut his dude…It sucks because that means D-Will or CP3 or B-Roy won’t get their Spot if he does…& I think it should be CP3. He missed some games, but it’ll probably be D-Will especially with that injury

yeah monta ellis deserves hands down but it sucks because d-will hasnt made one yet and he got injured the other night so he isnt 100% so his stats might go down and he also deserves it.

don’t forget nash. Ellis is deserving, but so was Al Jefferson last year and when you have a bunch of guys who are all deserving, the one with the bad record get’s left out most the time.

well i think kobe, nash, roy and Paul are all no brainers ahead of ellis. So it comes down to ellis vs DWill. Who would you pick between those two?

I think the All-star Game should be more stats then record……”STARS” Not Teams Because i would see derek fisher in the all-star game……With the numbers he putting up he has 2 make it .

again, if a guy is hands down an all-star, then teams record shouldn’t matter. But are you gonna tell me that Ellis is hands down better then KObe, Nash, DWill, Paul or Roy? Because they only take 5 gaurds total.

I think you guys have to consider who the competition is before considering someone an all-star

As a guard, Ellis’ competition is Kobe, Steve Nash, B-Roy, Tony Parker, Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Chauncey Billups, and keep in mind only 5 guards go for each conference

Individual season wise he has been much better than Roy and D Will. Ellis is 6th in the league in scoring only behind guys like Wade and Kobe and 3rd in steals behind Rondo and CP3. He’s developed a 3 point shot at 30% and shoots 46% from the field. He has been better than Roy and D Will look foor yourself

Maybe better then DWill, but DWill is leading a playoff caliber team and is the guy who makes that team run. Roy has been balling every time I watch portland play and when you consider what they are accomplishing with all the injuries roy is leading that team. Ellis is gonna have better stats because his team isn’t very good. I’ll take the other 5 guys over ellis, but there’s still time if one them falls off before the all-star break then maybe Ellis over takes them. And 30% from 3 is not good.

The all star game should have nothing to do with the teams but just how a player is playing, and 30% is right around where Baron was when he was here, he can hit 3’s consistently if you have watched him lately. But team wise you talk about Roy and Will leading playoff teams. I’d like to see them lead a team of Biedrins,Curry,Maggette,Radmonivic (starting, wth), Chris Hunter , Cartier Martin,CJ Watson (garbage) and Morrow with Nelly as the coach. Also last night was the 1st time in NBA history a team was left with 4 players cause we had a low bench and people fouled out causing a rule to be used where the last guy to foul out stays on the floor for his team but each foul he commits is a technical foul. The Blazers are injured but have better scrubs than us. Radmonivic or Juwan Howard. That being said the only players that can lead this team woud be Kobe or Lebron and Ellis’ leadership has become one of the best things about him (all those trade things are dead). Player wise this year Ellis> Roy>D Will

Roy is leading his team and is carrying the load. He is the the 3rd best sg in the league, and you could make the case that he is playing better than Wade as well…Ellis stats are inflated. First off, GS stinks…Secondly, Ellis can do whatever he wants in that system. Ellis isn’t even on Roy’s or Will’s level IMO.

Oh yeah, and the Blazer’s have been playing with a 7/8 man rotation and they still have one of the better records in the league…Seriously, there is a reason why everyone has Roy as a serious MVP canidate.

Keep that Ellis is better talk in GS buddy. Blazers keep winning, GS keeps losing. Also, Ellis’s stats aren’t even better. Their pretty much the same and Ellis is averaging over 4 tpg. Not to take anything away from Ellis, but like I said…He’s not on Roy’s or even D-Will’s level.

Everybody only talks D-Will as a snub after the All-Star break. EVERYBODY, friggin’ EVERYBODY, says it’s “crazy” or “unfair” the Deron Williams has never been an all-star, yet he will get snubbed again.

    And again.

    And again.

    And again.

I think I got like -10 points on a post where I said (half-jokingly) Deron Williams will never be an all-star. Now Monta Ellis, Chauncy Billups, Tony Parker, Tyreke Evans and TRACY MCGRADY all appear to have a better chance to get in. BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

What’s really sad is D-Will really wanted to make it this year, seeing as how they are playing in his home-town. Oh well.

injuries and there status right now

    GSW

    PG – Curry, CJ
SG – Ellis, Morrow (just sprained his knee)
SF – Maggette , Cartier Martin (do you know who that is?)
    PF – Vlad, No one
C – Biedrins, Hunter (heard of him?)

    Blazers
    PG – Miller , Blake
    SG – Roy , Bayless
    SF – Webster , Pendergraph
    PF – Howard, Cunningham
    C – Aldrige

Mcmillan >>>>>Nellie… and you guys recently beat Orlando without Roy so this just proves as a team you guys are much better and it’s not Roy putting a ton on his back (dont get me wrong he has a lot on his shoulders but the rest of your team is very capable)

    Player wise

    Roy – 23.4 ppg , 5.1 apg , .348 3pt % , 4.6 rebounds, 79% free throws , 1.03 steals , 2.28 TO’s , 48% fg
    Ellis – 26.1 ppg , 5.3 apg , .301 3 pt% , 4.2 rebounds , 76% free throws , 2.24 steals , 4.24 TO’s, 46% fg

Looking at these it is extremely even and considering how small Ellis is I’m willing to say either he just as good rebounding or Roy is underachieving. Defensively Ellis’ game has gone from mediocre to straight up incredible and just as good if not better than Roy. He scores more and I’m willing to say full heartedly that Ellis would be scoring 25+ on most teams in the NBA. Roy is more efficient but Ellis is the more affective passer. Give Ellis a good coaching staff and a better team where he doesn’t have to do so much the turnovers would decrease, efficiency would be better. In conclusion Ellis is just as good if not SLIGHTLY better this year than Roy. Sorry numbers aint with ya and neither is the way they compare to each other on the court this year.

Wrong…nope. Nice try though. How would Ellis average 25 ppg if he is averaging 26 ppg on a crappy team? Ellis isn’t a good defender at all..Not sure what you’re talking about there. Like I said earlier, isn’t Ellis leading the league in turnovers? Like I’ve said, Roy is a better player and the team is better….There was a reason he was 2nd all team last year and Ellis wasn’t. Keep making excuses about the team, but the Blazers have been broken down all year and are still a 5 seed.

And. about the Orlando victory. Orlando has been playing terrible lately and Blazers always play good at home. Don’t put to much stock into it.

I mean really, you can’t even argue who’s a better player. Roy is more efficient, clutch, better leader, bigger guard and has 14+ victories on your team…Ellis puts up great stats, but so do so many players on crappy teams.

in the west there are like 6-7 guards that deserve to be an all star, kobe,nash,roy,d-will,cp3,ellis,billups and even brooks so it just cannot be fair. And t-mac will play so thats 1 less guy. Im a big fan on ellis but i think that he will not be an all star this year its just too much competition but he deserves that(if hes in the east he will be all star).

So are you saying Granger was better than Paul Pierce last year because he averaged more points? I don’t get what you’re saying. Ellis plays on a bad team…He puts up good stats…AND? Roy puts up good stats (more efficiently I might add) and they win…

“There was a reason he was 2nd all team last year and Ellis wasn’t.” Your ignorance cracks me up.. HE WAS INJURED. and terrible defense? you dont watch us too much do you? He was the one who held Kobe, Durant and ROY in consecutive games under 38% shooting and under 23 points. Your making your argument out of thin air buddy. Scoring shoudn’t effective him if he is on a good team. When we started to star randolph there was a 5 game streak where we beat Phoenix and Boston consecutively, got cheated in Denver (we basically won but the worst call EVER screwed us) and barely lost the Lakers. We also beat portland not too long ago. Your scoring argument is weak, Scorers score no matter where they go. Zach Randolph still scores, Joe Johnson when he went to Atlanta, Pierce when the team picked up KG and Allen still got his, Billups as well etc etc. You have no hard evidence to make any argument to say as individual player (forget teams) that Roy is significantly or noticably better. Durant put up great numbers last year on a crappy team, still puts up great numbers and there better. Orlando is still Orlando either way and lost to a team with “scrubs” (dont take that too heart). Your team just has better deph and talent and were both injured, You cant tell me your rotation is as bad as ours. 2 D leaguers, a guy who shouldnt be in the NBA, a center who is 50% and a garbage back up point guard. Still waiting on a good argument………

Because he hurt himself on a moped. LOL you got me there.

Scorers score no matter where they go? Haha good one. It’s true they score, but they don’t put up the same stats unless their the featured option (Kobe, LeBron) which Ellis wouldn’t be on a title contender.

Arguing with you. I can’t even believe how you think Ellis is having a better year. What a joke. He’s turns over the ball at a high rate, doesn’t play defense and isn’t a good leader (don’t know where you’re getting this leader stuff from he is very immature).

In conclusion. Roy is and always will be better. No question. There is a reason why Roy was 2nd team all-nba last year and is going to be 2nd all-nba team again. But it’s ok. Ellis is better because he averages 3 more points right? LOL what a joke. GS has 11 wins and you think he’s better. Wow. If Roy was on that team I can’t even imagine the stats he’d put up. They’d also have more wins.

But don’t take my word for it. Take the coaches who vote him into the all-star game and leave Ellis out for the well deserving Deron Williams. I guess Granger was a top-5 player last year because he put up monster stats on a bad team…Right? Because that’s basically what you’re saying. And stop with the whole “we’re injured” crap. Blazers lost so many players as well…It’s not even funny.

    Enough said.

Roy is better than Ellis. 95% of NBA fans would agree on that. To me it isn’t even close. Stats don’t mean jack.

Edit: Just read your last post. Good arguements, but no matter what you think, the coaches are extremely unlikely to vote Ellis into the all-star game.

And yes if you read the articles, listen to him after games and practices and how everyone on the team refers to him he has matured. Dont judge by assumptions. I agree his turnovers are horrible no argument there but the defense…. wow …. how many times have you seen him play this year? And Granger isnt a top 5 guy but is very underrated. Ray Allen was on a bad team for a while, was he bad? Pierce? Gasol?KG?Boozer?Arenas(when Wiz were good), Carter?Jackson?Redd? Must I go on? We can be done with this, but when your arguing with someone next time dont just make assumptions and have a solid point. It makes you much more credible

ellis is a first scoring option in gsw and he has the ball alot so i dont think that turnovers means something, and dont forget he played 6-7 times this year all 48 mins and and he plays 42 minutes per game so a think that he is an all-star but just not in the west and not this year

Ellis won’t be an All-Star this year, too many other guards that will be voted in over him due to a combination of how their playing this year and ho they’ve played in the past (remember, fans get votes too). I think he’s definitely played All-Star basketball this year though. Oh, and NO he’s not better than Brandon Roy. Lets not go overboard…

A lot of All-Star caliber players, but only 12 All-Stars. Ellis has had an All-Star caliber season, but… He’s not an All-Star. He plays on a terrible team and making the All-Star team in the West is just as difficult as getting into the playoffs in the West.
