I know it usually takes a while for them to be posted, and I am sure they are coming soon. Still, anyone do really well in their Mock Draft? I definitely did not do as well as last year, and I believe my score when all is calculated will be a 97. Definitely not my 103 of last year, but better than my incredibly weak 89 of 2009.

Another thing I wanted to bring up, is that people are spending all of this time talking about which site had the most accurate Mock Draft. Well, I would like to say, most sites seemed to be moving there Mocks around right up until 7:30, whereas those of us in the Mock Draft contest had too submit ours an hour before the draft started, as the listed time of 7 was only when the coverage started, not when the actual draft started.

So, I would like to say, those being patted on the back for their Mock Accuracy, on all of the sites, are cheaters. Hence, there disqualification from our contest. Sure, some sights were more accurate than others, but, I think if those sites did not have that extra hour or half hour, they would be in our same boat. A lot of information comes out in a short time, and there were major changes made to sites Mock Drafts within a matter of minutes. Just stating the facts, in my books, whoever wins the Mock Draft contest destroys us all in their prognistication abilities.

What’s the scoring system on the Mock Draft for this site? Thanks in advance.

My un official calculation is 108, I have no idea what Aran does with picks that were a couple picks different but in seperate rounds so I didn’t include those and just did the 1st round and the 2nd round as two seperate entities.  I hit 106 last year which was good for 23rd, I just hope I break the top 20 this year.

I had a medicore first round only getting 7 right on, but I got 27 or 30 1st rounders so I got a lot that were only 1-3 picks off.  I got 2 second rounders right on and the early and middle 2nd was pretty good, but as I’m sure most of us ran into the last 6 or 8 picks were waaaaay off, haha.

I need to score mine by myself first.  How does it go?  Is it 3 points for a correct pick, 2 for a pick within 1 spot, and 1 point for a pick within 3 spots?

    I will have to check.

I think I got the Goudelock pick right though.

My unofficial score is about 105.

@JoeWolf I assume the scoring you have in question would work like this:

If you have a player listed in the second round, but they go in the first round. I would assume that counts as first round scoring.

Example: You have JaJuan Johnson listed at 31, but he was picked in the first round at 27. This would be 2 pts since it is within 5 picks. The same rules apply for Nolan Smith in your mock, but since he was 10+ picks away then you get no points.

    Whereas…

If you have a player listed in the first round, but they go in the second round, then I would take that to be judged by the second round rules.

Example: You have Justin Harper listed at 28, but he was picked in the second round at 32. This would be counted as only 1pt, since any pick that isn’t exact in the second round is scored at 1 pt unless it is over 10+ picks.

So for Kyle Singler you would get 1 pt and for Davis Bertans you would get 0 pts.

This is how I think the scoring would go.  I mean, if you have a guy listed in the first round, but he goes in the second, it wouldn’t make sense to me if that pick is going by the first round scoring.

If the scores aren’t posted soon, I might take my previous mocks and see if I can total up to the score they show based on how I’m thinking they get scored. Then if the scores still aren’t posted, I might bust out an excel spreadsheet and see if I can make a way for everyone to configure their score easier. No promises though.

Does MikeyV need to cosign for this post it is getting kind of long?

I think Mikey V has a great point. Because I believe that the Milwakee-Sacramento-Charolette trade went down about a half hour before, the draft? Correct me if I am wrong. That in itself is an advantage. Nobody would have had Fredette going 10 to Milwakee, or Biyombo at 7 to Sacramento, and some sites have insider information, and update theirs right before the draft. But nonetheless, we came right behind DraftExpress in second, and I am certain Aran will get them next year.

The trade was mentioned much earlier in the day and i did have fredette at 10.

I had 7 exact picks but only ended up with a score in the low 80’s. Oh well. this was a much harder draft to predict. Last year the first 6 picks were all rumored before the draft and they went in order like was rumored i believe. I think the first surprise pick was Gordon Hayward at 9. This year it was Thompson at 4 and there were also many rumors that the Jazz like Knight at 3.

My unofficial score is 91 points, not good at all. Just 7 correct, with one in the second round.

My second round was awful. I had so few right picks, it was mindblowing. The Sacramento-Milwaukee-Charlotte trade went down long before time was up, I think about an hour or so before hand, so I actually factored it in. All the info on scoring is here:

    http://www.nbadraft.net/2011-draft-day-challenge-0

Jamie Y is of course the King of all Mock Drafts, and his scores commonly show it as such. Personally, I know that counter says that draft was uploaded at 6:31, but I think they must have had some strange timer on there, because I remember looking at his draft and seeing Singleton at 9, Kemba at 12 and Knight at 5. He had Biyombo at 7, though he said that was due to them taking him over Tristan Thompson. So, he has Knight and Walker going to Charlotte? The new Curry/Ellis? Please! It seems a little weird to me, that is all I will say. I think next year, I will be keeping a closer eye as to when everyone finishes there last Mock Drafts. Plus, Chad Ford is always expelled, because he almost starts his when the freaking draft starts. Nonetheless, this was a down year for Mock Drafts in my mind. Jamie, I am sure the scores will be uploaded soon, and you will probably win again, so keep the spread sheets at bay.

Oh I know I didn’t get first for a fact. Unless I had some scoring error, but JoeWolf has a score in the 110-114 range.

You are right, this was a tough year to mock due to the trade just hours before the draft started and the mocks being locked a little early.  I was reduced to about 15 minutes to make some quick edits, since I was just getting off work and finishing up some other stuff. I can’t remember for sure, but for the 2009 mock I’m thinking I made changes with less than 30 minutes before the draft started because I remember throwing Jennings to the Bucks.

I would think a winning score this year would be 110-115 range.  Which is pretty impressive in such an unpredicatable draft compared to the past two years.
