    F_S mock

bobcats: bazz and mkg, bright future ahead. keep rebuild around the stud wings

    .

was: cody, gives them another high-character player ready to win. helps out wall in the half court with his post up game as well as run the floor with him.

    .

cavs: nerlens and pj hairston: brings more defense to their front court with nerlens, and pj gives them a versatile wing to who can play off the ball and stroke it from three

    .

NO: tony mitchell: gives them the chance of playing big, playing him at SF with anthony at PF, or go small with mitchell at PF and anthony at C. mitchell would further develop his defensive skills next to anthony. poythress would also fit the bill here

    .

kings: alex poythress at SF, trob at PF, and cousins at C. WOW… massive front court with tremendous potential. alex gives them a needed versatile defender

    .

utah: lorenzo brown and kentavious: best PG in the draft together with one of the best 3 point shooters to spread the floor for all their bigs. great package.

    .

houston: rudy gobert and purvis: they get a high potential C who they can develop under mchale. purvis brings the ability to play either guard spot as well as bring potential.

    .

detroit: porter, get their future SF. another georgetown player to team up with monroe. a front court of porter, monroe, and drummond looks promising as well.

    .

minny: goodwin, jeff withey: goodwin gives them that potential go-to scorer they need at the 2, and withey bring defense for kevin love at the C spot.

    .

portland: saric, a future of lillard, saric, and leonards sounds very promising. and they compliment each other

    .

bucks: adonis, hard worker wing who can defend multiple positions and play off the ball for monta and jennings.

    .

phoenix: jamaal franklin and mike moser: two players who would really benefit playing with marshall. fraklin in extremely energetic and finds holes on the defense to make excellent backdoor cuts. mike moser gives them another SF who can play some PF as a stretch 4.

    .

heat: mccollum: can run the fast break, spot up for three ready to contribute.

    .

knicks: trey burke: main reason to have him here is his ability to shoot spot up threes for the knicks. he would run the P&R with chandler

    .

mavs: kyle anderson: they get a similar production they were looking for in lamar doom. anderson just seems like a player cuban would love.

    .

    orlando: ryan harrow: potential

    .

nugs: myck kabongo: i love this pick, karl would make kabongo blossom in that up-tempo offense. andre miller is getting old

    .

celtics: cj leslie, doc rivers would make this kid a top player from the class. he would benefit so much playing with rondo and KG.

    .

clips: dieng, brings hustle and hard-work to their front court, something blake and jordan should rub off of. can play back up for either PF or C.

    .

pacers: ray mccallum: get a potential stud at the PG position who isn’t exactly a great play maker but isn’t a combo-guard either.

    .

okc: trevor mbkawe: this guy would learn a ton from serge ibaka

    .

chicago: tim hardaway jr: a SG who can play off the ball for rose once his shot starts falling or help him with the load in scoring and create his own shot from time to time.

    .

spurs: patric young; could develop him into the steal of the draft

    .

I’m really high on James McAdoo. He can shoot up on the board and become the second overall pick. The guy true position will be at SF at the next level, that can play the 4 well like Shawn Marion.

I agree with you about McAdoo. I started paying more attention to him after the first game of the NCAA tournament when he started for an injured John Henson. Even though he was highly recruited, it was easy at times during his freshman year to sort of forget about him with all the other high profile, non-freshman talent on the team.

I’m not too familiar with UNC’s incoming recruitment class, but it looks like this will be McAdoo’s team and I think he will do well as their first option.

What SF skills has McAdoo shown?

Although McAdoo’s natural position is clearly the 4, his ball handling skills are good, and even though he hasn’t shown it in his limited court time in college, he was touted to have good outside shooting as well. I think he has the athleticism to be able to defend 3’s in the league, but we will see.

That being said, he is 6’9 with a 7’1 wing span and has above average athleticism, so I think he will be able to handle defending most 4’s. Some think his size/game leaves him as a little bit of a tweener. But I think he could be a good combo forward. The Marion comparison (position-wise) isn’t bad, IMO.

I never saw anything prior to him coming to UNC that would suggest that he could either handle the ball or shoot from the perimeter like a SF.  Quite frankly, I think both of those aspects of his game are poor by SF standards.  He might have the athleticism to defend SFs, but it could come down to comfort and technique. He’s used to guarding bigs and he naturally has a high stance. I saw him try to guard Dorian Finney-Smith in HS and DFS made McAdoo look silly, turning him completely around on dribble moves.  I think there’s still Youtube footage of their matchups. Just search: Norcom vs Norfolk Christian.

I think that we just have differing opinions based on what we have observed to this point. I haven’t seen the game or games that you are referencing. At this point, I won’t be going back to watch high school footage. I think I am better off just watching him as the go-to player with UNC when I eventually get a chance.

In my prior post, I stated that his natural position was at the 4. That being said, I still believe that his lateral quickness, basketball IQ, length and athleticism will allow him to guard the 3 in the NBA. I also think his offensive game is more versatile than some others seem to think. But maybe we will get a better look at more of his offensive game this season.

You made mention that you think his ball handling was below average for a 3. When I watched him I remember thinking that his ball handling skills were above average for a 4. We were looking at this a little differently, but still differ on opinions. It happens. Also, I know that McAdoo will need to improve his outside shooting, a skill which he hasn’t shown yet at the college level. But for what it’s worth (and I don’t think it is worth much, as I dont put any weight into high school stats), Mcadoo shot 44% from outside when Norfolk won the state title. Doesn’t say much, but maybe shows some potential.

Either way, I see potential for him to be an effective combo forward in the NBA. But I’ve been wrong many times before! Time will tell.

Do you not see Steven Adams as a first round talent? Or do you not expect him to declare for the 2013 draft?

Last I had heard, many predicted him to declare. That may have changed, though.

If you purposefully left him off for another reason, care to elaborate?
