The Minnesota Timberwolves are starting to put it together.

The Foye-Billups comparisons aren't looking too bad these days. As Foye matures and becomes a better defender that comparison looks to be right on track. He is a fearless shooter off the dribble in the clutch, much like Billups. Carney is continuing to be a huge presence, especially in the later quarters. If his consistent plays continues he will see a contract in the 3-4 year range for $4-5 million per year. If we're able to keep our draft pick from the Clippers (1-10) we might not sign him. I'd imagine we'd look at a starting Guard with that first pick and you've gotta believe that James Harden, Brandon Jennings, Jeff Teague, Stephen Curry, and Jrue Holiday will all probably be gone by the time we have our second pick from Miami. This is considered to be a draft with more role players than starters, so you'd have to keep Carney, especially as of late, because he's at least looking like a future starter. I think that Jennings would be the only player out of those five we wouldn't take. He's got a great handle and pretty good athleticism, but like Sebastian Telfair, they both lack consistency on their jumpshots as well as the strength and size to consistently take it to the hoop to score or draw a fouls. Jrue Holiday is going to be a great starter, not a huge numbers guy, but he's a playmaker on offense and defense, plus he's got decent range and good athleticism. Jeff Teague is going to be very good too, possibly an All-Star at some point. He's an enigma though, he's extremely difficult to stay in front of, and the quickness he possesses at changing direction with the ball is unparalled in the NCAA, but he's a turnover machine. In the NCAA you always have to wonder about guys like him and Stephen Curry because they play on teams that aren't at the same level they're at. You get these guys around real pros and they'll be unstoppable. Take a look at what Bob Knight said about Curry, "Best Passer in the NCAA". It's on Chad Fraud's ESPN 2009 NBA Draft page. Teague and Curry are the two best playmakers in this draft, there won't be one NBA executive that will ever question these two players vision and passing skill after they have their pre-draft workouts. They're both Top Ten picks for sure. What's helping Teague and Curry develop a little more this year is the NCAA taking that three point line a foot back. It has opened things up a little, but believe me, it's still mighty crowded in the paint, just like it will be in the NBA, where quickness and athleticism dominate defense. This gives them the chance to develop the touch to put those passes in tight spots, and they're playmaking skill are developing quickly. If you've watched Wake or Davidson this year you know what I'm talking about, but it's unfortunate to see half of those passes off the drive turn in to turnovers from their teamates having a lack of focus. Just imagine what Lebron would've looked like if we would've gone to Akron and played for the Zips. He would've had at least five turnovers directly from teamates not being able to handle the quick pass. The NCAA is looking more and more like High School Basketball. The great to good players leave in the first two years and then the rest just suck. Lawson, Hansbrough, Harangody, and Darren Collison are all role players at the next level, and that's at their best. Teague is a lot like Steve Francis, but with a better attitude as well as better vision and passing skill. Curry is beginning to look like a cross between Steve Nash and Sam Cassell. Harden will be out of our range, unless we get the Bulls odds. There's a lot of Brandon Roy and Manu Ginobli in his game. Hopefully he doesn't have the injury streaks like those two. What now Roy! Foye's going to be better, hope you like wearing those street clothes on the bench, because that's going to be the main theme of your career. On a more serious note, I've heard that was the only concern teams had of him in the 2006 NBA Draft. MJ, how did you pick Morrison over Roy, Aldridge, Gay, Foye, Ronnie Brewer, and even Rodney Carney. I didn't know you could pay back Vegas Bookies by selecting a a garbage player, does Vegas really bet on the NBA Draft? Somebody with the League office might want to look into that. Come on, how can you ever trust any NBA Executive that selects Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison type players in the first three picks of any two drafts, ever?!?!? McHale, you're only the second worst executive ever, decent coach though. Keep rollin' Wolves.

You are an Idiot... I liked Foye coming out of the draft too... Didnt really kno too much about B. Roy... But you have no right or evidence that says Foye will be a half the player ROY is today... Foye had a 4 good games and you ready to give him an All-Star label and saying that he is better than Roy because Roy was injured for a week... LOL... you are nuts... Clutch shots? I watch Roy beat the Rockets wit a 3 in .8 seconds... Roy was ROY when Foye prolly didnt make the All-Rookie team... And he is an All-Star and will get selected to his second one this year... Pretty good for a 3rd year player huh? To say Foye will be anywhere close to that is a stretch then to say better!! LOL... Try again....

Just your two average morons on NBADRAFT.NET.

Hey tuck243, do you know what sarcasm is? Of course Roy is better than Foye. I'd imagine you're one of those wannabe basketball fans that just look at box scores and numbers rather than actually taking the time to watch basketball. No, I take that back, you probably do watch basketball, but I'd imagine it's only the highlights on Sportscenter. Watch a Wolves game first, and then tell me what you think of Foye. You're right, he's not as good as Roy, but I'd sure as hell take him over Adam Morrison or even Rudy Gay. grwgoden08, you're probably another fake basketball fan that reads stat lines and doesn't actually watch games. I'll give you some advice, plead with your mother to finally get cable, or move out of her house, get your own place, and watch a Davidson game. Curry's got game, it's just too bad that your view on him is based on a box score or news highlights. Thanks for making me laugh today guys.

The Next Portland?

One thing that really stands out to me about the T-Wolves is that they have A LOT of draft picks this year. I know this particular draft class is going to be pretty weak, but if Minnesota can get the best value available at each of picks in the first round, they could really see a huge turnaround (maybe playoffs) in a few years. The reason why Portland is doing as well as they are now is because Pritchard did wonders in the draft and traded for a lot of future first and second round picks. To me, the 2009 draft is the perfect opportunity for Minnesota to start doing the same thing.

role players

I know people have said that this draft is only full of role players but that's all we need IMO. We have Jefferson and Foye as our most basic core and as long as we get more players to compliment them then we should be fine. Jrue Holiday would be the best guard for us. He's a defensive minded player that plays under control and I think that's all we need. I'd also like us to pick a centre somewhere whether it be BJ Mullens, Cole Aldrich or Jerome Jordan. Finally a defensive wingman would be a nice addition too. Terrence Williams, Evan Turner, etc. Finally for tuck, you're a dikhead. Foye DID make the all rookie first team and 1 3pt buzzer beater by Roy doesn't put him over the top of the clutch play that Foye has had since McHale became the coach. Try actually knowing what you're talking about next time you spew crap like that.

Just keep spazzing dude. You're just a big joke.

First of all, I see that you're too ignorant to spell correctly. He's called Fourth Quarter Foye for a reason buddy. This is what the guy does. Also, you don't have to put words in capital letters to get your point across. Hey spaz, I hope and pray that your anger problem doesn't effect your children. Relax tuck243, when you make uneducated comments you give people ammo to attack, I would advise you to stay off this site, watch your supposed League Pass subscription, gain some basketball knowledge, and then come back and post. Also, by the way you use engish I'd imagine that an employer probably wouldn't be willing to pay you any more than minimum wage, which would make the League Pass thing most likely a lie. Is your income coming in via Burger King or Welfare these days? Nevertheless, thank you again for giving me a laughing fit.

I wrote to your other comment on B-Easy. You are really a joke and just because I talk and write in Ebonics doesn't mean I work for minimum wage or on welfare... Seem like a racial comment. Actually since this isn't my website or WE are not getting paid to write perfect. I can say or write however I so choose. Furthermore, I am a Air Force vet, Government employee, and a full-time student at Georgetown U. in D.C. Get on my level HOMEBOY!!! Back to what this is about BASKETBALL... Never heard of that name for Foye, is that something yall started calling him this year in that horrible state called Minnesota? LOL... What is uneducated about my comment? Foye is decent nothing more. Too inconsistent... I can go thru your posts and nik pick at a lot of stuff you are not right about... Aldridge was the #2 pick how did Jordan pick Morrison over him at #3? LMAO... Im a grown a$$ man so watch what you say to me!!! LOL....
