Miller to Knicks?
Now that Grant Hill has decided to return to the Suns, the Knicks are rumored to be targetting Andre Miller. I think this is a big mistake. Miller is not a very good shooter or scorer. He is a good distributor, but any guy off the street can rack up assists in D'Antoni's system. Miller is 33 and on his way down. The money that we would offer him could easily sign a free agent like Ramon Sessions who I'd love for the Knicks.
Why are the Knicks trying so hard to overpay for old players such as Kidd, Hill, and Miller when we werent willing to spend to keep Lee here?
I think, we should stay put. We could wait it out and see if anyone wants to add Hughes, Curry or Harrington for a title run
seriously, we need to stop targetting old guys..
No one on our roster is older than 30, and i like it that way..
We just aim for young talent
Rubios? Sessions? At worst maybe even Jarrett Jack, but we need young, but talented players
I dont think we addressed our needs at PG.
Duhon cant hack it, Nate isnt a PG if he stays, and I'm not sure Douglas can run an offense.
I like Session's size and skillset. He is one of the more promising young PG's in the league.
I dont think the addition of old-talent will convince a big-name free agent to come here.
I agree.....The Knicks need to stay young....getting old guys is straight up stupid. Miller is a solid player but he doesn't make the Knicks a playoff team so what is the point. Also Miller isn't the type of PG that is going to attract LeBron or Wade to come and play with him. They need to sign Sessions. I have a feeling the Bucks won't match most offers for him because they have faith in Jennings. Plus they still have Ridnour. Jarrett Jack would be a descent pickup if New York can get him cheap. I think the Knicks need to sign Sessions, McCants, & Lee and call it a day. Then next year add the big boys.
Agree Duhon is a solid backup PG at best. Nate & Douglas are both combo guards IMO. So now that the Knicks have Douglas I would just let Nate go unless they can sign him cheap.
I think he'll end up playing for our qualifying offer. I dont think we'd bother matching someone elses contract but no one seems interested.
I definitely prefer Douglas for his defensive ability.
It would have been nice if the Knicks did what I had hoped for and took a chance on Livingston last year. He would have been nice in this system and a backcourt of him and Douglas could have worked.
Oh man...Livingston would've been perfect.
If the Knicks could find a way to trade Curry, Harrington, & Hughes that would be ideal. However, I just don't see it happening. Harrington is the only one that could really help a playoff team.
What the Knicks should do
Offer Ramon Sessions 5 year-33.5 mil ( or MLE)
then find ways to move Lee ( who looks like he will resign)
and then try to add another shooter.
What shooters are available? I would be happy with signing Sessions.
i actually am a fan of Chris Duhon he started off on fire, but then when his two top scorers Crawford and Randoplh were dealt he had to score himself which is not his forte, resulting in missed shots, bad chemistry and eventual losses
I think we should take a look at Adam Morrison. See what we have to give up for him
He avg 11ppg rookie year, got hurt then traded. He could be the backup SG and have Douglas focus on playing backup PG
y wait you try to win now thats y many people cant be gms lebron might not come
andre miller is not a good fit though
The knicks should stop looking to overpay for some old and still aging veterans. And look to resigning Lee there best player. And look to add a young guard or wing who can really fill it up from anywhere on the court. Like Sessions or maybe even a guy like Rashad McCants. I mean the knicks like to run up and down the court and score. McCants will fit perfectly with his skill set and the style they now play it would be like as if he was back at UNC!!!!
Oh and I just read where the Knicks are thinking about a sign&trade to get Andre Miller. The Knicks would send Duhon to Philly. The 76ers want more than just Duhon though. Overall this isn't a terrible idea. I like the Knicks and it just so happens that Duhon is my least favorite player on the team. I don't think Miller is the answer but hey he is certainly an upgrade.
Knicks should try a sign & trade with the Bucks so Brandon Jennings and his boy Duhon can be on the same team lol.
i am a fan of miller but he won´t help winning this season. but i think he is the type of ponit guard everyone would like to play with. he does everything pretty good and is a exellent distibutor. if they put some other talent around him i think that could very well draw some FA.
miller can run a team and that is important you need such a guy and you need verterans. but it is obviosly a year to early to go for someone like him!
I do not like Andre Miller at all so all you Knicks fans can have fun with an old, slow, poor shooting, questionable decision making especially for a veteran, and weird (doesn't interract with teamates in the offseason) point guard. lmao at the Knicks even thinking that Miller would attract FA's to NY.
I wouldn't mind the knicks taking Andre Miller because if Miller leaves the 76ers they'll struggle making the playoffs, or miss it all together. As for Ramon Sessions, I feel that the knicks don't want him b/c if D'anotoni had wanted him the Knicks would have been courting him on July 1st and forgot about all those old guys they were courting. I am hoping a team gives Nate an offer so we can get rid of Jeffries/Curry, and get rid of the other at the deadline.
i find it interesting how some knicks fan talk about everything ny has and how lebron or other free agents would love to come there yet i dont think one free agent this year had ny high on there list and alot didnt even have ny on there list....and it wasnt all because they are waiting till next offseason because they did target a couple players who turned them down
