Michael Porter Jr

New ESPN article with MPJ says he is pain-free. Many have written him off for duty this year, can't say I expect to see him start the season but I could easily see him get in the lineup by DEC. Gonna juice that Nuggets lineup taking it to top 3 in offense IMO. Definitely can be a ROTY candidate, looking forward to seeing him thrive in the Jokic offernse !!

Overrated. Been saying this

Overrated. Been saying this even before his injuries. He's a good prospect and the Nuggets have a chance to develop him into quite a player but people talk about him like he's a surefire superstar/next coming of Kevin Durant.

Considering

Considering some of the posts I have seen from you, this makes me feel more confident already . MANY of the pre-draft prognosticators thought he'd be the #1 overall pick prior to his injury and now he's saying he feels pain-free ? Being drafted at #14 will be motivation for him to show that sweet shooting touch he previously displayed to the rest of the lottery teams that passed him up. On top of that, with Jokic's passing skills, I can see a few more triple-doubles in HIS future as well.

I would like to hope for him

I would like to hope for him to not have an ongoing reoccurring injury to his spinal cord like one of my favorites, T.J. Ford. For Ford to have to call it quits early killed me a little on the inside because I patterned my game after him after watching him in the 2001 McDonald's All-American Game.

Do you always post-stutter or

Do you always post-stutter or just trying to increase your post count ?? LMAO

I'm not saying he'll be Durant but I feel confident saying he'll if he gets into the rotation by DEC he'll be a ROTY candidate.

MPJ has the wrong mentality

MPJ has the wrong mentality and is gonna get a reality check. He just said he wouldve averaged 30 and 15 in college after being confronted for liking an IG post that said Luka Doncic is overrated. Come on. Whats up with these kids nowadays.

The reason I think he isnt a superstar talent is. His stance is too upright, lacks ballhandling, believes he can take and make any shot, has average first step, doesnt create for others. He's a talented player but there are pieces missing.

But we'll just have to wait and see how it turns out. I dont really think Denver is gonna have minutes available for him. They seem invested in Will Barton as a 3 and he isnt cutting into Millsaps minutes at 4. At best he will be competing for forward minutes off the bench with Hernangomez and Lyles but those are good players as well not just some scrubs that he will immediately get playing time ahead of.

Very close to Laury

Very close to Laury markkanen? That's so bad it's funny. Barring injuries, porter he will be more comparable to Vince carter than Markannen. And I do like the Durant comparison as well.

Okay, I'll admit that

Okay, I'll admit that pre-injury MPJ was #1 on my big board ahead of Doncic and then Ayton.

But... now that we know his injury history (which is still worrisome) and being able to spend an extended amount of time breaking down his game and seeing those holes in his playmaking and defense, I no longer see him at the top.

I believe that he compares well to a player like Michael Beasley in terms of production and value

For his rookie year I'm expecting/projecting roughly 9ppg, 4rpg

Well, given the depth the

Well, given the depth the Nuggets have and him coming off the injury, I don't see him lighting up the NBA but I could see 11-12ppg and 5rpgs coming off the bench.

I can see him jumping into the starting lineup in his sophomore year and bumping up to the 17-18ppg range

Thats more reasonable I can

Thats more reasonable I can get on board with that but I dont see him competing for rookie of the year. Just too much depth on that Nuggets team and we can argue about how talented he is but he hasnt played any structured basketball aside from highschool and two games of college so you gotta expect a learning curve. When he completely recovers I see him getting around 7 points and 18 minutes per game.

Not with that stroke

If MPJ is getting 18mpg I can easily see him scoring more than 7ppg especially with this sweet stroke.

I've been super high on

I've been super high on Michael Porter Jr. since his sophomore year of high school. He reminds me of a modern Chris Webber; he's got great coordination and touch inside, and on the perimeter, he's comfortable shooting off the catch or dribble. He's just a natural; he's fluid and effortless and he's got a little bit of a chip on his shoulder.

I absolutely love the situation in Denver, too. They are going to be super conservative with him, which will mean he isn't going to play much his rookie year, especially with a vastly underrated roster returning. I think this is a home-court playoff team if they can get a little nasty in them. SF is the spot where they aren't quite as strong right now, with Will Barton and Juancho, who are obviously more of role players than stars. But next year and the following year, Paul Millsap will be less and less involved, and with Jokic, Murray, and Harris all willing passers, Porter Jr. will eventually assert himself.

Denver have moved Wilson

Denver have moved Wilson Chandler so it has freed up SF minutes. MPJ will have to work to get his share of these but he has the ability to be a good NBA player. Denver are a young team really apart from Paul Millsap so they should have decent upside.

I don't see them rushing MJP back but they will want to see him in action in due course.

I probably saw Porter play as

I probably saw Porter play as much as anyone dating back to junior high and I will say he actually has a good nose for the ball as a rebounder. Even limited and rusty in his minutes with Mizzou he rebounded well. If healthy and given playing time, I think he’ll eventually average 10+ per game in the NBA.

He’s a hybrid 3/4 in the modern game, can shoot the 3 and can also get easy buckets around the basket by being a smart player and moving away from the ball. He got a lot of points in the paint in the EYBL, which you don’t expect with his lean build.

He definitely has some things to prove as a play maker and shot creator. Right now he is a play finisher, either catch and shoot or around the basket. If healthy, I think he has a very high ceiling, but he’s far from a finished product. He will have to work on his game to reach his potential, so we’ll see.

As for the 30 & 15 comments, that’s obvious nuts, but that kind of loose talk and look at me I’m saying something crazy, please pay attention to me is a part of our culture. It makes people like me who grew up being taught humility and ran away from attention and getting our picture taken physically ill, but if you held that against one 19 year old you’d have to hold it against them all.
