I allways was a fan of Beasley’s upside and I hoped he would become a great Small/Power Forward. A franchise player.
Now that he failed to suceed in his first two years, how will he do with the Wolves?
Does he fit in their triangle offense, which requires that your head’s in the game all the time?
Who are they going to trade in order to clear space for him?

You have to trade Jefferson or Love. Right now it seems like no one wants Jefferson. I think Beasley can live up to being pick number 2 overall if he was the go to guy. It didn’t work out in Miami cause of Wade but Beasley can do it in Minnesota. Having Flynn, Rubio, Beasley, Love, Johnson, etc is a solid core to build around.

dang since when did averaging 15 pts and lik 6 rb at the age of 21 become bust numbers lol. He actually plays so D and he had to it in a system that was not great for his game.

bust. His only impact on the game is scoring. He doesnt create for teammates. He isnt a good defender. He sint a good rebounder for a pf. And his offensive skills aren’t even good enough to make him a go to player. He is a guy who’s stats far outweigh his actual impact on the game. Not sure how he will fit in with minnesota, but considering they got him for a 2nd rounder, no harm done.

some of you guys on this site have some very high and sometimes unrealistic expectations. His 2nd year numbers are similiar to Kevin Durant rookie year and KD was the man his rookie year. He is maybe one and a half year behind a top 5 player in the NBA.

but you are just lookin at stats sheltwon. If you watch him and see a guy who should have gone #2, i dont know what to tell you. Al harrington puts up stats too, are you gonna call him a star? There is so much more to being a top 5 player in this league then stats, and beasley brings none of it. You really think the heat would trade a future top 5 player for a second rounder? Or that the nets would rather 3 mill in cap space by keeping keyon dooling over getting a future top 5 player?

So if love or Jefferson are going to be moved, who do you guys see as Minny’s starting 5 next season? With Love/Jefferson, Darko, and Pek at the 4/5, do you realistically see a switch to the 3 for Beaz? I don’t think johnson can play the 2 at the nba level, so is Beaz going to be relegated to the Ryan Gomes role for the twolves? Just thought I’d see what people are thinking, so here’s my projected for next season (I believe Jefferson will be traded)

    PG-Flynn
    SG-Webster
    SF-Johnson
    PF-Love
    C-Darko

    Reserves
    pg-Sessions
    sg-Ellington
    sf-L.Hayward
    pf-Beasley
    c-Pek

With Rubio hopefully coming over in a year, I’ve definitely seen worse lineups. I would be willing to say that the Knicks will finish below the twolves in wins next season if they cannot get more depth and a true second option for Ama’re.

15/6 is pretty unimpressive considering his insane usage rate (26%) and his horrible True Shooting Percentage (50%). He doesn’t rebound, he doesn’t play defense, can’t beat PFs off the dribble, can’t back down SFs, what’s his niche in the NBA?

But like someone already said his head don’t be in the game. I really think he needs to want to be the man. He needs to hate his opponents and want to be great. I think he could live up to it if he would just get pissed out there and get competitive. Stop blazing and being easy, and say i am the man give me the ball. No one wanted to play with, the egos of Wade,Lebron, or bosh thats why they all together. Its time for Beasley to show it now or BUST. Its not all on beasley cuz Kobe would have got Beasley to where he should be Wade failed him and dequan cook.

darkrising, thats my point. He doesnt get deep post position or get easy basket by backing down pf’s. He doesnt shoot or dribble well enough to beat sf’s. He doesnt defend either of those positions. And he doesnt run the court paricularly well. He has to dribble around for awhile to beat his man and get numbers. Not sure he is good enough for a team to give him the rock and get out the way. I’ve never seen beasley in an nba game with the rock and think to myself "man he’s gonna give someone the business tonight".

He’s still only 21 remember. I think hes going to wind up like Antwan Jamison, a space the floor four who can shoot 3s at a decent percentage. Not what you want but hes better than that other ex-no. 2 pick on their roster.

Let me put it this way, how much do you think a 21 year old PF who averaged 15 pts would get in free agency this offseason? At $5 million and a second round pick hes well worth it. I finally approve of a Kahn decision

I think the problem Beasley has had his whole NBA career has been adjusting to being second banana. He could break out in Minnesota because there is a chance for him to be the go-to guy. I’m glad he isn’t sticking around in Miami. Too hard to call him a bust yet. I do think he needs to be playing the 3, but this might mean sharing minutes with Johnson until one of them becomes the clear starter. I can’t see Beasley playing the 4 as he doesn’t have good post D skills. However, he has a killer face up game and if he gets the opportunity I think he’ll take it. The dude is just 21. Honestly, I can’t see why he wouldn’t get the minutes over Johnson at the 3 given that Beasley was a number 2 pick with experience and Johnson is an older college player. Although of all the teams he could have gone to the T’Wolves were the second worst in terms of positional needs, the first being Atlanta who seem to be made up of nothing but combo forwards. Players like Rose, Beasley, Durant and Stephenson will be the reason I watch the NBA for the next 5 years or so, because at least they will be around after Wade/LeBron/Bosh have been broken up and the League will be up for grabs.

Michael Beasley had some off-court problems in his first 2 seasons in the NBA.
Given that he was 19 when he entered the NBA and that he got a big money deal from the get-go is something that young people have a hard time to be reasonable with their money.
Now it’s time for him to show everybody that he’s matured and ready to stay in the game.
He has Superstar potential and I could see him start at SF for the Wolves.

I don’t thunk being a scond bannana was the big problem because he wasn’t the go to guy most of his basketball career outside of his jr sr and freshman year in college. This is a great pick up for mommy and they will be able to trade al before the next week is out. By the way wesly isn’t starting over beasley. I think playing with ball dominate Wade was a bad fit for beasley plus unlike the other rookies he wasn’t able to do on the job learning and play through mistakes. On example is d rose who’s defense was bad last year(not so great this year) but they let him play through that. That’s good on the confidence of young players. I think now that the pressure is lessened and he’s given the chance to play through mistakes you will see a better beasley. And his on the court issues were no different then other plywrs which were minumal. It’s the off the court stuff that were bothersome

i agree with darkrising and llperez…but being 21 really isn’t an excuse anymore. derrick rose and kevin durant are both 21 and they were both the number 1 and number 2 pick respectively. now they’re all stars. basketball is a mental game more than anything. beasley has all the skills in the world but he lacks the mental. bruh is a headcase. i just hope he can turn it around. he’s young so there is still hope. if he is let go like someone mentioned i think the suns should take a look at him. now that amare is gone they could use another pf and with grant hill getting up there in age they could play him at the 3 in the future. plus like the suns..he is a scorer not so much of a defender so he would fit right in
