These are the 2 best teams in the league and they both have only 1 pick in this year’s draft.  Who do they take??

    Dallas options:

Draft for the now: There are few options here for the Mavs if they want help now. Kidd, Terry, and Roddy coming back for sure, that is a nice core of PG/SGs there. Also, the rookie Jones could be a factor for them given time.. Marion and Brewer returning to play the 3 with Haywood and most likely Chandler coming back for the C spot.. They really dont have a big need now other than some proven depth. Kyle Singler could help with the SF/PF role for the team or they could swing for a guard like Darius Morris, if he falls, could help the team.

Draft for the future: They could pick a player to leave overseas and develop. A player like Nikola Mirotic or Davis Bertians, if he falls there.  There arent many American players with potiental that late.. Josh Selby would be great if he falls or even Cory Joseph could be taken to develop but 26 is a little early for him.

    Miami options:

Draft for the now: IDK if Maimi needs much help right now.  I mean they have great players with fantastic supporting players but as of next year, they only have 10 players on their roster. They need a C to help their front line but with Miller and Haslem finaly playing well, it is hard to say they need a player.  However, at 31, the Bigs that could be available are Jeremy Tyler, could be nice because of athleticism, JaJuan Johnson, more of a PF but still a big, Jordan Williams, not what they need, Jon Leuer, could be a nice fit if he is willing to work, and Keith Bensen is another athletic big…  The only other spot they need is a PG.. Those guys could be Shelvin Mack, Norris Cole, Nolan Smith, and Reggie Jackson.  Not many of those bigs are really help now guys but the PGs there could be nice.

Draft for the future: All of the bigs there can also fit this list.  Other guards that could be for the future includ Malcom Lee, Cory Joseph, or Iman Shumpert.  Taking a swing on one of these guys and him panning out could be monumental to this team.. Catching a diamond in the rough could make the Heat even more unstopable..

    My Call:

I say Dallas takes Josh Selby with the 26th pick.. Selby playing with JKidd and JetTerry could be the best thing for his growth.. These guys could make him mature and learn to use that skill.. Also, combine him with Roddy in the future and these guys could be lightning.  As long as Mark Cuban is the owner, they will have running mates to help then lead the team.

I say that Miami takes Malcom Lee with the 31st pick.  He has the ability to play some now and could turn into a fantastic running mate with Lebon and Wade.. Sure he isnt a great shooter but Wade and James are becoming, borerline, great shooters.. Lee could become an All-Star and the UCLA players always have a high BBIQ and can usually contribute something untill they become great.  Lee, Wade, and James as your backcourt looks nasty.

Who do you think they take??

Wow, if the Heat got Lee and taught him how to shoot that would be awesome, probably the best perimeter defensive trio in the game. I like Lee and UCLA kids always seem to blossom in the pros, just get Bibby to give Lee his jumpshot.

Being that I think Jeremy Tyler could turn out to be one of the best players in this draft I think he would be a great choice if he is around when Miami picks. Another player who I could see being a good pickup if still there is Shelvin. Mack. Got a good shot and plays hard, could fit in nicely at the PG spot. As for Dallas, I look for them to look at someone like Singler or Harper to give them a little more depth as they are in win now mode.

I’ve been praying that nba teams haven’t noticed the unnatural physical specimen that is jeremy tyler.  Honestly his hops, length, and fluid movement I saw at the combine are enough for me to think this guy can be amazing on the defensive end and then provide a tyson chandler ish offence until (if ever) he develops a real offence.  He reminds me of Chandler a lot.

I agree with Miami getting a big Miami has a ton of free agents this off season, a lot of them are aging bigs.  I think they should draft a big man to help infuse some youth into their bench.  I see Pittman playing with the team next year and not in the D-League, but maybe a power forward forward like Jordan Williams, Trey Tompkins, or JaJuan Johnson could be a good fit.  Maybe even Vuvecic if he’s still on the board.

Yeah, I also think that the Heat might want to go big in this draft.  Not sure they need another power forward with JaJuan Johnson but he is a good player.  If Tyler is there he would be a great pick.  The Heat can AFFORD to take an upside guy.  If he doesn’t work out they still have the best team in the league, and if he DOES work out he can be their starting center on a Heat DYNASTY.

Keith Benson is a nice player.  A legit center and their aren’t too many of those around.  Jon Leuer is a decent prospect with a mixture of size and shooting.

It looks like the Heat can win with pretty much any starting point guard, so if they do upgrade there they might want to go after a veteran.  Maybe someone like Earl Watson.  One, because he is a solid, steady player with experience.  Two, if he goes their and win a title he would be the fifth former Grizzly from the mid-2000 teams to win a title (Posey with 2, J-Will, Pau with 2, and either Mike Miller or Brian Cardinal this year).

If Shelvin Mack is there then he would be a great fit for the Heat, but I am not sure about the other point guards available.  Nolan Smith is nice, but I am not sure he can be a huge difference maker for them.  Same with McCamey.  Isaiah Thomas would be interesting.  Great speed, great athlete, but can he be a starting point guard?  … I really don’t see that group of point guards being THAT much better than guys who might not get drafted like Ben Hansbrough, Kalin Lucas, and maybe even Jacob Pullen.  … so the safe thing for them to do (with some upside too) is to get the best big man or maybe even Chandler Parsons as a replacement for Mike Miller and then put some duct tape on Mike Bibby for another title run or bring in some other veteran point guard (maybe bring back Carlos Arroyo).  I just don’t see much of a difference between Nolan Smith/McCamey and Hansbrough/Pullen.

Actually, Ben Hansbrough might be the best future point guard for that team.  He would be like John Paxon and would form a nice combo with Mario Chalmers.  Then use the draft to stock up on big men with high basements and solid upside (like the old Bulls championship teams used to do).
