MIA vs. NY Game Thread
Game looks heated so far. It's funny how Heat crowds are so dry for the regular season, but live for the playoffs.
This looks like it will be a very entertaining series so far.
From what I've heard many people seem to think NY will pull off the upset. That would significantly enhance Carmelo's legacy while simultaneously destroy LeBron's even more.
Fouls...the story of the game so far. Fouls can really ruin a game, can't it?
The refs are dominating the game.
Miami Heat 16/22 from the charity stripe, the Knicks 5/5. My goodness what a disparity in the early stages of the game. Lebron has attempted 10 on his own.
"The refs are dominating the game."
The difference is that the Heat are smart enough to use this to their advantage.
These refs aren't giving the Knicks ANY favors. 24 free throws to 5 is awful, plus that flop by Lebron was horrible. I agree with everything Jeff Van Gundy has said about this game, they're giving the Heat WAY too much
This is rediculous
LeBron got hurt and flopped lol.
This is getting out of hand. It's like the refs are trying to hand Miami this game. I can't believe they called Chandler for a flagrant foul on a screen.
I really doubt that hurt as bad as he made it out to be. Chandler's a big guy, but Lebron delayed a second after getting hit. The Knicks have no chance if it keeps going like this
This is the biggest joke of a basketball game I've ever seen. What is the difference between the Chandler play on LeBron, and LeBron checking John Lucas? Such a joke of a game because none of these fouls are actually good fouls
On another note, J.R. Smith cannot handle the ball for ish. I don't watch a lot of Knick games, so I don't know if this is normal, but he looks pretty out of control out there.
Holy sh1t Lebron is going bananas
anyone who thinks lebron can still play football after that screen on tyson chandler is out of there mind....or lebron is the black ashton kutchar
Jared Jeffries, get off of my team. You are the biggest offensive liability in the league. You can't catch because you have no hands, you don't elevate and therefore get blocked more than any player I've ever seen, you can't shoot, and you have no clue what you are doing. That is all.
The Knicks already look like they've lost the series. You can't let a few bad calls get in your head like that, especially in the playoffs.
Looks like it's Murphy's Law for the Knicks.
37-13 in the 2nd. And just like that, It's a blowout.
Melo is getting absolutely obliterated by Lebron, going 1-for-9.
Now Tyson's in foul trouble, JR Smith's been cold, Novak is being underutilized, and Jeffries can't handle Lebron.
That's the nature of basketball, I guess. Looking forward to Mavs-Thunder.
the refs are doing their part but the knicks cannot score on the heat. its turnover after turnover followed by crappy shots and more crappy shots. knicks really need some pg play. they have too many scorers without anyone to put them in a position to score
Of hand no doubt. But the Knicks are not great defensively. And the difference between Lebron's screen on Lucas and Chandlers screen on Lebron. Is that Lebron wasn't moving.
yea tyson chandler leaned into lebron to screen but lebron stood still and lucas ran into him. foul but defintely not flagrant
And Lebron with the flop... again. There's a reason Vlade Divac is trending on twitter
Yes, the the Heat took too many freethrows 28-5 advantage. In reality, I think the Heat should have taken about 15-20 freethrows and Lebron about 7-9, but it wasn't the refs' fault entirely. The Knick were making cheap and easy fouls and they need to slow it down and control the pace.
knicks cannot run their offense
or defend the heat lol
That tech just proves how awful the refs are. Melo was obviously throwing the ball to the ref, even though he was clearly pissed. The refs call way too many techs nowadays, after all the stupid people complaining about how the NBA is too rough and all other kinds of crap. It makes some basketball games hard to watch, when the refs are too uptight on things because they're afraid of people complaining about it
The Knicks aren't playing well enough to win but with the way the game has been called, it is unwatchable. It's the playoffs, let these guys play a little.
I don't hate Lebron for anything he has ever done but I don't respect Floppers and he has flopped enough to make Manu Ginobili proud.
They should make a rule that if a team gets blown out by 50+ points in Game 1 of a series they should be eliminated immediately.
I don't think any team could win under these conditions, especially when it gets Lebron going. It's hard enough to win when he's playing like this, but when the refs call it this badly, it's near impossible to stay in the game
If they don't win game one, they will come back stronger in game 2. I still believe this will be a good series. Miami's weakness is they grow complacent and very lazy. Bosh and Wade are incredibly rusty.
Shumpert's knee now, not a good day for knees......
At first glance it doesn't look well for Shumpert.
I've never before turned off a game in disgust. But I hate the way that Miami Heat is playing, I just couldn't take it anymore. I've always thought that basketball was a physical game. Therefore, if a player falls down, there is really no reason to stop playing but rather power on unless something was blatantly aggressive and intentional. Good "Defense" does not mean adeptly stopping in front of a offensive player so that when lightly brushed you fly 20 feet down the court and into the stands. Defense is moving your feet and staying in front of the offensive player, holding your ground, getting in the face of your opponent and contesting every shot. Charges should only be called when a player is blatantly out of control. The amount of people covering their groin and sliding in front of a player who is driving to the rim is starting to be downright pathetic... Just because a player falls down doesn't mean there was a foul. People fall down sometimes. It happens. Rub it in dirt and stop acting like you broke your back every time you happen to lose your balance...
I think it is worth mentioning that I am not a Knicks fan and am not saying only the Heat are guilty of this, but I haven't watched a game before where it was so blatant.
i really thought this series would go at least 5 games but its a sweep unless the knicsk get some good point guard play to at least run their offense properly
That is the most down to earth statement I've heard since being on this site. I agree with you 100%.
You do what ever it takes to win. That is what a championship means.
Knicks are not good so this is going to be quick. Melo does not lead his teams anywhere besides first round exits, check his history. This series is over maybe NY takes 1 game.
