Memphis or OKC... who's better for the future

Oj Mayo, Rudy and Gasol or Durant, Green, and Westbrook.
Which team do you think is better set for the future?
Any others that people should consider?

wat i said earlier

Grizz owner doesnt spend money. They wont afford to resign gay and mayo after there rookie deal. Unless these guys start instantly clicking there going to be maybe a fringe playoff birth in the WEST if there lucky. From what i heard (dont see much on west coast) there offense didnt look so smoothe ranking 29 in scoring, last in assists. Thunder have Durant whos a stud, Westbrook looks solid. (though im not high on combo guards) Were yet to see if thunder can pay a good FA but they wanted Chandler so there's optimism. THUNDER.

Bias

As an OKC fan, I am a little biased. However Durant and Westbrook can improve to be much better than any Memphis player. Their physical gifts are just too great. It seems as though Gay has maxed out and stopped trying to improve. Mayo can be very good however Westbrook's athleticism and penetration gives him a very high ceiling. Same with Durant, his defense and post game and distribution can still improve alot. Yet he is still a top5 scorer in the league already at 20yrs old. Green is a great all around player who can do so many things well. An improved ball handling will make him a very difficult cover at the 4 with his good getting better shooting

Good Point eprizzle14

The Thunder off court is for real. Scott Brooks made some great decisions in his first year. Switching KD to SF, moving Russel to start PG. He is very popular among the players. GM Sam Presti has made good draft decision after good draft decision and is pointing the team in a great direction. Clay Bennett, the Thunder owner has said how committed he is to winning and spending the necessary money to do it. Meanwhile Memphis' owner is legendarily bad and inept. On court/off court, OKC EDGE

OKC

I am somewhat biased myself for Memphis but I have to be realistic OKC is going to be really good if they get 1 or 2 more pieces the will be Trailblazer good.Memphis could be pretty good if they do the same but Durant is next level good and Green is a good player they have Westbrook and don't sleep on Livingston and Thabo. If they get Thabeet and another piece it could be on.If Memphis can have good complete draft they could be setting themselves up win some more games.Grizz have got to spend some money to compete and round out there roster.

Not even close

Its a league of mismatches, and Gay and Mayo are just good scorers, kinda like Ben Gordon and Deng before getting Rose. They aint scarin nobody.

OKC however, has 2 potential headaches to contend w/ in Westbrook being more athletic than every PG not named Rose, and Green quicker than any 4.

And Durant...forget about it. Nobody really mentions it, but he avg. 25ppg 1)at 20 years old and 2)in his 2nd season. Kinda unheard of.

OKC

is ahead right now as for who looks better for the future, but not by as much as some people think. They still need a big to take the pressure off the perimeter guys. Marc Gasol is probably better then any of the current OKC bigs. But the OKC 3 man combo of Westbrook, Green, and Durant gives them the edge.

OKC Has Durant so OKC

They have the best player and Mayo is out when his contract is up for sure. He wants a big market. I think the Grizzlies are doomed no matter what. That franchise won't last in Memphis I just don't see guys wanting to play there. No offense.

Thunder. Gay can never be a

Thunder. Gay can never be a second option. He is like Lamar Odom. He needs to be like the 4th option to be at his best. The Thunder dont seem to have a celing. IF they stay together, get a couple more pieces, they could play for a tittle one day.

are kidding right?

you think gay is only going to be as good as odom, ha what a joke lol. I agree he won't be a franchise player for a championship team, but I think he can be a 2nd option, a great side kick, a near scottie pippen model

btw

to answer the question, i think okc, primarly b/c memphis has the worst ownership, and they won't spend a dime.

OKC

Without a doubt OKC. i think they r better at the moment as well and i dont think they r going to look back. I think that gay and mayo r going to be really good players but i think durant could be one of the best players in the league. As well as like a lot of other people have mentioned b4 memphis has a very cheap ownership and wont beable to attract or keep there talent very well..
so OKC without a doubt!

OKC

Durant. NBA is about the SUPERSTAR. Besides the Pistons of 2002, you need to get lucky in the draft and surround that lucky Superstar with mismatches that don't stop you Superstar from "getting his". Hopefully, the guys surrounding your Superstar aid him in "getting his".

Like Orlando, they are set up to leave the post for Howard and shoot the lights out. If you try and stop the shooters, Howard scores 60. If you try and double Howard, then Lewis, Turk, etc. drain a jumper. It's all about Superstars and match-up problems, and most of the time the Superstar is the biggest match-up problem on the floor. That is what Kobe, Lebron, Carmello, and Howard are anyway.

So, OKC without even batting an eyelash.

Knock Knock

Who's There?

Future MVP of the NBA.

Future MVP of the nba who?

Kevin Durant.

OKC has a nice "Nucleus" going on with a superstar in Durant. This will be his 3rd year so he will have another all star season and is a top 10 in the league already.

Memphis jus has OJ Mayo, a GREAT player but I don't see him as a future top 10 in the league.

@clipperfan559

I'm with you there. It's not even close. You know how I feel about a team's "nucleus". Durant could be on one side, all the other players would be on the other and I would probably still say OKC. Seriously. Of course they would be adding Rubio this year, but still...

OKC has the better future

OKC has the better future because they have 3 good players, one who will be great and the other two won't be too shabby either, but i think it's unfair to compare because you can't count Marc Gasol as that 3rd player, he'd be on the bench on any other team. but Russell westbrook will not be better than OJ, OJ Mayo has a Kobe Bryant work ethic and everyone is just talking like he's the worst athlete in the NBA, he will posterize people just like Brandon Roy does, just because he has a smooth game doesn't mean he's not athletic, and I think Gay has maxed out as a 20- and 5 player but if they get Rubio, I give Memphis the edge with Gay, Mayo, and Rubio vs. Durant, Green and Westbrook.

OKC hands down

FIrst of all, the comment about Rudy Gay being a near Scottie Pippen.... think again. I see a lot more of scottie in Jeff Green than I do in Rudy. Jeff is a much better playmaker than Gay....

I think that for Memphis to be better than OKC, Gay will have to become a defensive STOPPER. He is so athletic and has such long arms- he needs to put the work and effort in to lock down on anyone.

I think the same can be said about Green. His role on that team has to be playmaker, defender, rebounder... KD can score and Russell can help with the playmaking, but green is a fantastic passer and the offense should run through green on most possessions. I think those three are probably the best young 1-2-3 in basketball... KD is going to be THE elite scorer in the league next year and I think that Jeff Green and Russell complement him very well- neither needs to be the guy and both play solid defense. throw Thabo in the mix and you've got another lockdown defender and now all they need is a perimeter scorer and a defensive big. I'd like to see them snag Harden....

yea...

Gay can be a defensive stud, just like Pippen was, Green is pretty good to, I was just saying Gay could be a really good sidekick, which Pippen was, but I don't think Green will the 2nd guy on the team, he's more like the 3rd, I think Gay is the better scorer, but your right that Green is a great passer as well

Gay will NEVER be on Pippens

Gay will NEVER be on Pippens level on defensive, I think Gay is more of an offensive player. He needs to work on his game (passing, passing, and rebounding) he seems more of a 3rd option on a championship level team....

Rank the players; 1. Durant

Rank the players;

1. Durant - OKC
2. Mayo - Mem
3. Gay - Mem
4. Rubio - ?
5. Westbrook - OKC
6. Green - OKC
7. Gasol - Mem
8. Conley - Mem
9. Krstic - OKC

I give it to OKC right now because they have a better bench with Collison, Sefolosha, Mason, Wilkins, Livingston, Swift.
Rubio could give it to OKC definitively or even it up for Memphis.

OKC

As of now, OKC has the edge and it's all down to 1 Kevin Durant. But with this year's draft, things could change very quickly, esp if Memphis gets Rubio who I believe will get the best out of Mayo and Gay. With all due respect to Westbrook, he's not a pure point like Rubio is. And if OKC do get Thabeet and he turns out to be the inside force that he was at UConn. OKC just perhaps needs a couple seasoned campaigner to glue all the kids together and they could be a force to watch out for in couple of ears especially at the rate that Durant is growing.
