Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantIf I were the Nuggets, I would trade him at deadline. He’s probably just saying that so the Knicks can pull the trigger already. If the Nuggets keep him and he decides not to sign, they’ll just look stupid.

mikeyvthedonParticipantMelo wants the Knicks to up the ante and trade for him already. To all those who say the Knicks are being hesitant for good reason and that they want the best roster possible, than be prepared to not get the roster you really are going after. If the Knicks want Chris Paul, they need to make some sacricifices this year and the next to obtain him. Right now, I think the Knicks are trying to hold on to assets that will keep any of this from happening. The major thing is, that more than likely with the restructured CBA, and even under the current CBA, the Knicks can not sign Melo for the amount of money he wants without doing a sign and trade. If Melo is telling the truth, than I am a jack@ss, but my ultimate guess is, he is still Knicks or bust. The Knicks need to be willing to give up an actual asset worth giving up, or Melo needs to face the fact that Denver fans will hate his guts more than LeBron James for getting them screwed in a sign and trade. The Knicks also need to face the fact that in order to obtain their "Big 3", they will need to make sacrifices to their roster. Unless they get incredibly lucky in the draft, they will have to give up major pieces of their current team in order to have a chance at CP3, and right now it appears as though they will more than likely not be willing to make that sacrifice.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantI think he says that because he has to be upet that the Knicks refuse to part with Landry Bleeping Fields and Mr. 42 percent shooting specialist to get the deal done.
Never should a team confuse the value of a role player with that of a star. A team cannot give up enough role players if it means they get a 26-year old Melo for the next five years.

HitsterParticipantMelo does seem the sort of player who would worry about how much money he earns, there have been a few rumours before and maybe he sees that $65 million over 3 years slipping away. But if he did resign with Denver then he’d put them in a much stronger bargaining position. Maybe Denver or his agent is reminding him that the money could slip away, imagine the Agent’s cut woulds be decent.
Whilst Donnie Walsh in NY keep hearing that Melo wants to come to the Knicks and play at MSG will naturally want to get the player for as little as possible. Bosh and LeBron were both worth two picks each for a 6 year deal, so I’d guess that Donnie Walsh probably sees the 3 year deal maybe being signed after the draft as being worth say one future pick.
If Melo was serious about staying in Denver, he’d have made noises before so they could look to rebuild around him, K-Mart has a big expiring deal which their GM could have used perhaps. But until Melo committed to Denver then there would be no way that they would look to strengthen the team around him if he could walk n the summer as they can almost create immediate cap space then.

NYK2010ParticipantOnly an idiot would give up Gallo and Fields now for no reason.
Nuggets should just take the deal already there GM has exhausted a trade with almost every team.
