    Just wanna say for those who felt he played horrible….well he did but the refs really took him out his game he played hard tonight and physical but got a lot of BS fouls called on him and was gettin held and bodied but he doesnt get Elite Player calls….its a shame that he lost 10minutes of PT as the game would have been a completely different story

     That is funny that you think the Refs where a problem. Actually some people are saying the reason the Knicks were up so big in the first half is that Melo had to sit. That allowed the rest of the Knicks, including Amare to get going. It was in the second half when Melo got his normal run that the Knicks stopped scoring.

    @TallmanNYC

    I couldn’t agree more.  The end of game sequence when Melo was called for an off. foul (attempting another freaking iso), and then had the presence of mind to chuck that three for no good reason.

    After watching N.O. take on LA in game one it really makes me believe that Paul is what the Knicks need.  Paul is just a different cat.  As far as game management he’s 1B to Nash’s 1A.  I expect Paul to be traded by next deadline (unless there’s a franchise tag in the next CBA), but what will the Knicks have as far as assets go to trade for Paul?

    If it comes to trading Melo for Paul… do the Knicks pull the trigger?  I hope so.

    The Knicks should use their cap money on a center this offseason.  The only way they get cap money is by declining Billups option… maybe resign him for less if its manageable.  In 2012 there won’t be many Centers on the market but this summer there should be quite a few FA’s and RFA centers.  If your the Knicks you HAVE to get one if your serious about going anywhere in the playoffs.  Ideally one that could hit free throws and defend the paint…allow Amare to play the 4.

    After that, if Paul becomes available, trade Melo for him if thats what it takes to get a deal done.

    Paul can carry a team on his back.  Melo has proven he can’t do it alone and he can’t do it with star players playing along side him either. Melo has had many chances at playing with all levels of talent throughout his career and has never got it done.  He’s quite similar to A.I. in that regard.  Melo needs 4 defensive Aces and himself on the floor to win… an even then, relying on his decision making on the offensive end is tough.

    By trading for melo they traded away team basketball. Everything falls on the shoulders of Melo’s performance.

     Yep. Even if the Knicks are playing well, Melo will take enough shots that the game will be decided by his performance. You saw him lose Game 1 by shooting 1 for 11 in the second half. We are going to see him win a game as well by having a good shooting night. But that isn’t enough from what is supposed to be a star player.

    As far as trades, I’m sure the Knicks would trade Melo for any of the top PGs in the game, including Paul even with the knee problem history. I’m also pretty sure that unless Melo steps up and wins this series for the Knicks, then no one will offer anything but stiffs for him ever again. The performance of the Knicks and Denver since the trade has exposed him. It is confirming the criticism that he is just a good scorer who puts up big numbers based on volume and not elite skills.

    If Melo tanks during the playoffs, then forget trading him for CP3, start thinking about trading him for Joe Johnson.

    Melo had a bad game, but Melo has a killer instinct. Yes that 3 pointer at the end was a bad shot. Though, I’d of rather him taken the shot a couple feet in, but still of taken a 3. Had that game gone to overtime I believe the Celtics would have had all the momentum, and the Knicks w/o Billups would have struggled to stop Rondo. Melo did the right thing taking the 3, but should have step himself up better for it. I’m tired of hearing Melo lost the game, what lost the game was the Knicks got killed on the boards and the Celtics got a lot of the 50/50 balls. Had the Knicks prevented the Celtics 2-3 times on 2nd chances it’s a 4 or 5 point win for the Knicks, enough said.
