Is Meeks making the right decision? How good will he be?

Some people say this is the highest his stock is going to get and he would hurt himself by coming back.Where do you expect him to get drafted? How good will he be?

Most likely he goes in the

Most likely he goes in the early second round. I could possibly see a team taking him very late in the 1st round. A shooter like Meeks is hard to find. Plus he has a quick release so he should be able to get his shot off pretty easy even though he is a bit undersized for a SG. I think he will be a solid pro. He is quick, can defend, has a nonstop motor, and can obviously score.

He wont get drafted all that

He wont get drafted all that high most likely, but his weaknesses are things that he could improve in the NBA..I think his status would be the same this time next year if he returned

new coach

new players I think meeks would have lost valuable playing time returning. Although he should have went back to UK and practiced D showed the scouts he has improved his overall defence, everyone knows he can score, I think his stock would rise next year if he shows he can makes stops on the D side.

Comparison

He could possibly find a way into the 1st round if a team wants to take a gamble, but he more than likely will end up in the early 2nd round. Im not really great at comparisons but you could almost see him as having a little "Eddie House" future in the league. If his 3pt shot doesnt fade.

Double figure scorer off the bench

Double digit scorer off the bench. Will have games coming off of screens when they can't stop him from hitting the J all night. Not a starter but Vinnie Johnson style "microwave" off the pine.

Agree

I agree that he is somewhat underated because he didnt play for a "winning" team. This site only has him as the 56th overall pick...I know he's better than that. Especially when he was early 2nd round pick in next years supposed deeper draft. How can his draft postion get worse in a weaker draft compared to a better postion in a stronger draft?

I usually don't think

I usually don't think underclassmen projected to go in the 2nd round should enter, but in Meeks case I think he is making the right decision. I don't think him coming back will increase his stock much. A team will sign him, because there is always a need for good pure shooters. I can see him being an Anthony Morrow type player who can provide a lot of scoring off the bench.

For whatever reason, there are certain college players the NBA doesn't like no matter what they do. They didn't like Carlos Boozer or Michael Redd because they were tweeners. They were taken in the 2nd round, I think they turned out OK. NBA scouts don't like Meeks because he's a little undersized and lacks explosive athleticism. How tall is Ben Gordon? Does Delonte West have explosive athleticism?

Maybe a promise...

I can almost see him as a guy that might have gotten a promise. I mean, he makes sense for an OKC or the Cavs. Basically he is currently being called the exact opposite type of player he was coming out of HS. In hs, he was a great athletic slasher who didn't have a jump shot, but a guy who could get to the rim with ease. He was that type as a frosh and he was hurt all of his Sophomore year. Just saying, would you really love to play with Delonte West at sg or Meeks? Meeks has him by an inch and 30 lbs. and they basically do the same thing. Yes, Jodie didn't have many assists at UK, but can you blame him? After that 54 point outburst, everyone (including Patterson) looked to Jodie for help on offense. In the NBA, he will not be the main defensive focus on how to beat a team night in and night out. I like the "Microwave" comparison, but I think he could be more of a Joe Dumars type.
