So as I sit here watching the LA/Denver game I'm surprised to see Javale getting a lot of playing time and NOT making the bad decisions that he seemed to make all the time in Washington. He is blocking shots and rebounding and showed a hookshot(who knew). This leads me to wonder whether Washington is just that laughable of a team or George Carl is just that good of a coach?
On another note some crazy lady just ran onto the floor....
It's George Karl
its both. washington had no good veteran leadership and their games didn't matter. but yes karl is a great coach. aand yeah that was bizare when that lady ran on to the floor
Here's two good ones:
But he's getting better.
He never sucked man even in Washington, he's athletic as ish, just doesn't have a High IQ, could be really good now, since he has a good coach.
Only god knows how Many negs i got for defending mcgee thru all of his "dumb plays" when i kept saying he needs a better coach and veterans while everyone making mcgee's IQ jokes. He's one of my favorite players and my top dunker.
If he didn't have moments, his whole act wouldn't be so funny.
that lady who ran onto the floor looked drunk...Too many 9 dollar beers at the arena.
I loved that sweeping hook, and he got great elevation on it as well, Denver as an organization will bring him along nicely, when Masai Uruji, the Denver GM, met him at the airport when he got traded, he approached him and told him that age 18-23 is over and age 24-29 has started.
The lady that ran onto the court apparently has been caught stalking Nuggets players before. lol
Gotta give credits to George Karl. His previous coaches are horrible at developing talent. I never liked Flip Sanders, he got lucky to have good and mature players before. He can't handle young players and can't develop them. I don't know enough about Randy Wittman to comment.
George Karl is a top 5 coach now that Phil Jackson and Jerry Sloan are "retired" and he's great with young, immature players. If he could turn JR Smith into a serviceable backup. Having a team with Melo, Iverson and JR Smith while still had a solid team, he's really good at working with troublemakers.
Mcgee is long and athletic and all but....he has the basketball IQ of a airpump!
I can see where Javale got is height from.. wow
Javale could be a very good starting center in the league for years. With Karl as his coach the sky is absolutely the limit. When healthy and with training camp, this Nugget team isn't far from scary with a year or 2 together and some more player development.
The people that were saying he sucked were always wrong. I still think the next contract he gets will be overpaid thhough and I still question how successful a team can be with him starting at C.
He's had good game in washington before he just dont handle success well. Denver will over pay him And regret it for years.
This statement is completely false. Flip helped develop KG and Stephon Marbury. Also, Chauncey Billups had his break out season in Minnesota after being traded around the league. Troy Hudson developed under Flip Saunders as well. The issue in Washington is more than coaching. Flip can coach and can develop. It didn't work out in Washington but it hasn't worked out for many coaches in Washington for a long time. Also, let's call it what it is. Javell McGee is around better players and more mature players in Denver also. Hard to develop when your teammates are Andre Blatche, Nick Young, and Jordan "I will be better than MJ" Crawford. Not a good environment over there for anyone to develop and grow.
McGee is a restricted free agent this summer..Meaning the Nuggets can match any offer for him....But It's going to be interesting to see what the Nuggets will do to meet his Demands......Becuz last season he told Washington that he Wanted a Max Deal at 14 Million Dollars a year when he becomes a free agent.....A reporter asked him that he had heard that McGee had told friends that he wanted a max deal..McGee told the reporter yeah, he said it and that he was dead Serious..He felt that he should get Paid for what he's Worth.......
He's restricted and won't get near max. He'll make quite a bit less than Nene, which means he'll be about properly paid for now with the potential for that to become UNDERPAID fast given how good a coach Karl is with headcases.
Denver can't let this guy get away. Only Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum, and Marc Gasol are clearly better as centers. Tyson Chandler is very good and effective but he is getting old. McGhee has a great combination of size, skill, athleticism, and potential.
I have been a Nuggets fan off and on and a Faried-McGhee combo up front has some great potential over the next decade. They already have Gallo and Afflalo at the wings with Ty Lawson at point guard. That's a very good future core. They can build a very good team around those guys. Other than OKC, the other Western contenders are slightly flawed (Clips with Paul, Blake, and mostly role players/3 point shooters, Griz lack a true superstar) and old (Spurs, Lakers, and Mavs). This Nuggets team is as good as anyone out West.
I think the Nuggets need a 6th man scorer like OJ Mayo or possibly somewhat cheaper, or a guy like Reggie Evans who is a beast rebounder and enforcer. They have Al Harrington, Andre Miller, and Birdman as the veteran role players so they don't really need too much more. Probably just a guy who can get his own shot on the perimeter and another big man off the bench (maybe one who can score some).
Javale has a lot of upside and is a great fit for this Nuggets team. I can only imagine though if he had Anthony Davis' basketball IQ and intangibles. He would be a SUPERSTAR.
"Denver can't let this guy get away. Only Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum, and Marc Gasol are clearly better as centers. Tyson Chandler is very good and effective but he is getting old. McGhee has a great combination of size, skill, athleticism, and potential."
No. No. No. Sorry, but the bum-loving Wizards replaced him with Kevin Seraphin and got the same middling production, mediocre defense, overrated skill set, and none of the headache. Even when McGee is not off on Mars, he isn't a top ten center. He is a remarkable athlete for his size, but a mediocre center. Congrats, he is Denver's version of Jordan Hill.
^^How is Seraphin's skill set overrated? He's more skilled than most players his age. Mainly with his feathery soft hook shot.
Everything he gets is at the rim, and the vast majority (60 plus percent) is coming off assists. I do not consider that to be special.
In a way,McGee reminds me of Chandler years ago..A player whose athletic skills are far superior than his basketball skllis.....McGee should find 1 thing and ""focus'' on it..Maybe looking to be just a rebounder or defender....And try to get his points from tip-ins and put backs...
McGee is the same player just less playing time so less chances to do dumb stuff
McGee is a beast to play with in 2K12 though. Standing dunks, blocks (grabbing that ish out of the air) and closing down that paint while sitting in the back of that 1-3-1... Plus he's fast enough to contest shooters in the corner.
^ i never played 2k12 but in 2k11 ALL the top crews used the wizards for mcgee's defense
