Mayo Qualifying Offer declined by the Grizz
Cavs should have drafted Barnes and signed OJ. Oh well...
Come on Pax... I know you never makes moves in the draft... so sack up, drop Boozer, resign Asik, and get OJ! I still think he would be great for the Bulls because they are shot attempts to be had for this team. Rose can't and shouldn't be shooting as much as he is. Rose needs to be a scoring pg not a scorer like Kobe or Durant. OJ can come in and start for them from day one. I would rather see Rose average 18 pts and 10 ast then 25 pts and 6 ast.
How much money do you think Mayo is going to want? He seems to have an ego that is much larger than his actual ability (and I have been one of his biggest supporters since his days at SC).
Celtics target Mayo

O.J. Mayo | Grizzlies
The Boston Celtics need to get a shooting guard who can put points on the board and one of their targets might be O.J. Mayo, according to A. Sherrod Blakely of CSN New England.
Mayo is a restricted free agent and Blakely throws out one scenario where Mayo and Brandon Bass, an unrestricted free agent, would agree to sign-and-trade deals. At this time nothing is imminent.
The Celtics tried to acquire Mayo back in March, but couldn't come to an agreement with Memphis.
The Celtics need help at shooting guard as they could lose Ray Allen and Mickael Pietrus in free agency.

Memphis only has about $7.5 million to spend on 4 or 5 players to fill out the roster. We weren't going to spend it on OJ.
I think OJ projects best as a do-everything 3rd guard who can mostly create his own offense, or as a spot shooter. He's kind of streaky and not a pure point guard but he brings a lot to the table in the right situation and he has been competing more on defense. Basically a poor man's James Harden.
He would be a good fit for the Bulls or with the Celtics if they decide not to keep Ray Allen. He would be a great sixth man for Miami if he was willing to take a paycut and if Mike Miller retires. Other than Steve Nash and Ray Allen, OJ Mayo would be one of the better fits in Miami, if the price is right.
I can also see the Thunder taking a run at him if they trade James Harden. Harden has some good value, maybe not as much as he did before the Finals, so if they trade him they could use OJ Mayo as a cheaper replacement.
He would offer more value on a contender, but he could put up some good stats on a bad team. Although I don't think he is the kind of guy who can turn a bad team into a playoff team.
Finally, another good fit for OJ Mayo would be the T Wolves. Even though the got Chase Budinger they could start him at 2 and then bring OJ Mayo off the bench as a backup scorer/shooter and a secondary ball handler. He also would give them needed playoff experience. If you think about the T Wolves don't really have a proven scorer than can handle the ball and manufacture his own shot. Rubio can get anywhere he wants to on the court but he is really not a scorer or a great shooter yet. Love can score from anywhere, but he is not a LeBron James type forward who can handle, pull up and shoot, or put his head down and get to the basket. Budinger is more like a catch and shoot guy or a finisher and Derrick Williams isn't there yet either. JJ Barea can do create his own offense, but that is about it. OJ Mayo would help here.
Memphis has 7 million dollars this summer to spend on free agents..Which isnt much if you're trying to get a quality player...Plus they want to resign Speights.
There are some quality shooters like Steve Novak they can get..And some undrafted guys like Dee Bost and William Buford...
Someone suggested a sign & trade with Phoenix for Steve Nash..Nash on the Grizzlies will be NASHTY!!!! But to make that happen Nash must be willing to take a paycut....
OJ will not go anywhere for a discount nor should he, he is only 24 & proved he could be a high level player already. This will be his only time to get a major contract. I dont believe he is a career 6th man, he is best suited as a starter so I think he will look for a situation that offers that. He is still young so the dollars at this point out weigh a chance to win a championship & I can argue with that approach
Blazers are among those teams IMO , they won't say it to keep on the low but they will go at him big IMO him + lillard is gonna be great for years to come, not to mention Barton on a cheap contract. the blazers have a little over 18 mill in cap space July 1.
Bradley is a better fit and will be a better player too. Bad for chemistry. Suspect him and Rondo not getting along. Doc wont tolerate BS from him either. He can come off the bench at best. Don't like his game. Bad fit.

I wonder who will be in the running to sign him. I think he may go to a team like Phx
