I May Be WrongParticipantThis according to the Commercial Appeal twitter. It also says Grizz are trying to sign McRoberts as an UFA but he may want more money and may head to the Lakers (but thats just a rumor)
Kinda sucks, I was liking the idea of Mayo on the Pacers. I thought he would fit in nicely with this young team. Any thoughts on this?

PrecociousNeophyteParticipantdidn’t this same thing happen during the trading deadline? I mean, I think the Grizzlies were trying to get rid of Mayo before the trading deadline and they had a deal done, but they submitted the trade to the league just after the deadline passed. I guess the Grizzles really don’t want Mayo.

paint intruderParticipantI would be pissed by now if I was Mayo.

I May Be WrongParticipantyeah, this Mayo situation has potential drama written all over it. It sounds like they don’t want Mayo but if they just let him walk after his contract is done for nothing, then the Grizz made a huge mistake. My bet is they will keep him until the trade deadline and then ship him for something

ProudGrandpaParticipantMayo would be right at home in the Xavier locker room because he is a gangsta. And the last thing the pacers need is another gangsta. Plus, the backcourt would be much too crowded.

PrecociousNeophyteParticipantI might be wrong, but I think Mayo’s father is in prision for trying to kill a police officer.

Wavy BagelsParticipantAt first, I had thought it would be a good idea for Mayo to stay in Memphis. But it’s obviously clear they have no intentions on keeping him. I wanted him to come back this season and play through the adversity he had to go through all of last season and embrace the 6th man role and prove all the doubters wrong, but yea he needs a change of scenary. Also, I’m not quite fond of how the Grizz organization have treated this situation. If you’re gonna trade him, DO IT. Stop sending mixed messages to a young player like that. I understand the league is more than a game; it’s a business, and players are just going to to have to go through thing like this time to time, but there’s a way to do everything, and I believe that wasn’t the best approach.

RUDEBOY_Participant1 thing about Memphis owner Micheal Heisley is that when he says something he keeps his word..He said he wanted to keep his 5 core guys 2gether…Asked by a reporter who those 5 guys were? He said Gasol,Rudy,Randolph,Mayo and Conley…People didnt believe him when he said he was bringing Rudy and ZBo back..He did it…They thought Marc Gasol had gotten away, Heisley brought him back..He overpaid Conley, but he brought him back..
Yesterday during practice, the Mayo to Pacers deal was reportly to be done deal..But Mayo was still on the court practicing with the team, despite media reports that he had been traded..Heisley was at the practice facilty and said that deal was just rumors.Mayo will be with he team..
I think they want to see what type of player Xavier Henry will be by the deadline and then seek a trade for Mayo….Even Heisley know they cant afford to pay all 5 guys…

ProudGrandpaParticipantLakers signed McRoberts. Trust me.

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantDeal him back to MN for one of their 5000 pg’s or SF/PF’s! Maybe Mayo for Beasley straight up? OR Mayo for Ridnour? They could use a veteran presence at PG to mentor Conley. Just an idea

QuickPostCParticipantMcRoberts to Lakers………replacing Odom as 1st big off the bench.
I’m not a Lakers fan but thats gotta hurt for Kobe…..looking over and seeing McRoberts instead of Odom…..high price to pay to chase Howard/Paul in the future.
I am however a Duke fan so its great to see McRoberts have a higher-profile oppurtunity.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI know it sounds crazy to trade a guy of Odom’s caliber to the team that swept you in the playoffs and the defending champs..But under the new rules, in 2 years they couldnt afford to keep both Bynum and Odom….They have either Bynum or Gasol to add with a 2 first round picks to offer in a future trade..

phila9012Participantmayo for beasley seems fair other than memphis doesnt really need beasley, but he could provide them with scoring off the bench nice idea FireKahn

Lotto StudParticipantAre there any Mayo interviews swirling about the Deal No Deal saga?
He should be heavily swarmed by the media on this, especially since it has now happened twice with the same offer.
If there are any video links to interviews can someone post please?

IndianaBasketballParticipant"He should be heavily swarmed by the media on this…"
You are just heavily convinced Mayo is a superstar, aren’t you lol?
You acting like he’s Chris Paul or Dwight Howard lmao.

Lotto StudParticipantDude it’s not about him being a superstar! Find 1 post & re-quote me to where you seen where I wrote it!
I just would like to hear his take or know what he has to say about this since it has happened twice.

aamir543ParticipantOh my, this is not going to end well. And If I were Mayo I would be pissed as hell. They basically traded him for a backup fringe rotation guy, a guy that Mayo probably thinks that he is much better than, and this happened not once, but twice! If I’m a team, I’m calling the Grizz every day, and giving them the worst offer I can think of, cause There is no denying his talent, and he just isn’t a fit in Memphis.
