This sucks. Does anyone think he will have a chance to come back this season or intime for the  playoffs?

He is undergoing surgery next week.

Lakers now have a need at the backup SF postion.

artest will be back to getting 35 minutes. They can also use kobe at sf with shannon brown at sg which brown deserves more minutes anyways.

Luke Walton’s chance to show he’s a Player? Haha.
I really do believe in him; I think it was in 06 or something where he was averaging 17 ppg before getting injured and dropping to 14. He was shooting a good percentage too, I’m not too sure though.

walton had one solid year as a starter where heaveraged like 12 and did a lot of little things BUt you never want him starting. BUt he can still contribute in 10-15 minutes. Hes very smart and unslefsih and doesnt comit turnovers.

Give Devin Ebanks some minutes, I have more faith in him than Luke Walton

ill take walton over ebanks. Ebanks has serious potential, but right now he is the worst player on the team. He cant shoot consistently at all.

True, but I’d like to see him get some minutes to develop and show his skills. Walton is a better shooter, but Ebanks is a better defensive presence on the wing, something they lose with Matt Barnes.

Devin Ebanks is nowhere near ready to play for the Lakers. Luke Walton is horrible and everything, but Devin Ebanks isn’t ready to contribute.

He’ll return, but it all depends on how severe the tear is and how he heals. Hopefully, it’s a minor tear and they’re just able to stitch it up. IF they have to just remove the piece completely, then he could miss more time and take a little more time to recover.

Real big loss for the Lakers, he really gave the Lakers a lot off the bench, can shoot well when left open, can defend the other team’s best perimeter player, can rebound well, brings energy and does all those little things a lot of players aren’t willing to do. He also played a lot in late game situations for the Lakers due to Artest’s inconsistent play so far this season.

It will be interesting to see how Phil handles this. He and Larry Brown have been the two most notorious anti-rookie coaches. Most coaches don’t like playing rookies, but those two really have no use for them until they have sat around for a year at least. He might have no choice but to give Ebanks some run because he is a better option than Walton and his broken back. From the little time he gotten when they went out on the road earlier in the yea, he showed himself to be decent. It is hard on rookies to operate with erratic minutes because they got to the NBA by being stars at every level prior, but this gives him the chance to have some certainty.
