I read a scout said he has no right hand what so ever.

Then I just read that another scout said he’s fast(Obvious), BUT not quick with the dribble.

    Are these things true?

I mean I’ve watched him and I thought he was pretty quick, not as quick as his brother, or the Rose’s or Westbrook’s of the league, but I did think he had some quickness.

But I did notice he hardly ever goes right, that’s weird seeing he is right handed…..

    Thought’s?

    Observation’s?

Shouldve stayed another year. Clear defeciencies in his game with limited poise and a rusty j

It’s weird, but I know a lot of right handed players that are more comfortable driving, pulling up, etc going to the left.

Marquis has this really bad. He’s not comfortable driving and stepping into his shot going to his right at all. It’s nothing he can’t work on though.

He’s faster than he’s quick, but I don’t see him having a problem getting into the lane in the NBA.

The scout said he doesn’t see him being able to get into the lane like that at the NBA level, because he has an average handle, and isn’t quick, and he doesn’t know how to create.

     In what world?

Jeff is quicker than Marquis by a mile, ask IndianaBasketball.

I do agree.  I think Teague is probably faster and quicker than Lillard, but Lillard has much more wiggle with the ball in his hands.  Teague is more of a straight line driver; he is best in transition when he can go straight at the rim.

This is something that is improvable, though.  As a rookie, Teague will likely be a much better transition pg than pick-and-roll pg, but ballhandling is something that is very improvable, even if Teague never does develop an elite crossover or anything of that nature.

I do not agree, IMO Marquis is the quickest in the draft especially going to his left.  His handle is decent, he is really tough to cover when he attacks in straight lines, the only problem is when he gets cut off he doesnt have any good secondary moves or a consistent pull-up jumper or a float game.

I’m not super high on him but I do think he will be a solid pro.  I’m not comparing him to these guys but I feel he will have a similar story as Ty Lawson, Jrue Holiday and his brother Jeff Teague.  (Point guard selected in the middle of the draft, sits on the bench for a year or two and is given the keys to be the starter after that)  Marquis is raw and may need some time to develop.

Also saying he should have stayed an extra year at Kentucky might not have been the best thing for him.  He would have had to split time with their redshirt PG Ryan Harrow who Calipari is really high on.

I agree as well he is the quickest in the draft, but I wonder why the scout felt that way, I thought Marquis was pretty quick.

I know.  I probably should have added a better segue into comparing Teague and Lillard.  Excuse me for the poorly thought out post.  I was just trying to make the point that Teague is hindered sometimes by a lack of ball handling ability.  I probably shouldn’t have just brought up Lillard.

I mean i’m no scout by any means, but in my most honest opinion…..

I thought Marquis Teague handled the ball pretty well this year, his turnovers came from inexperience and a low IQ(at times), he rarely lost his handle on the ball or got stripped.

He may not get stripped much, but he doesn’t have a good crossover and isn’t reliant on his ballhandling to beat people.  I also don’t think he sets up his screens too effectively.  He just lacks the advanced ball handling moves most pgs possess.

True that, but I also don’t think we got to see all of what he could do at Kentucky either, next few years will tell it all tho.
