Mario Chalmers says he's a TOP 10 Point Guard
Too bad for Miami that Mario Chalmers doesn't usually play as well as he thinks he does
He could be top 10 defensively. He is a solid shooter but really not much of a distributor and is considered the starting PG but rarely runs the offense. He is most likely not even top 20 in reality.
He's like a young Derek Fisher, his style of play is a perfect compliment to Wade and Lebron's slashing and attacking the basket...But unlike Fisher,Chalmers often makes boneheaded plays on the court..That have Wade & Lebron yelling at him.....I doubt he'll be a starter on any other team....Becuz he's not a playmaker...
What i like about Chalmers is that he's not afraid to take the big shots... But he's not even a top 15 point guard in the nba....
Mario Chalmers is a fool.
These guys are better than him EASILY in no order:
CP3
Rose
Rondo
Westbrook
Nash
D.Will
Parker
Lawson
Jennings
Wall
Irving
Holiday
Curry
Teague
Lowry
Felton
That's just the names off the top of my head.
Dragic
Rubio
Conley
Lin
Billups
Lou Williams
Stuckey
Jarret Jack
Harris
Calderon
Isiah Thomas
Hill
Sessions
Nelson
Miller
Collison
Augustine
Barea
Beaubois
Bayless
Ridnour
CJ Watson
Vazquez
Farmar
Kemba Walker
Aaron Brooks
Jason Kidd
Chalmers made a big shot in an NCAA Final and that has carried him this far....by the end of the season he loses the starting job and is probablly out of Miami at the end of the season with a new crop of "ring chasers" coming in.
According to that list he's a below average starting point guard. Agreed.
chalmers is a perfect fit at the point for the heat tho.
He beat derek rose in the National championship and all he has to do is knock down open shots
Is he a top 10 point gaurd...Probably not. But is he a huge part on another championship team/dynasty, yes.
I dont see the heat being THAT much better with rondo rose or westbrooke
The national championship was a 1 on 1 game and Chalmers beat Rose to win Kansas a title?
Or did a team with Darrel Arthur, Brandon Rush, Sherron Collins, Sasha Kaun, Darnell Jackson, Cole Aldrich, Tyrel Reed, and Brady Morningstar play a team sport and reach the highest attainable level together?
He is a huge part of Heat championship/dynasty team? Same way BJ Armstrong was a HUGE part of thsee Bulls championships when he carried Jordan to 3 straight? No explanation needed.
Give the Heat Rondo, Rose, or Westbrook and there is a real chance they go 82-0.
C'mon man lol are you serious right now? There is no probably about it, Chalmers is nowhere NEAR a top PG in the NBA he does nothing GREAT, he is a solid defender, and can get hot every now and then but there's nothing GREAT Chalmers brings to the table.
The Heat would no doubt be better with a Rondo or Rose because they are willing passers and OUTSTANDING athletes, Westbrook he is my fav PG but he is a shoot first so IDK how that would work with LBJ and Wade, but they would be a better team with Westbrook as well.
Rio must've been high when he made this quote lol.
I won't hold this against him though. He cracks me up how he tries to be a "tough" guy sometimes and pick fights with bigger players, but I met him this past summer at the Pro Am games at IUPUI and he's a coo dude.
To be honest, it doesn't matter where he's ranked. He's winning titles and playing a role. He's made some big shots. Played some good D. I thought Miami trusted him more running the offense last season while LeBron played a little more off of the ball. So he's got a role on a championship team, making millions and living in South Beach. It gets no better!
I would put him near the bottom end of that list of starters. On top of that there are some bench players that may also be better. Name a team that has player starting point that isnt better.
He can say what he wants,he's won it all and he had good performance in the Finals...He clearly isn't top 10 but Miami doesnt need CP3 or Rondo,Chalmers is perfect for them something like Kenny Smith with those Rockets teams...He knows his role
Kenny Smith averaged 17 and 7 while shooting 52% his first year in Houston ...He was also an underrated part of their championship teams. Chalmers will never be that good even though he is a good fit with the Heat but any player who can defend and knock down shots would be.
Actually, while his claim is pretty off, I kind of like Chalmers for some reason. He does make some big shots, but he also has dumb turnovers which everyone notices. I think he's a solid guard, nothing special but nothing horrible.
It's a difference between confident and just plain stupid and Chalmers crossed the line into being stupid, he knows damn well he aint no top 10 PG in the NBA and def aint in the front line of it.
Maybe he was talking about of all time in Alaska(His hometown) but not the NBA lol.
His career averages are 8.3 PPG, 3.6 APG, 2.3 RPG lol
His best season averages are 10.0 PPG, 4.9 APG, 2.8 RPG lol
Why are we even entertaining Mario?
CP3
Rose
Rondo
Nash
D.Will
Westbrook
Parker
Above are some of the best Point Guards the game has seen... So for Mario to think he still fits in the Top 10 is definitely an overstatement.... I like his game but he is no All-star even if he was on a crappy team....
I guess he is using the logic that if a Great player is on a losing team then he is only Good, So if an average player is on a championship team he must be Great.... I dont see it that way
He's a solid starter in the leauge. He's not as bad as people think he is, playing with 2 of the top 5 players in the league ( who both distribute the ball) only gives you so much room to shine. He handles the ball, shoots open 3's and sets up a few plays. He averaged 11/4/4 in the playoffs last year.
Put him on the Bobcats or Pacers last year and he'd have a better season than D.J. Augistine and Darren Collison. He's another middle of the pack starter, not top 10, not bottom 10.
Chalmers is a good player when he want to, very good defensive player, great shooter, make good job protecting tha ball and in the last year improve very much his slashing ability.
Hey, I was something of a Chalmers hater and his contract extension, but he got better this year. His shooting percentage has gotten really good. 39% from three is real nice. He doesn't do a lot but he isn't asked to do much and he frankly isn't allowed to do too much. Of course he isn't a top 10 PG. He hasn't showed that. But he also isn't the worst starting PG just because he doesn't get asked to handle the ball and set people up. That isn't his fault and he could do some of it if necessary. He does his role pretty good on the Heat and he could do more if needed.
I'd call him average after last season. Nothing wrong with that.
Miami have1 of the best set of guards in the nba,but no pure point guard ...Seeing how the coach mix & match Chalmers,Ray Allen & Cole with Wade is going to be interesting.........

Boston Celtics guard last week said, ''he was the nba best point guard''..Rondo has a resume that can backup his argument..While some might disagree, his resume proves he might have a valid point and can place himself among the nba's best pgs..Rondo's a 3 time all star, has dished out 2nd most assists the past 4 years...
Mario Chalmers recently stated he's on the front end of the nba's Top 10 points...I have no problem thinking you're the best when you hit the court..It gives you confidence and pride in your game..But it's another to say it out loud and be completely wrong.....Chalmers doesnt even run his own team....He's 3rd on the team in assists,.He's a backup guard with limitations, that is fortunate to be playing with 2 guys that are among the 5 best in the nba....And those guys often set him up for big shots...Chalmers might lose his starting spot to Norris Cole this season...
