JoeyGladstoneParticipantKelly Hines @KellyHinesTW1m
News conference is in the #okstate Student Union Atrium during lunch hour and open to public. If announcing players leaving, that’d be weirdWhy announce in the student union you are leaving?
He announces he is staying that place will go nuts, & they will be a tough team next season.

IknoBall12ParticipantReally understand why he’d want to come back. It doesn’t make much sense to me he could be a top 5 pick this year. Would surprise me if he stays

Ghost01ParticipantReturning. Per Adrian Wojnarowski
Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA
Oklahoma State guard Marcus Smart will return for his sophomore season, sources tell Y! Sports. He could’ve been a top 5 pick in NBA Draft.

FreelanceScoutParticipantaccording to Adrian Wojnarowski of yahoo, he will return for his sophomore season. He could’ve been a top 5 pick in NBA Draft. But I think this kid really wants to win a National Championship.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantThat’s what’s up. If he gets his team to the final 4 he’ll be a top 5 pick for sure. I feel like this is a competitive decision to come back and put his team on his back and do work.
A weak draft gets weaker.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI’m shocked… Top five picks don’t usually return to school.

benny15Participantrespect on to the would have been top 5 pick. i love this decision of his in so many levels. it shows a maturity in his part to know that he’s not yet there as a PG, a position he will most likely play in the NBA. it shows his competitiveness taking to heart their first round exit in the tourney, not wanting that to be the way he goes out. it shows his comradere sacrificing a present opportunity for the good of the team.
what are the chances he’ll declare and wont hire an agent and return next year? i’ll still take him top 5 in this draft even though i know he will be returning to school for another year. that could be the case with taking nerlens noel anyway, difference is that the team wouldnt be paying him.

Beard13ParticipantThis sucks since i’m an orlando magic fan.

Ghost01ParticipantI honestly feel that this is a horrible decision. Wiggins, Randle, Parker, the twins, Aaron Gordon, better than good chance he doesn’t go top 5 next year, and he was a definite top THREE pick this year.

Lotto StudParticipantWho’s to say Smart won’t outplay both Harrison twins, even if he’s projected at both positions next year?
0- Posted on: Tue, 04/16/2013 - 5:35pm #763653
Ghost01ParticipantWho’s to say he will? He’s definitely a top 3 pick in this draft, there are no guarantees next year. Hell, Cody Zeller did this, and his stock fell even though this draft is worse than last years, let alone a class like this 2014.
Also, If he’s a better prospect than both twins, he still could go outside the top 5.
He would have gone 1-3 this year, he probably won’t next year. That’s the bottom line. You can’t argue a sure thing with “what-ifs”

r377ParticipantI like his decision to stay. Alot of PG’s enter the league and struggle with playing and trying to lead a pro team.
It doesn’t really matter if he gets picked 3rd or even 9th overall next year. What matters is that he is a better player mentally and physically.
It shows confidence of your own ability to back yourself and come back a better player next year

Lotto StudParticipantI’m not mad at all about his decision, I say this is wonderful news for NCAA basketball as a whole. Sometimes it’s good for a guy to comeback to get the correct teaching to improve his weaknesses that he may not have a chance to get as a rookie.
Most if not all “draftniks” have guilty pleasures of seeing the best players leave for the NBA especially Fr. prospects. Just think about how many of you would complain about Smart staying in school, if he came out this year and didn’t play well as a rookie.

cryan03Participantapparently he deiced to come back next year after he heard Tom Izzo speaking about how much Trey Burke improved from Freshmen year to Sophomore year. If he could improve his jump shot he could make a similar improvement and still be a Top 5 pick in next years draft.

halfdecayedParticipantYeah this kinda sucks for the magic, he would have been a good fit there.. So now do they reach for Burke? or draft Mclemore if available, or take a look at Oladipo??
