BostonCs FanParticipantAre the C’s giving up on Smart already? 76ers are reportedly entertaining offers to move down in the mid 1st round. The LA times have reported that the Cs are trying to capitalize on the opportunity of moving up in the draft and had offered a package of Smart, the 16th and 28th overall pick for Nerlan Noel and the third overall pick. But the 76ers were not interested. The rumors leave me to believe that Boston aren’t sold on Smart and that there possibly eyeing a point guard in the draft. Not to mention that the, Racine Journal Times are reporting that Boston are eyeing Cameron Payne. Thoughts? Id like to hear from my fellow Celtics fans as well.

mike_r232ParticipantCould be a good shake up for the C’s. This trade obviously is in favor of the Celtics, but could be a good starting point for negotiations. I wonder if they would be interested in adding a future 1st (one of the better ones they have in their arsenal) as well as a young vet to sweeten the pot. Or just remove the 3rd pick from the deal and do something with Smart and one of the picks for Noel. Not saying either of these would get done, just saying that the trade obviously needs some tweaks. I think the Celtics will be very active on Thursday night. Going to be an entertaining draft.

Lotto StudParticipantMore so, I do not think it is not about being sold on Mahcus Smaht. Isaiah Thomas is just that good, on top of the fact that they have paid Avery Bradley a huge lump sum.

220ParticipantIf Sam Hinkie traded Nerlens Noel and the third pick for Marcus Smart, the 16th, and 28th pick he should be fired on the spot. It’s not surprising they Sixers shot down that offer immediately.

For_Never_EverParticipantYeah, I’m haven’t been high on Smarts also. If they can come up on a deal with him, I’m all for it.

slash787ParticipantThere is zero chance the Sixers would ever make that trade.

holefillers1ParticipantThis reminds me of the trade offers I recieve in my ff league. And then the guy says but look the points for all these crappy players adds up to Andrew Lucks totals. I bet everyone at the Sixers facility had a good laugh then leaked this info.

B-ball fanParticipantBut this was an awful attempted trade. No way any pair of first rounders by the Celtics is nearly equal in worth to the third pick and Nerlens Noel is a better player than Smart.

Meditated StatesParticipantNot what they need. Thomas should start and at his age and skill level he deserves it. Smart will. If using him as a piece makes them better, get it done.

mamadouParticipantYou ain’t going anywhere with IT as your starting PG, he’s the best 6th men of the league for a reason.
Just like crawford, barbosa, ben gordon, JR and others…
Let him be the weapon he is in that role, a great 6th men is better than a losing starter.
Smart is all about wiinning, effort, leadership, you rebuild something with that kind of culture.

Bencelticsfan2346ParticipantIf you add AB and Young pulse a future first rounder maybe, a 20 year old possible perennial DPOY who is improving steadily on offense and rebounding and a third overall which could be use on a potential star pg like Russell or mudiay or a potential star like okafor or porzingis just smart and a mid first rounder and a late first rounder you’re more apt to find a good pg than you are to find an athletic center like Noel with good potential if the two teams could work out a fair deal It would be nice to see Noel who’s from the area in a Celtics uniform but it would sad to see a worker like smart go

For_Never_EverParticipantI don’t get why Smart has so many follwers. What makes him this great leader ? I don’t know if he will be good enough to be a starter to be honest.

TankensteinParticipantI wouldn’t even trade Noel for that offer. Or the 3 for that matter.

TheTruth86ParticipantI’ve been high on Marcus since he was a freshman in college and despite th3 up and down season I believe that he will live up yo his potential, esp on defence. I hope they dont trade him and I also believe he and Cameron Payne can share the court.

Meditated StatesParticipantIT is better than Smart so yeah if you can do better than IT do it but if not should Smart start over him? No. Celtics should take best player available.

BleedGreen808ParticipantObviously Ainge called Philly with that trade. That would be robbing Philly to get Noel AND the 3rd overall pick for Smart and 16 and 28. That conversation probably ended after Ainge made his offer.

VRod305ParticipantOf course we are not interested. That’s a horrible offer. We are giving up the two best assets in the trade. That was one of the dumber deals I’ve heard. I guess Ainge thinks Hinkie is a moron. I don’t get why people like Simmons think Smart is so great. He’s like Boston’s fourth best guard. This is like the kid in my fantasy league that wanted to give me like Eddie Royal and Toby Gerhart for DeMarco Murray.

ExumInfernoParticipantMy question out of all this would be how a small newspaper in Wisconsin has any idea on the Celtics drafting strategy?
