No one ever posts anything or talks about Marcus Morris. Yet somehow, everyone has him getting drafted in the lottery, if not the top ten. There is absolutely no way that when you take a look at his game that he is anywhere near one of the top 15 prospects in this draft. He’ll never start in the league. He’s very good at a lot of things, but doesn’t excel in anything. If you’re gonna get drafted in the lottery, shouldn’t people be talking about you? Shouldn’t you have at least the potential to be an all star one day? If Marcus Morris goes in the lottery, he’s got bust written all over him. There is no way in HELL that Michael Jordan takes this guy at #9. I just don’t see it.

Kwame was a man child in highschool, Morrison was the top scorer in the country. At the very least, those busts were reasonable picks at the time. Hinesite is always 20/20. I’m saying that I’m confident that he can find a better prospect at #9 than Morris. If his pick ends up busting again, so be it. But at least take a chance on someone with some more talent and upside

I don’t think he’ll be a bust either, I actually have him as a sleeper in this draft (if a lottery pick can be a sleeper). He’s got decent game… Can play the 3 or 4, good jumper, good footwork. He may not be an allstar but there aren’t many in this draft. We shouldn’t bash the kid

Who does your game most resemble in the NBA?

“I think the Al Harrington comparison is a little accurate, but I think maybe Carmelo [Anthony] I would say because I’m a mid-range king(WTF lol). I love the mid-range game. I think that’s what I can really hang my hat on being a mid-range player and on the defensive side I think that being versatile and guarding many positions. I think it can definitely work for me and just being so athletic and being versatile on the defensive side because I can guard any position

I actually like Morris and feel he’s one of the safer picks in this draft. I think you know what your’e going to get: A good banger, solid shooter who can play defense, slightly above the rim with high character. Al Harrington is a strong comparison, what about a Corliss Williamson comp?

I don’t know if people will agree with this comparison but I’ve always seen alot of Tyler Hansbrough in Marcus Morris’ game. Sneaky athletic players with good face-up games, adequate post game depending on the matchup, pretty good on the glass and play with good intensity. The difference is Morris is a bit quicker and a better ball-handler.

being a safe pick doesn’t make you a lottery talent. He’s a safe pick between 15 and 20.

I think he will be a decent player. He reminds me of Al Thornton.

1 reason alot of people arent that high on Marcus Morris is that he doesnt have much upside..They player you’ll see in his rookie or 2nd year is the same player you’ll see 5 years from now…

But he can be a starter in limited minutes on a veteran team….Becuz he does alot of the little things like a Shane Battier….

But in a weaker then usual draft, if there’s someone who can give you 30mpg, 14points, 6 rebounds a night ( what I think Morris will be at numbers wise), I think that’s a lotto pick in a "weak" draft

I actually love Marcus Morris potential as a big SF, a little bit old school type SF, physical for the position, with allround scoring game, some post up ability, some off the dribble ability, beautiful turnaround jumper and accurate 3 point shooting. i see the Al Harrington comparison as his most likely scenario but i feel he has ceiling potential to be like Jamal Mashburn.

I think he’ll be a consistent 7th or 8th man and an occasional starter on a good team. He has a polished offensive game and a solid defensive game. He can stretch out to the 3-point line and has a very good mid-range game. He also has the ability to play and defend the 3 and 4 positions. He has 3 years of college experience and is one of the most versatile players in the draft. He can pass the ball fairly well and has good handles, and he’s also a decent post player. He doesn’t have any outstanding physical attributes and he won’t be a superstar in the league but I think he’ll be a pretty good player.

I don’t know why people think he is a finished product and doesn’t have upside.  He may not wow you with athleticism or length, but the guy is a gym rat and worked really hard to maximize his athleticism and work on his game.  He’s one of those guys who will have a new move or two after every off season.  I think he’ll continue to work hard and improve as a player.

Just because a guy has a polished all round game doesn’t mean he can’t get better.  He could use to work on his ball handling and NBA 3 pointer and I think he will as he continues to polish the rest of his skill set even more. I think he’ll go top 12 and I think he could very well be a starter in the league.

If you havent’ heard anything then your not looking, he’s worked out with the Bucks and Warriors this past week and coaches and other players he went against have said very good things.

Yes, he is top 5-8 and the safest bet for a ten-year career and 30 minutes per game around. He scores inside and out, he passes the ball really well for a 4, he gets on the offensive glass extremely well, he isn’t a shot blocker but is a committed defender and will step in and take charges, and is role versatile. He can step in right away and contribute. The only way he falls out of the league is from an injury or series of injuries.

BothTeamsPlayedHard,  I agree with you completely. This guy is skilled enough to play in the league now and in the future and I feel he is a rotation guy in the NBA now and will be for his career. In this position in a weak draft, I think teams would be happy if theyy got someone who can contribute to their team for the next ten years and has the potential to do even more than that. I wish he was a little taller because I feel he would destroy NBA PF’s with his offensive skillset, but will probably be playing more SF. But I think he has the potential to be a starter or even one of the better starters at his position in the league.

MJBrown, I just dont understand why you think this. You said you haven’t heard much on him and therefore doesnt deserve the hype. 1. You should judge a player by watching him play in games not just of if you have heard from him or not from the media. 2. Do you ever read the top right box of this website? There is an article up of how Morris has impressed another NBA Team, and thats about the third one Ive heard from this website alone. MJ what about this kid doesnt scream good enough to be worth 9-20 in a weak draft?
