StewParticipantBoth are really great athletic guards that can create for others. I would say malik newman is the better scorer and shooter of the two, and muiday is better attacking the basket and more of a pure point guard. Just wondering which one of the two would you take?

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantMudiay and not even close due to the fact shooting can be taught plus Mudiay is 2 inches taller, longer more athletic and he’s a pg

tbest23ParticipantI guess you have to examine your particular needs. Bill Self has always loved a combo PG/SG type of kid to run his show. Other coaches like a pass first, second and third type of PG. Mudiay is a big dude with great PG skills but he’s a tad inconsistent if he has any minor flaws. Newman is a scoring machine with some crazy range but doesn’t look to pass unless his first few scoring options for himself aren’t there. I guess it’s like do you prefer Vanilla or Chocolate ice cream or Italian or Mexican food. I’d take either one at my alma mater!

rileymcshea3ParticipantBoth played on the same AAU team but I think this one is pretty obvious. Mudiay and a 6’4 athletic passing point guard, getting the Westbrook comparisons. Newman on the other hand is a 6’3 SG with a pure stroke and a scorers mentality. Don’t get me wrong I like Newman but previous top tanked combo guards like Austin River and Josh Selby didn’t exactly work out that great.
In terms of NBA potential I don’t think it’s close Eman Mudiay looks like a superstar in the making. As for college impact Newman will be able to get buckets, and Mudiay will be all around PG being able to do everything on the court.

laxmisonParticipantPro Level -Mudiay is a much better long term prospect: I think is very similar to Jrue Holiday, with a bit more upside.
I haven’t seen alot of Newman seems like he will be a great college player and good a pro, Undersized combo guards usually don’t start in the league. He prob could be an very effective scorer off the bench in the NBA. I love his game.
