MatosParticipantOk, I’ve accepted the face that the lottery is rigged. Hell, I’ve even said this years ago. What happened last night though, just had me shaking my head. It’s not that its rigged. It’s now that they are not even trying to hide it. Thats like robbing someone and saying you did it, then keeping what you deprived them of. Magic ACTUALLY CAME to the lottery. He sat there with a big smile on his face. Why? Well because HE SAID THEY WOULD KEEP IT two weeks ago. He told Luke to echo his sentiments. LaVar (although not the most creidble guy) said the Lakers were drafting his son. Almost as if they knew his son was the second overall prospect.
The league has gotten disgusting with their blatent antics. And every year this lottery is carefully thought out. I get that. But the disrespect when I saw Magic actually there. Like they weren’t gonna have him come out onlt to convey to the sixers. Sad. Been going on for years:
2010: On a draft after Gilbert Arenas has two separate events involving guns, it looks like the league wants him out. John Wall is the top prospect for the draft. Lottery results have the Wizards selecting first overall.
2011: LeBron leaves. Poor Cleveland. I know the solution. Lets get them the first and fourth overall picks
2012: Pelicans welcome a new owner. Welcoming gift is your superstar Anthony Davis through first overall pick
2013: Another 1st round selection for the still recovering Cavs. Remember, Lebron is a FA next year. Stack up the assets/trade chips.
2014: LeBron’s FA decision was the topic all season long (2012-2013). What was he going to do that summer? Would he come back? Would he go elsewhere? One thing was for certain. If he returned, they needed some firepower. They’d only get that firepower through trading chips. Cavs getting first overall meant that they either had a top rookie prospect to pair with Kyrie if LeBron went elsewhere, or the eventual trading chip which brought Love to Cleveland.
2015: Lakers convey their pick to the sixers if outside the top 3. Lakers finished 4th worst record, but the league can’t let anything bad happen to the Lakers. Everyone knew the Kobe era was closing and without a pick, the Lakers would be on the rebuild for years. Three clear cut talents ahead of the pack (KP wasn’t in hindisght). Lakers slip in.
2016: Sam Hinkie, widely considered a cancer to the league due to his rebuilding "Process" approach. Although tanking was already created, he gave it a center stage. With the league not wanting "tanking" center stage, he was replaced by Colangelo. Hey, here’s that welcoming gift again. 1st overall – Ben Simmons. FYI – I’m a philly fan. Just stating the obvious.
2017: Magic is in. Has a meeting with Adam Silver. Smiles his way into the top 3 for a third consecutive year not having to convey to the sixers. The kicker here is that had they fell out of the top 3, they would have had to convey to the sixers this year, and Orlando in 2019. The league wasn’t gonna prevent their most storied franchise from a critical rebuild.
I know a lot of topics are already centered around how this is rigged. But now I feel like we’re getting trolled. Can’t get that picture of Magic cheesing last night. Makes you think, what else is rigged? Will they troll us with that too?
Thoughts?

Reptilian MonkParticipantIn 2008, Derrick rose hometown kid to chicago at 1 percent. Lebron Leaves Cleveland, cavs win lottery at 2 percent chance get kyrie. Cavs win lottery in 2013 and 14. 2013 at 1 percent chance. They win 3/4 years lottery in a row use those picks to trade to form big 3 bring lebron back and K love to win a championship. Probablity Cavs win lottery 4 out of 12 years was 1 in 10,000.
They do what makes the most buisness sense and maximizes profit. Lonzo to Lakers is what the Nba wants and gets.

MatosParticipantI am not a Suns fan at all. I predicted they’d fall to the four to take Fox.

Yes, you have the past 40 years of evidence that Magic never smiles in public.

MatosParticipantHere you go again as Scare Crow pointed out, always with the negative remarks. Good job. Hope it made your day.

llperezyou sound surprised and upset magic was there. He was recently named president of basketball operations for the lakers and the organization wants to push his presence to help push the image of the lakers glory years and the hopeful return to them so of course he would be there.

MatosParticipantYou truely believe thats the reason why he was there? You truely think they’d risk (with more than 50% chance they convey) him looking like an idiot? Come on.

ChoppyParticipantGotta disagree with your logic for 2012. Getting a new owner = #1 draft pick? Detroit got a new owner, where’s our draft pick?! We’ve never had one. If it’s rigged, I want it rigged in favour of Detroit for once.

nill650Participantconspiracy theories are always just that; theories.
Rare to even have a theory based on Jealousy get any factual backing beyond lies.
The NBA has some odd manipulations to force ticket sales, but the draft lottery is not one of them.
