Land of GrantParticipantQuestion for you guys who watch LSU- are Jordan Mickey, Johnny O’Bryant III, and any other dudes like Jarell Martin legit NBA guys on that team? I haven’t watched them, but Mickey’s putting up poorish man’s Anthony Davis numbers and Johnny O’Bryant seems like he can produce. Should we talk about them more?

Sewok15ParticipantO’ Bryant has the tools to be a late 1st round pick this year. He has an NBA body for sure and throws his weight around. LSU dominating Kentucky inside was no joke…they have some serious size and athleticism in the frontcourt.
The other two freshemen appear to have NBA potential but they aren’t anywhere near ready and should stay in school before they even worry what their draft stock looks like.

terrancebowerParticipantHe could definitely be picked in the first round in a couple years. I don’t know as much about Mickey though, but his stats look great.

Pistol Pete. The PelicanParticipantI’m from Baton Rouge and I’ve played with all of these guys in the rec, and I actually know Jarell personally(pretty sure I mentioned that on here before). He used to stay down the street from me, he was like 6’3 playing football as a freshman, and we all told him to play basketball, then he grew 4 inches, transferred schools and finally started playing. I can say this, he’s had some people putting dumb ideas into his head, and that injury was probably the best thing that could have happened to him. Let me say this Jarell, with his size and athleticism has first round potential, but he’ll have to play the 3, even though he’s 6’9, 241. He isn’t strong enough to play the 4 full time, and he can’t bang, he’s more perimter oriented. He’s also shy, so his personality isn’t adapted to the world yet. That’s why he stayed home at LSU. Jarell played in class b in Louisiana which is the 2nd lowest division of basketball in Baton Rouge. For comparisons sake, I was a 5’7 small forward in high school at a class b school, and I was 1st team defense, I’m okay, but the competition isn’t very good. So he needs to stay a few year to grow as a person and a player, but he’ll be good in 1-2 years.
Jordan Mickey I knew he was a great athlete from Prime Prep(Deion Sanders’) school, he’s been getting Tyrus Thomas comparisons from some fans, I think he’ll end up better, but he’s a 6’8 hyper atheltic 4, with little to no perimeter skills. But remember how Tyrus burst on the scene his red shirt freshman year(another person I know personally). He’s getting some first round buzz now, so he may leave after this year.
Been a fan of JOB, he’s always been tough in the post, but he’s lost some weight, added more muscle, and has added a little perimeter game, maybe he can be a Jared Sullinger type.
Personally i’d love to see Mickey and Jarell stay, with Ben Simmons coming in 2015. That would be an amazingly versatile front court. LSU is getting some great recruits these days, look out for Brandon Sampson, class of 2016 shooting guard from the same school as Jarell, he’s 6’4 barefoot. Plays sort of like OJ Mayo. He may be coming to LSU in a few years.
