I just wanted to say how funny things have turned in the Love-Wiggins trade.

Back when it went down I was very annoyed as a Cavs fan as I wanted Cavs to keep Wiggins and didn’t buy into the story that Love would help bring the Championship to Cleveland. I know that was the thought of many many on here on the forum and in basketball circles.

But now, more then 3 seasons on, things have turned out very differently. Cavs got their ‘Ship, and Kevin Love is curently averging 22/11 on .400 3% on his way to his all-star level play. While also delivering one of the more icon basetball plays "the stop" on Curry in game 7 of the NBA Finals.

On the other side of things questions are now starting to be raised on Wiggins. Yes we know he can score the basketball, but he has somewhat undelivered in his 3rd season (due to the high expectations). His 3% has come back to earth from the hot start, is avergaing 22 points but not doing a lot of anything else. Quetions are being raised of his lack of playmaking ability, rebounding while also facing a few quetions over his perhaps overated defense coming out of college. I do remember lots of talk about him being a defensive stopper but has overwhelmed in this aspect.

I am not trying to feed Wiggins to the wolves, he is only 21 and has the tools to become one of the better players in the league but thought it was interesting that the tables have definitely turned from when this trade went down 3 seasons ago.

If any of you Wolves fans or guys who have watched the Wolves more then me I would love to here your views on Wiggins as I am mostly only raising questions on Wiggins.

I was skeptical about the trade at first as I thought that Wiggins could give LBJ a wider championship window than K-Love could. Wiggins has proved to be a very good scorer rather like K-Love was at Minny, both good players on a losing team.

I’m happy that K-Love got a title with Cavs and Minny got Wiggins as I assume that K-Love would have jumped to a contender in FA.

Good point by Nick about Wiggins’ lack of polaymaking skills, both him and Jabari are not considered primary ball handlers on their respective teams. I can never recall this being discussed during their draft year, Wiggins is possibly 4th choice ball handler on the T-Wolves and Kidd made Giannis ball carrier over Jabari at Minny.

The Cavs definitely won out on this trade. Wiggins was drafted #1 based on athleticism and ceiling, but unfortunately has not progressed much through his first few years. Parker out of Duke was criticized for his defense and lack of athleticism but has improved significantly in both areas. Parker arguably is the better prospect of the two with all things considered.

I think If Embiid was healthy going into that draft and had no red flags..that would of been best case scenario for lebron winning 4-5 in a row. (I can play the ifs and buts game all day) Kevin love has been really solid. They pretty much just created what lebron had in Miami but better. Kevin Love doesn’t get enough credit for having the best outlet pass in the game. He give lebron so many fast break opportunities. Give me Kyrie over wade other that that one year he won it with Shaq.

Love was leaving Minnesota so they had to trade him.  Cavs were looking to win now and that is a lot easier with a ready now star than a rookie who needed time to realize his potential.  Both teams improved in ways they needed at that time.
