    Philly

    Minny

I have on the website for years and I have never spoke about the Philly case. These young teams the regular NBA fans dont know much are in a great position to seriously compete hard in the future, maybe im being optimistic but these young cores have so much potential, adding to the fact that theese teams are still gonna be adding lottery picks the next 2 years. That to me is a better situation than most of these teams pretending to be competing for a title.

So yes, ever since I started to understand what it was like to be "in the middle of the pack" in the NBA, thanks to this website, I have been completely against it. I think Hinkie is doing a fantastic job, if he can add another potential star in the guard spot, how can anyone complain about what they have done? They traded MCW because they knew he would never compliment the twin towers they were building around and  they could pick D’ Angelo Russell the next year.

To me, is either contend with star vets, or build around young players with star potential. A lot of the same people who value how good the scenario Minnesota is in yet fail to realize that Philly is on the same boat, maybe vice versa.

Buttom line, Hinkie strategy, and staying out of the "middle of the pack" is essential, unless you have a super star or multiple stars on a good team.

Pacers already have their 25 year old star.  George is legit.  Defends well, and is a legit first option.

They had a drag em down defensive team mentality.  I’d like to see them dump Hibbert and play an up tempo game with Ellis and Turner.

I agree with the rest.  Pistons are praying Drummond becomes Shaq 2000-02.  Nuggets are a few moves from a complete rebuild.  They have nice pieces though, so if they play their cards right, could expidite the rebuild.  Suns are average, Kings are terrible, Nets are just waiting for the old guard to retire or come off their huge contracts, Mavs are playing "one more year" with Dirk, Toronto just plain suck, a healthy Lowry is basically all they have.

      Knicks and Lakers, suck it.

With the Pistons being on your list. They have a nice young core with potential for growth. Drummond doesn’t have to be Shaq, Dwight would be closer to what they’re hoping for.

How the hell do you lump the number one seed in the east with the Knicks, and the Lakers?

Not a lakers fan but I like their current core of Russel, clarkson, and randle. Upshaw could be a special defensive minded center if he gets it together

You are right, they have something going there. I just don’t understand why Kobe is in the team, he needs to retire. Nobody wants to play with him, seriously, I’m not hating and I’m very unbiased in basketball, Kobe is an all-time great but he also has that Jordan prickness to his game that in todays NBA is hard to get along, he’s just too intense for other people.

Kobe needs to retire or (I dont think it would happen) get traded, Lakers need to be bad for the next two years and draft extremely smart.

      .

I also want to take the pacers out of the list above since they have Paul George, who is cream of the crop.

As for the Kings and Demarcus, let’s just say the franchise is a disaster, no one wants to go there, and who ever they draft won’t be in the same age class with Cousins to compete.

I don’t mind the Kings line-up. Rondo, McLemore, Gay, Bellenelli, Cousins, WCS.

I agree its a solid core around rondo, he has 2 deadly three point shooters in mclemore and belinelli, a solid all around scorer in gay, a dominant post precense and pick and roll/pick and pop player in cousins, and a nice pick and roll/lob target in WCS. It helps he’s in George Karl’s offense where passing point guards flourish. He should bounce back and average 8-12 points, 5 rebounds, and 10 or more assists per game. Collision is a nice instant offense point guard/shooting guard sixth man off the bench as well

I also like the core, but two are rookies and one’s a sophmore.  I hope they develop a bit and then Lakers trade them for a 36 yr old Melo

Well Kobe is gone after this season so one season of his mentoring and them learning what it takes to have a solid work ethic and the mentality it takes to max out their potential should be good for them

I like wat Minny is doin. Towns, Wiggins, dieng,Muhammed & not sure if rubio’s horrible shooting allows him to be part of the future. I also like what the bucks are doing although even if the addition of monroe is a plus when he get double- teamed its might not pan out well for them when he passes to a wide open giannis or mcw.

Im not sold on philly. They keep drafting bigs on top of not signing any free agents. I know they are trying to raise a young core together but there has been some nice young free agents available.

My young team on the rise is utah. Gobert, favors, hayward& hopefully lyes and good hood can stick aroind for a while.

The two teams I’m very high on right now are the Jazz and Bucks, for obvious reasons. Both were great defensively last year, and both are throwing out versatile, young defensive minded teams that can only get better. I expect both teams to be fighting in their respective conferense finals within a couple of years, and wouldn’t be surprised to see them meet in the finals over the next 6 years if they can keep everyone together and develope the way we think they can.

    Gobert

    Favors-Lyles

    Hayward

    Burks-Hood

    Exum-Burkes

Is an unbeleivable rotation of young players, and with a few solid vets with experience on the team could be fighting for a playoff spot in no time. I like the Gobert/Favors/Lyles frontcourt, and think it can be dominant as all three of them have unique skill sets, and is probably the best defensive group in the league. People like to sleep on Favors, but the dude put up 16/8/1.5 with 1.7 blocks last year on 53% shooting. He’s a great player, and has improved every single year. He also has shown the ability to become a good shooter, shooting 40% from 10-16 feet last year. Hayward is also another piece I like that can really be a fantastic 2nd option and go to player in the clutch, and think he is a big part of their future. He can run the offense, shoot lights out, and is an incredible passer. Really excited for what this team can do, but again, it all comes down to developement. If Exum can turn into a servicable starting PG or they can trade for a solid PG than this team is going to be scary.

The Bucks are also in the same boat as the Jazz, and I’m very excited for them as well. I won’t go too much into the Bucks because I literally just started a thread about them today, so all I’m going to say is the core of Parker/Giannis/Middleton/Monroe could be special, and think that they can do well if they continue to play defense like that did last year.

I agree with the Bucks and Jazz being exciting young teams with bright futures, Monroe signing with the Bucks gave them a big push, I love the young core my Jazz have in place and see good things in the future for them, Their 19 and 10 record after the all star break gives us Jazz fans good reason to have high hopes. Of the core group Hayward is the oldest and he is like 25 yrs old. Hayward averaged over 19 pts per last yr, Favors over 16 and both of them should continue to improve, one of the players I am most excited about is Hood, he averaged somewhere around 20/21 pts per game the last month and was rookie player of the month in the west. Reports are that he is working really hard and looking really good. Exum may be the key to how well the Jazz play/improve this coming year and reports are he is working real hard, has put on 10 pounds of muscle and looks good. How he looks in the summer league will tell a lot. He knows he has to be a lot more aggressive offensively , his D is already good and will get better as he gets stronger and more experienced. I think the addition of Trey Lyles will be another positive piece to this group.
