Looks like Wes Johnson to NJ is for real

Marc Stein reports both Carlos Boozer and Johnson are represented by Rob Pelinka.

Package deal that makes sense for NJ.

So it starts to get interesting at Minnesota's pick.

Makes Sense

With Drafting Wes they can do a lot. They could still go after a Joe Johnson, LeBron or Wade and Wes could actually start next to one of them. With all the forwards available to be overpaid they are likely to get one, so what's the point in drafting Favors? So he could be burried on the bench ala Bayless. And even if they don't get one of the wings in free agency they just sured up the 3 spot. So it's Harris-Lee-Wes-(freeagent)-Lopez... Sounds like a soild core if you ask me.

Minny should package that pick and try to get a wing player or draft a 4 and trade either Love or Big Al...

Minnesota takes Favors, Kahn

Minnesota takes Favors, Kahn sees Rubio and him as a sort of a future Nash/Amare. Don't be shocked to see them move up to 12, the deal ESPN reported was incorrect, it's 16 and 23 for 12, there they would take Paul George.

Why would NJ pass on Favors?

Re: Why would NJ pass on Favors?

Probably because the new Russian owner wants to win now and doesn't want to wait 3 years for Favors to polish up his low post game. Carlos Boozer is a proven veteran and Johnson played 3 years in college. They've upgraded their starting lineup significantly with this move.

Minnesota should've hired

Minnesota should've hired Bill Simmons instead of David Kahn!

Rubio doesn't come over and now they're talking about trading Flynn. They passed on Curry. Al's going to be old before they ever get competitive. Brewer is long and OK but not an impact player. Kevin Love is not a bad guy to have around but certainly isn't a title-contending major piece.

At least there'd be some storylines and some reason to watch or follow them if the Sports Guy was running the show. Plus he said he'd do it for free!

Great Idea

I love Cousins in Minny over Favors. Cousins can play along side Jefferson or Love and they don't lose much if anything offensively and on D. Whereas with Favors you get no O right now. I mean if they get Cousins all they need is a consistent shooter on the outside and they will see vast improvements.

If I'm not mistaken (maybe I am) they have another 1st round pick. I say with that pick they take Dominique Jones and they have a dynamic scorer.

Interesting. For Utah fans do

Interesting. For Utah fans do a sign and trade, with Jersey and get Terrance Williams and a couple of draft picks. Right now Wes has no room in Jersey because of Williams and CDR. Utah wants value out of Boozer. If jersey wants him so bad then they are going to have to give T. Williams and a couple of draft picks.
Jersey Lineup
Harris
Lee/
Johnson/CDR
Boozer/YI
Lopez

Jazz Lineup
D. Williams
Matthews
T. Williams/AK
Millsap/9th pick(Davis)
Okur

Nj has gotta take Favors in

Nj has gotta take Favors in case they cant sign a boozer or lee or amare. at 27 they could get either a two or a three who could be an impact player(robinson, pondexter, stepheson, etc)

well nj taking johnson makes

well nj taking johnson makes some sense becuase there are many pf's out there that are free agents and the nets have a ton of money to throw at one of them, and i think they might sign one, so why draft favours and bury him on the bench and backing up a 100 million dollar guy?...why not take wed johnson and have him start with ur free agent so it would be pretty sick...harris/lee/johnson/boozer or amare or bosh/lopez...pretty good..

as for minnesota...they get screwed lol...but what i think they shud do is draft cousins forsure..why draft favor's wen u already have 2 pf's...they can draft cousins and trade big al for a good wing player..so it looks like one of the other teams like sac/gs gets lucky and can get favors...IF the nets take johnson..lol..i think nets are jus tryna play with the twolves so they can steal one of their later draft picks so they can trade the 3rd for 4th and 23rd maybe or something lol....thats only if the twolves are really really intrigued by johnson..

The one thing you guys are

The one thing you guys are all wrong about is if Favors gets drafted he WILL NOT be buried on the bench. Every team needs at LEAST 3 good big men. Nets have 1 right now-Lopez. If they sign Boozer, that makes 2. Those 2 are not going to play 48 minutes each. Lets say Lopez plays 35 and Boozer plays about 31..That leaves 30 minutes for Favors (maybe about 25, with Yi getting spot minutes at PF and SF)--And you can't say 25 is not a lot, because, that is the same amount of minutes that Love got his rookie year (then got 28 his 2nd year)

I'm not saying they are going to take Favors, just saying the buried on the bench argument is flawed.

Jersey is smart by drafting

Jersey is smart by drafting Johnson and then doing a sign and trade with Utah for Booz. The real question where does Favors go now. Wolves, no, no room. Kings, nope also no room. Warriors, maybe but what about Randolph? I have him at 7 to the Pistons. They cant pass on him. Any thoughts on where Favors goes?

Why Johnson????

The Nets need a 4. Favors will take a couple years, Cousins could be a mistake or just a miss. So why not Greg Monroe. He has all of the skills to go at 3 in the draft and he is NBA ready. He is an excellent passer and could fit right in with the Nets. The nets dnt need johnson of favors or even cousins to win. Monroe is the guy tht u can win a championship with right away.

exactly

There is not a sarting 4. If the Nets Were smart they could trade down to about 4 or 5 because Monroe will be gone by 6 and get minnasotas other first round pick so they could improve even more than they expected to. Get monroe and then get a Gordon Hayward Devin Ebanks or even Damion James at SF

I really don't think Wes

I really don't think Wes Johnson is that much better than Terrence Williams.

johnson better

wes johnson is a zillion times better than twill...twill has no jump shot, hes got a better handle but no jumper...wes can fill the scoreboard, he reminds me of granger, same deal, older good jump shooter except hes got ball handling issues instead of injury concerns like granger...greg monroe would be nice too, hes the only big man i want the nets to take if they dont end up getting a boozer/stoudemire/lee and go for gay instead

If I'm minny right now, I

If I'm minny right now, I just take cousins, move al to the 4 spot, bring Love off the bench. Drafting Favors will only complicate the situation, as opposed to Cousins, where he could play what seems to be his natural Center position.

I'm hoping against hope that

I'm hoping against hope that this scenario plays out:

1) Wizards-Wall
2) Sixers-Turner
3) Nets-Johnson
4) T-Wolves-Cousins
5) Kings-Monroe
6) Warriors-Favors

Play Favors at the 5, and ship Biedrins! GS doesn't need more offense, it needs defense, and Favors can contribute better than Biedrins can on that side right away! If this miracle happens, I will stop cursing our luck for falling down to the sixth pick...

Wesley Johnson isn't much

Wesley Johnson isn't much better than Terrence Williams, if at all. He's a better shooter for sure, but outside of that I don't see how he's better. And I think Williams will play SG anyway.

Minnesota has said they'll take Favors if he falls, if I'm not mistaken.

New Jersey really should look to take Monroe over Johnson though. They need a high level PF more than they do a wing. And they can pick up a wing in the late 1st or early 2nd round (Stanley Robinson, Devin Ebanks, Quincy Pondexter). I think Monroe should be their pick honestly. I think he's a better fit than Johnson is.

Minnesota is taking Favors if

Minnesota is taking Favors if he falls to them, why is everybody stating the fact that Minnesota already has two PFs in place? They won 15 games last year! Nobody on the roster is safe, I would be completely shocked to see Al Jefferson still on the Wolves roster after next season's trade deadline. He's as good as gone, the Wolves are just waiting for a good offer, they figure it will come after Jefferson looks completely healed from his ACL injury.

Few things: 1) Everyone is

Few things:

1) Everyone is severely UNDERRATING Wes Johnson. He has excellent size (6'7)... A very good shooting touch (51% FG, 41.5% 3 PT)... Very unselfish--doesn't need the ball in his hands to be productive... Very athletic... Very good rebounder (8.5 per game is no accident)... Averaged over 3 combined blocks/steals a game..Averaged 1.40 points per shot(Evan Turner averaged 1.38.. Paul George averaged 1.34) .. Solid FT shooter (77%)...

All of this while being in the best basketball conference in the country.. and injured! On top of it all he is a good guy with no red flags at all... It's honestly a joke if anyone says T-Will is near the player Wes is.

2) Favors is not dropping past Sacramento.. If some reason Minny takes Cousins over him, Sacramento will take him. They are both struggling teams and will take BPA regardless of position. So Warrior fans give up hope now.

Johnson will be a very good

Johnson will be a very good player, but he's not much better if at all better than Williams.

Johnson is athletic, unselfish, a great rebounder, and averaged over 3 steals and blocks combined a game, etc. But Williams did all the same things in his Senior season at Louisville too, in the same conference, with probably better overall competition (the Big East in 08-09 was crazily competitive and talented). Johnson is simply a better shooter. That's it.

I wouldn't say simply a

I wouldn't say simply a better shooter... I'd say it more like "Wes is above and beyond a better shooter than T-Will will ever be" it isn't even close and it's what will separate them in the pro's by a lot. T-Will's best scoring year at Louisville was 12.5 ppg.. They are similar except Wes is a much better scorer.

Williams shot 38% from 3 as a

Williams shot 38% from 3 as a Senior though. Williams shot isn't that bad at all really. He's more like an average shooter, and Louisville didn't have a system where one guy was head and shoulders the best scorer or a 1st option so that's why Williams only had 12 ppg. He'll be a decent scorer in the NBA, possibly 17 or 18 ppg in the next 2 years. Johnson will probably be a better scorer though. I agree
