Celtics3178ParticipantThere are reports The Lakers would pass on Ball if the draft was today and unless he blows them out the water during his work out they are gonna take Fox or Ball. Fox or lonzo would both compliment there current core but Jackson would be a head scratcher since he plays the same position as Ingram. If lonzo falls past the Lakers philly must be ecstatic. He seems like a perfect with there with his size and passing. I don’t think he has the first step or mechanics to be a scoring threat but he has greats vision rebound and play D. He’s unselfish Simmons and Embiid if they can stay healthy could be a deadly trio going forward. Do people think philly would pass on him tho because of his dad. Normally I would say no but Simmons and Embiid are such good kids bringing in a loud mouth figure like him might not be the best situation.

MattP31ParticipantLonzo isnt a loud mouth at all. He is really a very quiet, humble, good kid. Just that his dad is this generations Marv Marinovich with a bigger reach.

nill650ParticipantYou are correct, and Lonzo is a good kid who eats sleeps and loves the game, which is also why it is a diservice to him for the national media & his father to have deceived so many would be ballers into thinking this kid is the next jason kid.
He will fail to live up to the lofty expectations initially, whether ot not he can become that guy is another story, but man I would not want that kind of pressure if I was him.

nill650Participantscratch head
Jackson is a perfect fit in LA at the 2. and can defend better than ingram on switches . Jackson Playing next to Rusell. is a more ballanced offensive defensive backcourt with Jackson playing so well without the ball & Russel so well with it. and ingram as a scorer 1st or 2nd option, along with the likes of Adebayo or similar defensive player in the paint that can guard stretch 5’s taken at 28 . The Lakers are better for it.
Ball seems destined to be a Laker, but none of that buzz is coming from within the Lakers org. so take that with a bowl of salt.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantMagic Johnson has gone one record comparing Lonzo to himself….buzz coming from the president of basketball operations. Nice try though.

MopgrassParticipantI agree: Jackson is a great pick to play SG. He’d have to start with Nance because Randle and Jackson are already too many shooters. Eventually, if possible, I’d like to see Ingram at the 4, Jackson at 3, and a shooter at the 2, Ingram may never build enough muscle, but I hope he can. At 28 I like Jonathan Jeanne. He’s not very ready, but he’ll switch onto guards on the perimeter and swat shots.

Sewok15ParticipantThe report is from Jordan Schultz of the Huffington Post so who knows how accurate it is. Even if that is what someone told him it could be misdirection or an effort to bring some potential trade offers.
Consensus is Ball isn’t dropping out of the top 2 but it would be very interesting to see what happens if he does.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantLonzo Ball is gonna be an absolute STAR. not worried

Mr. 19134ParticipantNo Philly wants no part of Ball whose being projected way too far out his realm of capabilities. He seems like a good kid and hard worker so its not his fault but he has some debilitating holes that limit him at the next level that arent quick fixes.
Hes a top 10 player imo but not a top 3 in this draft Fultz and Jackson are clearly the top 2 followed by Fox, Tatum, Monk and Smith.

jaysmith1987ParticipantThe hype of lonzo not going to the lakers is ridiculous. If you believe lonzo is a good player you don’t care about his dad when it comes down to the draft. There have been many of players with bigger red flags go no 1 overall in the draft. My case Allen iverson had multiple street guys around him coming into the league as we as lebrons Mom being a distraction. His dad is just playing the villain to get more mentions and views to there clothing and shoe line and it working. ESPN talks about lonzo every few days and keep taking lavar. They are getting free marketing. The whole lavar being a problem to an nba team let’s be serious what NBA team is going to allow a dad to run an organization. Plus you all don’t think his dad knows that if lonzo is not in the NBA he can’t make any money. Lavar is just drawing attention for free marketing he knows if he became a problem in NBA he risks all his sons future.

holefillers1ParticipantOp, I think the Sixers would pass on him because he doesn’t project as a 3D prospect and he needs the ball to be most effective. He becomes a one trick Pony with the Sixers…one ugly ass trick.

MatosParticipantFirstly, we have to acknowledge that the Lakers likely won’t pass him up. Then if they do, the sixers will do one of two things:
1) Pick him
2) If they really don’t want him, they trade down two spots to a team that does want him. More assets.
