Will he ever be considered the top Point Guard in his class? Ive always been high on him. Hes 6’6" with the best passing ability in this class by far and in a long time. I think he is a better shooter than people realize and he crashes the boards alot but I think thats due to him being one of the tallest players on his team. Im not sure of his defense but he does get alot of steals. Probably gambles alot.

He flatout knows how to play. His playstyle is definitely similar to Jason Kidd’s. He’s definitely more athletic than Kidd. How do you guys think he ranks among the other point guards on his class? Also, do you guys have any opinion on his 2019 brother LaMelo who dropped 30 on Kobi Simmons AAU team before he even entered high school? He could probably end up better than Lonzo

Best PG in this class? No. That’s De’Aaron Fox, I’ve got Fox in a tier above the rest, then players like Ball, Smith, Alkins, Fultz, Andrew Jones and Frank Jackson not far off.,. Lonzo’s easily the best passer of the bunch, and his HS team Chino Hills is the best in the Nation IMO.

The J. Kidd comparison is legit..

LaMelo is a damn good prospect too! That class he’s in (2019) is loaded on the wing though.. He looks like a top-50 recruit easily, and I’d say the best shooter of the brothers(and one of the better shooters that’s sufaced in the class).. He’s probably a top-35 player and I’d imagine will be on the borderline of 5 star status for years to come.  I’d have to say right now Greg Anthony’s son Cole is better.

Number 4 maybe. It’s Smith first, then Monk then Fox.

It’s kind of hard to compare him and fox because they are different types of pgs. Fox projects more as a scoring pg while ball is more of a traditional pass first point. Balls court vision and passing ability is phenomenal and there are definitely some similarities to Kidd in his game. At this point though, I would stick with grevis Vazquez as a more realistic baseline comparison.

He is the best PG prospect coming out of high school in the last 2 or 3 years.. I maybe a little bias being from California, but I haven’t seen a better PG in awhile. Especially after Watching De’Arron Fox on ESPN last week, I really don’t see how you can not come away thinking Lorenzo Ball is better of two. I think because he plays on a small AAU team, and doesn’t play in one of the shoe circuits he doesn’t get the credit.

I wouldn’t rule out him eventually becoming the #1 PG in his class.  It’s a deep PG class and it’s crowded at the top.  I wouldn’t have anyone head and shoulders above the pack, not even Fox. (FWIW, I have Fox, Fultz and Ball bunched up at the top…in that order probably.)

Lonzo has one of the most unique games I’ve seen in recent memory.  Unlike most PGs these days, he prefers to advance the ball with the pass as opposed to dribbling.  His vision is awesome, knows how to manipulate defenses with subtle looks and fakes. He clearly knows how to anticipate steps ahead and pass players open but he mixes that in with super risky play like risky home run passes and bad quick shots.  The latter could be symptomatic of his team’s style of play.  His AAU team is wild.  Extremely loose, run and gun, tons of 3, full court style, cherry picking all over the place.  His High School team is a little more restrained but still has a lot of the same tendencies.  I think he’ll have a lot of bad habits to weed out in the near future.

As for his game, he’s got great size, probably the best among all the PG prospects along with Fultz when you combine length and frame. Laterally he’s quick, so I think he’ll be able to check 1s.  He’s clearly the best passer or the bunch.  Open court he’s fast, but he doesn’t turn the corner in the half court like some of the other PGs.  One thing that I hate about his game is his shot though.  He’s got a quick release but his release point is super low which will be easily contested at the higher levels and it’ll make it even more difficult for him to get his shot off the bounce, limiting his PnR potential.  He also happens to have crappy shot selection, which again could be symptomatic of his team’s style of play.

And another thing, he’s not a more athletic Jason Kidd. Young Kidd was super athletic.  One of the fastest end to end guards with the ball I’ve ever seen, and he did it at 6’4 with an NBA build and strength at an early age.  Unlike these twigs in HS, Kidd had speed, bulk AND power.  Put legitimate bulk on these young bucks and lets see if they retain their current speed.

Ball is not more athletic than Jason Kidd was. Jason was Russell Westbrook fast at 6’4" 210 pounds and had good bounce. He wasn’t as bouncy as Westbrook was, but neither is Ball and Ball is nowhere near as fast as Jason was.  We are prisoners of the moment when it comes to the hype os thes kids today. Jason Kidd was a man playing with boys in high school. Lonzo is a boy playing with boys. A very talented boy, but a boy nonetheless

Holiday is the teams best defender by a wide a margin and probably has as much upside as anyone currently on roster. Hamilton and Alford are the teams two best players. Throw in Lonzo and that’s 4 high quality guards not to mention prince Ali who is solid. That’s going to be a hell of a perimeter.
