So people have been looking at JLin’s turnovers of about 5 a game during Linsanity (the last 8 games). I was thinking Lin is being asked to do too much and the result has been lots of turnovers by Lin. But I thought what about as a team. So I looked at team turnovers. I was a little shocked at what I found.

The Knicks average 16.7 turnovers per game. About average for an NBA team, I think.

I looked at the team turnovers during Linsanity . . .

    Nets game 14, Jazz game 17, wiz 8, lakers 17, wolves 19, raptors 16, kings 18, and hornets 21

That averages to 16.25 a game.  The trend isn’t great with that hornets game at the end. But seriously it really looks like Lin is soaking up some team turnovers and concentrating it in his stats because they are asking him to do so much. But if he isn’t raising the team turnovers then there’s really doesn’t seem to be a serious problem here. Also, I’m pretty sure that he can lower his own turnovers with experience.

Good points, and it’s way too early and too small of a smaple size to come o any conslusions at this point. By Mid March we should have a beter indicatiion of where he stands in regards to turnovers.

They are not relevant when your Winning. Jeremy Lin weakest is clearly his physical strength but he will get a trainer (After that big payroll thats coming soon) and work on that part of his game.

Lin is fairly strong by his post up and drives to the lane but he is 6’4" or more in shoes and should be really dominated when it comes to finishing against smaller defenders.

This is basically his rookie year in a way as far as minutes so I am sure the Lin next with more training camp and working on his weak areas will be a beast.

I think people forget that some point guards we love now took a while to get really good.

Also they will have time for 4 practices at full strength after the all Star break.

Their record after that should be interesting because they have a lot of fire power and if things click, they could possibly go on some more streaks longer than the one that just ended.

D’antoni might wanna cut back on his mins too 35-38 is plenty with this crazy schedule.

Once he stops forcing it when 2-3 defenders are on him his turnovers will decrease rapidly.

When Mello and Amare are both back the to’s will go down its only natural.

Also 18 tunovers against the Kings means very lil the game was a blowout for the entire 4th qtr.

You can live with the turnovers when they are early on but they had too many against the Wolves and Hornets.

I’m just happy Bill Walker is going back to the bench soon he’s awful as a starter.

Lin 7 turnovers, but total Knicks team turnovers only 16. So again, the team isn’t turning the ball over any more than before Linsanity, it is just the turnovers are getting concentrated in Lin. This can’t continue like this, but it is interesting that no one is reporting that team turnovers aren’t up even though folks are making a big deal about Lin’s turnovers.
