Lillard named USA basketball 2016 finalist

It’s nice to see Lillard being considered for the team. He and the Blazers have had a great year and I’m still pissed he’s not an all star.
Unfortunately, I still don’t see him making the team although if it were my team I’d find a way to have him on it. I’d take a proven clutch star over the star with the best stats per say. But I certainly understand him not being on there, as it’s a stacked roster.
The finalists are up to 31 now: James, Paul, Anthony, Aldridge, Barnes, Beal, Butler, Conley, Cousins, Curry, Davis, DeRozan, Drummond, Durant, Faried, Gay, George, Green, Griffin, Harden, Hayward, Howard, Iguodala, Irving, Jordan, Leonard, Love, Thompson, Wall, Westbrook, and now Lillard.
My opinion:
PG: Curry, Paul
SG: Westbrook, Harden
SF: Kawhi, Lebron, George
PF: Green, Melo, Durant
C: Cousins, Davis
Honorable Mentions: Aldridge, Butler, Drummond, Griffin, Klay, Lillard, Wall.
I somehow see Irving being placed on this team as Coach K is the coach…I love Westbrook’s fire, but I’d be a little wary putting him on this team just like I am putting Cousins. Cousins I have less of a problem with because there are so few ELITE big men, but tons of guards. Just my opinion. What do you guys think?

  After 2016. Coach K is done after 2016, Popovich takes over 2017-2020.
  Point being Coach K has the final say for this Olympic roster.

I agree with the roster you posted very closely, but if you think that Lebron and Durant would come off the bench for the team then you are crazy. Maybe you werent specifying that as a depth chart tho

  Wasn’t specifying as a depth chart, just a list of names. I do think Kawhi is the best SF in the NBA though…sorry Lebron. Kawhi has to be runner up for MVP behind Curry at this point.
  If I had to choose a starting lineup from the names I mentioned I’d go:
  PG: Curry
  SG: Harden
  SF: Kawhi
  PF: Durant/Lebron
  C: Cousins
  I’m sorry, but I can’t justify bringing Kawhi off of the bench after the season he’s having (superior to either Durant or Lebron…). One of them PROBABLY SHOULD be coming off of the bench. Probably won’t happen like that and Kawhi will end up coming off the bench. I could see Harden moving to the bench though and all 3 starting.
