Lets stop this Kevin Durant nonsense
Let me start off by saying that I am a big Kevin Durant fan, liked him through college and i thought the Blazers made the wrong choice picking Greg Oden over him, but im reading alot of posts about Durant praising him, but you guys are overating him, he is an all-star and will be one for many years, but he is not yet a superstar, he still has many holes in his game. If you asked people on this site to name the top 5 NBA players, most would put him in there, alot right after Kobe and LeBron, there are a couple of you nuts who might even put him 2nd, he is called a future HOF, there is only one player who ive ever seen at such a young age who ive ever been comfortable calling a lock for the Hall-LBJ, at the same age LeBron took a Cavs team to the playoffs while the amazing KD took the Thunder to one of the worst records in the league if your saying he'll become a top 50 all time player, youre truly overating him. The last post I read was people saying they take KD over Dwight Howard, rediculous
I know i will get alot of negative points for this but i just needed to get it off my chest
long term potential. the dude is averages 25ppg at 20 years old. I said he would be the most unstoppable scorer by age 24. this almost looks true.
Sorry. I think this man is a stud...right now. He is closing in on Superstar Level.
He can play very well now. All he needs to do is improve his Defense. He could be a HOF.
You need to check the age thing again because Lebron took a while to even make the playoffs and Durant is young and in his second season he average 25 points but that is not the big thing. He did it shooting high percentages from everywhere. He also displayed an all around game and did not get to lost on defense. He is 6'10" and very long. His offensive skills are ahead of Lebron who is a better athlete and all around player and has a freak body for his over all talents. i think it is too early to put him in top 5 now but I can see why people would do it. ofensively he does not have many weak points. He has a 3 point game. He has a mid range game. He has few post moves that he will not be able to use effectively until he gain a lil more strength( think Rashard lewis). He can pass fairly well even though as a go to guy does not do it that much. He makes offensive read well. Watch him and it reminds me of Kobe sometimes where Kobe makes a read and then makes the defense looks like they are in slow motion because they seem too late on every move. His drive game is nice and he knocks free throws down at like 90 % so when he drives it almost scores or get foul. Can get pushed around a lil now but when he gets stronger that will not be the case. He is above average ball handler. He can get steals and blocks with his length but is still learning to play defense. His team is young but even with that, team have to show up now because with their new coach they have been beating many good teams. I can see them at 30 to 35 wins this season in a West that is stacked and got better this offseason. They could win more but I don't know how well Harden will do and also Durant is still getting better. Westbrook looks better. There is really no telling how good this team will be. Lebron did not do anything when he had young teammates. I think it took him 3 years to get to the playoffs. Thank goodness for Boozer.
Kevin isn't going to take the Thunder to the playoffs anytime soon because of how loaded the West is. But that doesn't mean you can knock this man of all his great skills. When LeBron came out of High School he was thought to be the next great thing. But he was not as talented as Durant is now when Lebron was the same age. If you compare their skills sets at the age of 20 KD is ahead by alot. I'm not saying that Durant is going to be the best ever (even thou there's a very good chance he could be) but he is going to be in the top 50 greatest of all time by the time he is done. And as of right know if he's not slowed by injures Kevin Durant is a LOCK for the HALL OF FAME.
with houston looking out of the picture...or around 8th seed...i think okc has a great chance to make 8th seed if everybody is healthy
dallas just lost gortat...if they can get a center or another big guy before the season starts..they'll stay in for sure.
Do not only look at the 25 points but how he got the 25 points. That is what is scary because if dudes shoot any better he could be at 55 percent in like 2 years. He has unlimited range, long arms, and can get his shot off against most defenders. Once he gets strong enough to where they can't push him off balance. He will be able to shoot like he is by himself. Look up and see what bench players can shoot when no one is there. That will tell you how good he can be. Also you can't foul him because dude makes most of his free throws. The question will be can you guard him. If you can't can you shut down everyone else. Once he gets there they will not be able to stop him. Durant will become what T Mac could have become but did not because of injuries and work ethic. That equates to HOF and also better than Kobe. Right now Kobe has experience and D but in like 3 more year that may not mean anything.
Tracy had the natural ability to become of one of the best ever if he wasn't hurt all the time. Kevin can become a better version of T-Mac with his worth ethic and desire to get better
The Thunder will be better thats for sure but there is a few things in their way of being 8th seed. Their big man situation is kinda bad. I love how they did on draft night but who will get the rebounds for them? Jeff Green is more of a SF than PF like Rashard Lewis so he wont get 10 a game. Probably 7. Krstic only got 5.5 in the season. And Mullens is a work in progress.
Also, their bench isnt too strong. I see 30-35 wins this year. They are kind of rivals with Memphis now and as for line ups I see it like this.
Mem Bench>>>>>OKC Bench
you don't need a freak athletic center to win a championship either. andrew bynum is not athletic or a freak style player. neither is tim duncan. neither is perkins.
simply, durant can play 2-3-4. IMO, he's truely a 3. but he's that versitile, at age 20, he's averaging 25ppg, percentages were much better this year than the year before...it almost looks impossible to block his shot with his length.
when he reaches age 24...if no injury occurs..this guy could be
27-30ppg, 6-7rpg, 2apg, 2bpg, 1.5spg, 3tpg. shooting at 48-50% FG, 40-42% 3pt, 86-92% FT. At best he could have these stats for 2-3 years before his numbers drop. i'm guessing around age 28, his numbers will drop due to age and wear/tear.
but the next 3-4 years is going to be pretty entertaining. then when he's 24, we'll get 3-4 years of seeing how truely amazing he is. after that, we'll see how good he plays.
He should average more assists than that just off the fact that he will be surround by a lot of shooters. I will say this though the thunder are a big defensive Center away from having a better team than the Orlando Magics that tested the Lakers. They don't even need someone on Howard's level because they are already better at every position but center in comparison. I like their coach better than SVG. SVG is smart like His brother and knows x's and o's but all the other stuff I think he lacks. Phil Jackson is not a big X's and O's guy but he can get his team to play and he understand game management. Whomever says they dont have a bench. They have a lot of young talent that you may not know of but one that you do know is Shaun Livingston who if he makes a full recovery would be a steal on that team and they have the money to keep him. He will be coming off the bench. Collison is solid. White is young but can bang. I forget that one guys name that is in Summer league and is super athletic but they have him. Mullens has the potential in 2 years to be a solid double double center and get like a few blocks.
they also have sefolosha, weaver, watson...
bench (in no particular order) = collison, sefolosha, weaver, watson, white, mullens.
I have to say that's not necessarily damaging...but it's alright to back outstanding young talents like Durant, green, westbrook, and questionable talent in harden. krystic is just an average center.
I think he is being overhyped as well, but he is looking like the real deal. Im just waiting for the season so I can see him, and see if he will actually dominate. LeBron James was a better, more talented offensive player though at the same age. Durant is the better SCORER. You have to realize that LeBron can pass the ball and create like a point guard so that gives him the edge. Durant is just a scorer offensively, but LeBron can do it all on that end of the floor.
lol durant is a superstar my goodness dude is 20 yrs old and look at the numbers he had. Just wait 2-3 yrs he will be a Top 5 player in the world.. plain and simple
golden state better than memphis and okc
