So your on a court playing 5 on 5 basketball, you have 4 players already on your squad…

You have 1 spot to fill with an NBA Player, whoever you don’t pick between the 2 options I’ll list joins the other Team, meaning your team would have to defend the other player…

So, who would you pick up between…

    Jordan Clarkson OR D’angelo Russell

    Dario Saric OR Kristaps Porzingas

    Jahlil Okafor OR Miles Turner

    Devon Booker OR Zach Lavine

    Kris Dunn OR Manny Mudiay

    Eric Bledsoe OR Kyle Lowry

    Justice Winslow OR Stanley Johnson

    Nerlens Noel OR Bismack Biyombo

    Joel Embiid OR Andre Drummond

    RJ Hunter OR James Young

    Chandler Parson OR Danillo Gallinari

Terry Rozier OR Dennis Smith Jr.(NBA Vs NCAA)

Giannis OR Ben Simmons (Just curious)

    D’Angelo Russell over Jordan Clarkson
    Porzingis over Saric
    Myles Turner over Okafor
    Devin Booker over LaVine
    Dunn over Mudiay
    Lowry over Bledsoe
    Stanley Johnson over Winslow
    Noel over Biyombo
    Drummond over Embiid (for now)
    RJ Hunter over James Young
    Parsons over Gallinari
    Simmons over Giannis (barely)
    Dennis Smith over Rozier (barely)

The last two were the toughest!

I’d love to hear some of the reasoning behind your picks…

I’m notdisagreeing with any of your picks, they are yours to make, I’d just like to seriously pick the brains of some of my fellow posters/BBall Fans

I for one would not want to play against Okafor in the Paint, I’d be okay with Myles taking jumpers in that scenario, Oak however would beat the living dog shyt out of anyone guarding him including Myles himself…

Anyway, thanks again for dropping in and replying guys…

    lots of Context.

This hurts my Purple & Gold heart but Clakson over Russell – NBA is about consistency & Russell just doesn’t have that yet – Clarkson does & he’s a bigger, better athlete

Porzingus over Saric but it’s closer than I would have thought. If Saric brings that 3 pt stroke into the reg season I may change my mind b/c Saric is a Bulldog – I Luv his ride or die style. But for now it’s the Unicorn

I know people will disagree but I take Okafor over Miles Turner. I like Turner a lot long term but the people who compare Okafor to Al Jefferson are delusional. Jefferson did not do what Okafor did at 19 until he was 23 (score in double figures). & I believe Okafor will be a decent defender – the 76ers have no coach, worst perimeter defense in nba history. can’t blame that all on Okafor. But his offensive ability is Crazy. It’s basically Charles Barkley’s thighs & rear end on a 6’11” Center w/ soft hands & he can Not be guarded by 1 man in the post.

I’ve got Lavine over Booker in another tight one. Booker is Awful on Defense & he’s not as a great a 3pt shooter as people think. He’s 35%. I like Booker but he’s not a "Super Star" level guy. Neither is Lavine but Lavine is such a great athlete you can do more with him at Both ends

Wow Mudiay or Dunn is another tough one but I have to go with Mudiay. In 2015 Mudiay was 18 & Dunn was 22 as the Draft approached. No one in the NBA put Dunn ahead of Mudiay – in fact it was not even close. I don’t think Mudiay gets enough credit for Denver’s resurgence last season. I LUV both guys & they Very similar, I just think Mudiay is at a higher level & he’s 3 years behind in age but ahead in development.

Lowry or Bledsoe is tough b/c Bledsoe is in a bad spot & Lowry is older & more mature. But there’s no guarentee Bledsoe can get where Lowry is. I go Lowry. I like his leadership & his unselfishness. they Both have crazy athleticism but I like the way Lowry uses his body & maintains balance thru contact when he attacks the rim.

I take Johnson over Winsolw b/c again scoring Matters in the NBA. Both guys have similar skill sets but Johnson can score the basketball & Winslow doesn’t have enough size to be a consistent scorer w/ no outside shot. It’s close but I take Johnson.

I take Biambo over Noel & I do not think this is close. Neither guy gives you anything on offense but Noel is not a great rebounder & he’s not a great defender either. He gets pushed around & you can’t put him in the middle to shut anyone down 1 v 1 but b/c of his length & explosiveness he’ll get a help defense block or 2 each game & a few boards but not much else.

Drummond or Embiid – wow this should be an EASY choice. An All Star Center vs a Rookie who has played 12 minutes of One pre-season game. I’m taking Embiid, lol. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I actually watched a replay of the 1st half of the Celtics vs Sixers & Embiid was Rusty, Not in Game shape & looked lost at times however, his Talent is Ridiculous. He is going to Dominate the post at Both ends. Boston had to Double him almost Immediately & he can score Anywhere on the court including 3’s. Drummond is a great player but I think Embiid can be a Special player.

RJ Hunter or James Young – is Neither an option?

Parson or Gallanari? – Gallanari. I don’t like Parsons at all. Once again, scoring matters in the NBA & Gallanari can score in multiple ways.

Rozier or Dennis Smith Jr? – this is not even close. Dennis Smith all day everyday. It’s really not a fair comparison. Dennis Smith has natural abilities that come along Very rarely & again he can Score the basketball from anywhere. He has effortless Explosion to the Rim that does not even look real.

Giannis or Simmons? – again the Greek is clearly going to be a Star & in his 3rd season he had break out numbers. I Luv Giannis. Here comes the But – Simmons has skills the likes of which you just do Not see in the NBA very often. When we landed the 2nd pick I wanted to convince myself that Simmons was over rated or that he was not a team leader but the truth is he lost 1 game in 3 years of high level HS ball, he’s got a Kobe like work ethic. He’s incredibly mature & under control for his age. & most important he reminds me a Lot of Magic Johnson & that court vision is what sets him apart. He can really do it all on the court but Top players are going to line up to play w/ him b/c he is so unselfish & he makes guys look good. So it’s Simmons.
