Lebron posted this on his facebook this morning:

    ……………………………………………………………….

Who’s your All-Time Starting 5 (retired)? Mine: Stockton, Jordan, Bird, Barkley, Russell. 6th Man = Oscar/Magic

my all time 5 b ased on who i think are the best?

    pg-magic johnson

    sg-michael jordan

sf-kobe bryant (i know hes not realy a sf but he could play it)

    pf-tim duncan

    c-kareem abdul jabbar

Shaq would be my center if we were just going by his 4-5 year stretch of his prime. Karl Malone barely misses out behind duncan.

I was thinking about this today lol. Here’s my starting 5

    Walt Fraizer-Micheal Jordan-Larry Bird-Karl Malone-Moses Malone

Fraizer was a great defender during his time, could handle a offense and was quietly a good late game guy. Jordan is the G.O.A.T. Larry Bird was my shooter, Karl Malone for the bone jarring picks and scoring inside and Moses Malone for rebounding and points

If I could use current NBA players, LeBron would take Bird’s spot.

Mine would be similar, though replace KAJ with Shaq, though I too am torn between them. Russell, Chamberlain and Bird would be up there, and John Stockton would be up there too. It is funny that two of his players did not have rings. All of them however, are incredibly talented players. Everyone has their own opinion on teams and players, guess this is his. Hey, at least he did not put himself on the list, than people would go completely insane. One thing I did notice is that LeBron’s players would have great chemistry, though would be very undersized. Bill Russell’s defense was off the chain, but Barkley’s not so much. Chuck was crazy talented though, and they would board like crazy. Just kind of different, fun to think what any of these 5 great players would like playing together. Imagine if Bill was on the Dream Team, that would be incredible.

    Mine would look like this:

    PG – Magic Johnson

    SG – Michael Jordan

    SG – Larry Bird

    PF – Tim Duncan

    C – Hakeem Olajuwon

    6th Man – Kobe Bryant

Depends. If it was just my idea of who the best players of all time are at their respective positions this would probably be it:

    PG Magic Johnson

    SG Michael Jordan

    SF Larry Bird

    PF Tim Duncan

    C Kareem Abdul Jabbar

    6th man: Oscar Robertson

But if it was my idea of the ultimate team that would play incredibly well together and that I think would beat any other team then it would be this:

    PG John Stockton

    SG Michael Jordan

    SF Scottie Pippin

    PF Tim Duncan

    C Bill Russell

    6th man: Hakeem Olajuwon

My squad… Would beat any other squad they face.

PG – Gary Payton: He had an all-around game for a point guard and could defend his ass off (Magic couldn’t defend). He was 6′ 4" so he could defend both backcourt spots. He could pass/create, post up, catch and shoot, shoot the three, had a mid-range game and he was tough as sh*t.

SG – Michael Jordan: Not only the greatest player of all-time, but also the greatest competitor. He was a killer.

SF – Scottie Pippen: I think he’s the best all-around player in NBA history. Imagine him GP and MJ defending the perimeter. Wow.

PF – Tim Duncan: I think he’s the best power forward of all-time. Malone was a great on ball defender, but he wasn’t the paint protector that Duncan is. And Duncan doesn’t have an ego, so I don’t think he’d have a problem fitting in with MJ.

C – Hakeem Olajuwon: He’s arguably the most skilled center of all-time. He didn’t have any holes in his game.

I think I would go with Indiana’s team and have Larry Bird as my sniper 6th man. The starting 5 would be ridiculous defensively.

@Tezo: No one would score on that backcourt lol

Of course Lebron had to throw in Barkley for Dwyane Wade lol

PG- Magic Johnson. Best PG in NBA history (runner-up: John Stockton, Gary Payton)

SG- Michael Jordan. Obvious (runner-up: Kobe Bryant, Reggie Miller, maybe Dwyane Wade)

SF- Lebron James. Hate to say it but he can be the best SF to ever play. We’ve never seen someone this big that can jump that high, run that fast, and pass like a point guard. Most physically gifted player since Shaq (runner-up: Larry Bird, Julius Erving, Scottie Pippen)

PF- Tim Duncan. Best PF to play the game (runner-up: Kevin Garnett, Karl Malone)

C- Shaq. Biggest, baddest man to play the game (runner-up: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell)

Magic and Lebron on the same team seems a bit redundant given how similar their games are.

    I’d go with

PG – Rajon Rondo – hustles defensively and knows how to run a very talented team

    SG – Of course, MJ.

SF – Scottie Pippen, hustles, shoots 3s, generally takes care of business, no ego.

PF – Kevin Garnett – defensive anchor, can be a stretch 4 as well which opens lanes for MJ, might even rival him in intensity.

C – Shaquille O’Neal – dominant inside presence, already shows great chemistry with Rondo, imagine in his prime.

6th Man – Dominique Wilkins – the guy can fill up the scoresheet in a hurry, plus, love the highlight reel dunks.

This team would destroy people defensively and most of the shots would go through MJ and Shaq.

Seriously Rondo? Maybe in 10 years but at this point in his career and looking at all time greats if you want to pick a terrific defensive point guard who knows how to run a team Jason Kidd, Gary Payton and Walt Frazier would all make more sense.

I wonder how MJ would handle playing with a ball dominant center like Shaq… That’d be interesting.

Yeah I know, if I was putting together the best team possible I would, but I honestly think Rondo would do a great job with that lineup, you need a few indians amongst the chiefs. He’s my favourite player though and I do feel like he’d be a good fit. Payton is the obvious choice I should have made, but I figured with MJ, Shaq and Garnett it wouldn’t matter whether it was Payton or Rondo.

Lol, I have the feeling that was a bit of a joke but Chambers over McHale still gets a WTF out of me.

And no room for John Havlicek, Pete Maravich, Rick Barry or Dave Debuscherre? Only if we’re starting off in the 80s.

PG-Kobe Bryant. Primary perimeter scoring option. Secondary Post option.

SG-Michael Jordan. Primary post scorer. Secondary perimeter scorer.

SF-Scottie Pippen. Because you can’t split the two up. 23/33/24 on the perimeter together. No penetration.

PF-Kevin Garnett. Athletic 4 who can fit in perfectly with any other player on the team. Scottie of the post.

C-Wilt Chamberlain. Would  anchor defensively and play his role, but could take over the game at the drop of a hat.

6thman- Ray Allen. Wanted to take Reggie here, but Allen’s ability to D and drop 50 without taking touches from 23/24/33

They would run the triangle and it would go through Scottie and Mike like the 90-98 years, and have Kobe and KG as shooters, and Wilt posting up on the otherside, and everyone staying active. When Mike comes out they would go into the Kobe/Shaq triangle, with Kobe creating from the perimeter playing Kobe ball, Ray coming off screens and spotting up, and Wilt straight Dominating opposing centers the way Shaq would. Ray has actually become a good defender.

Defensively, they would keep 2 zoned on the perimeter, 1 in the middle, and 1 down low, and 1 guarding the ballhandler baseline to baseline. Lockdown with turnovers. IMO, If there ever was an unbeatable team, this is it. Every-single player would accept his role offensively, as it maximizes their skills, while hiding their flaws. This would be the most cohesive team Ever.
