TarHeelRavenParticipantOne of the most gifted athletes of all time in guy sport is cramping up so bad he had to be carried off the court. Never seen anything like that before. Wow.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantBang!!!! But with all due respect.. Playing in hot weather will make you cramp up. Trust me, your body is hot enough and you need a cool down for your muscles to flow.. So I understand completely

ReactionParticipantI hate seeing this happen. I’m not even a Heat fan but I truly hate when people bring up "Jordan playing through a 100+ degree fever, etc." and Lebron can’t even play through a cramp as if its some ridiculous knock on him and his dedication to basketball/greatness in the sport. People need to realize how difficult it is to play at such a high level for so long in the heat especially at the speed the games are played today. Sure playing with a fever is hard, but so is cramping up and not being able to even walk off the court.

Ghost01ParticipantIt sucks LeBron cramped up and all, but lets put this into context
Don’t NFL players play in pads in 80+ degree weather in Florida? Its not like every game there is automatically some players cramping out due to the heat. The heat isn’t the excuse, its just random bad luck.
LeBron has cramping problems, this has happened before.

ReactionParticipantJust to play a little bit of devils advocate to this (just for the hell of it), you can’t really compare the NFL to the NBA. Players in the NFL get far more breaks typically than NBA players. Players switch out between downs and different players play offense and defense.

thparadoxParticipantYou might not realize this, but it was probably FAR hotter inside that stadium than outside.
Think about how sweating works. When you sweat, the water on your body evaporates.
The stadium is a closed room. Evaporation was not able to cool the players down. If you’ve ever done a spin class you know how much hotter it is than biking outdoors.
That said, I didn’t understand how they were dealing with the cramp. The way to treat a cramp is to stretch (and probably get some salt / electrolyte in your system). Lebron was just sitting there… I didn’t see him stretching

OhCanada-ParticipantI dont blame Lebron for this happening it was bound to happen to the hardest working player on the court in 100 degrees heat. That just happened to be Lebron.
Funny, you would think Duncan, Parker or Ginobli would get cramps. They have been doubted and slept on for the past 5 years. This organization is so strong and makes such great basketball decisions that Ill be surprised to ever see them miss the playoffs.

King CaluchaParticipantActually cramps happen when you cool off your body too quickly. I saw Lebron with ice in his back when he was on the bench before the injury. Voilà!
